Seadog Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
Took my girlfriend on a date here later one evening. She has a shellfish allergy so we are always a bit selective when it comes to sushi places. This place did not disappoint. Spicy Miso was killer. All of our rolls and apps we're outstanding, and the prices are pretty outstanding. Will be returning soon.
Food was excellent. The front of the restaurant is quiet and nice. We were put in the back with TWO 8 woman Bachelorette parties. Why a restaurant would put a nice group of 2 couples and an extra person in a cold high ceiling room with 16 drunk cackling hens is beyond me. There were tables in the front available when we came in and we had a reservation, but by the time we sat down and had our ears blown out, the front was full. The whole thing was rather ridiculous. No one really seemed to care despite asking to move and being willing to wait. So we ate our outstanding sushi and yelled at each other for 90 minutes. One group left after 30 min, the other never did and just got louder.
So, go as a couple or 4some but eat in the front. If you are not a big group of loud drunk women and get put in the back room, you may be better off getting take out and going to the punk shows at the Underground Lounge as it will be a bit more peaceful and relaxing.
Our table seemed like an add on ...more in the hallway by the kitchen than in the dining room. It was a terrible location and extremely noisy. I asked if they could move us and they couldn't. So...this is where they sat us with a reservation I made in advance. Was a big bummer for me and my girlfriends who wanted to catch up. Food and service was good, so that helped salvage the experience!
Came to Seadog to celebrate my parent's anniversary. The restaurant was so accommodating - gave us a really nice 4 top table in it's own private space, which was nice for dining with parents. The back room was a little rowdier and would be fun for a friend dinner, especially with it being BYOB (no corkage fee either)! Sashimi was incredible, as was the miso soup. Uni wasn't super fresh, but it was still decent. The Lechee and green tea creme brulee desserts were delicious. Would definitely recommend :)
The sashimi was reall good and fresh. The sweet shrimp was delicious and a pleasure to the taste bud. However, the rice softness is inconsistent on different visits.
Also, remember to serve the sweet shrimp head (I had to ask for everytime I ordered sweet shrimp) as the head is very flavorful and good.
Servers have to be more welcoming, as I had to waved at the waiter but to be asked to wait because he was on his phone.
I specifically requested the window table. I called to confirm right after booking through OPENTABLE. They confirmed and said yes, no problem. We get there...it was indeed taken and we had to wait over 45 mins past our original reservation time to be seated were we requested. It was a special night and I went out of my way to make it romantic and it completely back fired. We had an appetizer at a smaller table near by until the group of girls were done.
I was extremely disappointed with Sea Dog for confirming not even 15 mins before arriving that our table was ready for us and they lied. If it was either a language barrier or miscommunication with their staff...I don't care and was unacceptable. Wont be returning.
I was very impressed by the strong flavors each specialty maki roll delivered for my picky palate. The sea monster roll was perfectly prepared with bread crumbs, soft shelled crabs, and eel sauce. Their dragon roll was also superb. Yes to free tempura sweet potato when checking into Yelp.
