Seadog Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
This was my second time dining here. The first was for a girls dinner on a randon Wednesday. Everything was so amazing I made a reservation for a Friday night date. It was awful! The edamame was over salted, the little monster was swimming in spicy mayo, the spicy scallop came out like a preschooler rolled it, and there was no consistency. We did not finish a single roll and sent back the spicy scallop. I was so mad I paid $100 for that meal, not worth it.
I went to Seadog with my girlfriend and surprisingly we did not have to wait long. We made a reservation thru open tables app and were able to be seat right away. The food was delicious and the price was around what I expected it to be. However I did think the portions were a bit smaller than what I've had before but the overall experience was great. I would definitely recommend.
I had raved about this restaurant before taking my friend there for the first time. I found myself embarrassed after and evening of terrible food and service. This used to be my favorite sushi place. The sushi quality was terrible. Everything was "soggy". Even the edamame which was overcooked.
Really wanted to like this place. I made a reservation for 6 for New Years eve. When the only open table was available for 5pm I understood because it was sure to be a busy night. When we arrived there were only 2 other filled tables in the place and they squeezed us into a table more suited for 4. The entire time we were there (which turned out to be 2 hours!) the place never got busy so I don't understand why they waited 10 minutes to seat us and squeezed us into a tiny table. The food was great, a little pricy but the fish was very fresh and everyone enjoyed what they got - including someone who was trying sushi for the first time. However, the service was not good. Four of the meals came out relatively quickly but it took another 40 minutes for the other two meals to come out! Everyone was finished eating by the time it came with no explanation. Then, they tacked on a tip over 20% because we were a large group. This would have been fine if we hadn't sat there for 40 minutes hungry watching our friends eat. When the bill came I asked her to split it and she said they could only run two cards. I said that was fine but she brought out the bill without splitting it and never came back. We sat there for 15 minutes before going up to the front desk to get someone to take the payment. The host at the desk was running processing another payment so we waited another 10 minutes to get the cards run. Mistakes happen and some things are out of the control of the waitress but adding almost a 25% tip to the bill when they forgot about 2 people's dinners is not cool.
BYOB at its finest. Seadog Sushi has a huge array of incredible sushi rolls and appetizers. The quality of the food, creativity of the offerings and presentation are excellent. Given the price point and that it is BYOB, it is one of the best sushi values in the city. You need to get there.
I have been to Seadog Sushi many, many times and have always enjoyed the sushi, but will NEVER be back. I brought a friend from out of town there the other day and had a reservation. There were only 2 tables seating in the place and it took over 15 minutes for us to be seated (we finally sat ourselves). The host/waitress addressed us initially and said it would just be a moment, but then spent the next 15 minutes stapling take out order receipts together for customers who were not even there to pick up an order. We then asked if we could seat ourselves at an open table (just to be able to sit down). They allowed us to, but did not bring menus or waters. I went back up to ask about it after 10 minutes of waiting and was told someone else would help us. No one did. 10 minutes later I went back up and asked if we could order (even though I hadn't seen a menu) and was still not helped as the waitress literally walked away from me. We ended up walking out. I was so embarrassed I brought a friend to this place when we were treated so poorly and take out orders were clearly the restaurants only priority (even though I only saw one person come in to pick up the entire time we were there and not helped).
Food and ambience were great. The food took a very long time, but they compensated us with an extra appetizer. However, immediately after we had paid they told us they had another reservation and needed us to leave the table even though we were still finishing our drinks. It was very unprofessional and rude given it wasn't our fault the reservations were behind schedule.
