The overall experience was poor. The restaurant was absolutely empty but had a live performer. The menu had no consistency and seemed to just encompass any and all food groups and it showed. The gumbo was extremely average and the kale brussel sprouts salad was absolutely terrible. Dry, huge chunks of kale with no flavor. I would definitely not return here.
Food was very good, so was service. However, there was a band playing, and I did not anticipate that, so it was too noisy for me. It is about a block from the IFC Cinema, which was super-convenient, but I would check out the music situation before I reserved another time. The music was good, jazzy, and not super-loud but I wanted to talk not listen that night.
I never write negative reviews but this was the worst restaurant I've been to in the area. I ordered the lobster sandwich and it was a pile of lobster salad and bacon on a roll. The lobster salad was old and chewy, the bread was stale, and I couldn't even touch the bacon. Someone else at my table got scallops and they were also old. We left and got pizza around the corner.
The food was great!
Surprised about the interior decor, which felt a little low budget for the West Village. The staff was attentive and great, and the had a salmon dish was pretty good. My only concern was that while dining, a homeless man entered and hovered over us and asked for money and food.
I went here on a date night with my husband. The restaurant is VERY tiny and we were sat very close to other diners. The restaurant had live music this night, which was fine, but to accommodate the musicians family, we were moved tables (to which the owner kindly comped us drinks). The food really was underwhelming. I had the Lobster Sandwich which was served ice cold (more like a chicken salad than lobster roll) and the bread pudding for dessert was lacking richness of flavor. This is fine if you are looking for a pub feel.
Very friendly staff with a relaxed environment. Good selection of comfort food. BEST lobster roll in the city!!!
We love Seabird and are never disappointed. I loved their gnocchi w shrimp entree and was looking forward to reordering it. The server informed me that it was not on the menu and I was disappointed. The gnocchi was so lite and airy n the shrimp perfectly paired.
The server was so engaging and friendly, he suggested I tried the shrimp n truffle. I hesitated but I m glad I took his recommendation. These little bundles of delicate pastry dough were filled w shrimp n sautéed w portobello mushrooms n then topped off with truffle oil, just the correct amount!!! Fantastic.
My husband loves the hangar steak entree and perfectly cooked to his liking.
We meet the owner while there and she was so friendly and a very interesting woman. We even met the chef and complemented him on his cooking. It's just a warm friendly place with great food.We look forward to our next visit.
Place is cute but it was winter and it was freezing in there ! Waiter was great . Food was good. They didn’t have everything on menu . Tables were small not very comfortable .
Fresh made pasta was delicious. Loved the rustic decor and the staff was helpful. I will return because there were a number of dishes on the menu that I would like to try.
We booked at Seabird for a lunch prior to a movie on a Sunday afternoon. From the outside, Seabird looked quite charming but once you entered, I would describe the setting as "diner"ish. I ordered the fish sandwich and fried calamari. Both dishes were way overcooked and it seems as if they were refried. My wife had eggs/bacon/hash and my daughter had the French toast with ice cream. Typical fare that no restaurant should mess up. They were okay with their meal. I would recommend that you order the basics from this place and only if you have to go.
Lovely just lovely. Dinner with dear friend - perfect setting
I fell in love with this place. I shall return and people should go
Made reservation, Open Table confirmed, I showed up and restaurant was closed.
Walked by the next day to see them still unopened with a sign on the window reading closed for 2 days and their holiday operating hours....if the restaurant is going to use a service like OpenTable for their customers the least they could do is keep its operating hours updated.
Great food. Didn’t take account of our booking request and when we requested a table move as they put us in the door draft we were pretty much ignored despite there being 3 other tables available the entire time we were in the restaurant.
Service not great but food was very nice.
amazing cesaer (sp?) salad
The food was really good. Portions was a little less than what we wanted. However, the taste was spot on. Atmosphere was great. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food is good but any special request is far from welcomed (and in fact doesn't seem to be heard at all).
The tables outside are cute so it can be a nice casual spot with friends.
Second time there. Food is really good. Batterers awesome. Waitress not so much. Unfriendly, Curt, and sort of rushing us. Restaurant was empty besides us so not sure what her hurry was. We had fun anyway, and the food was very good.
My Friends and I get together every year to celebrate our birthdays and I chose Seabird as the place this year. Our waitress was Nadja and she was fantastic. She was patient with us in ordering our food, she made great suggestions and she was very friendly. The music that the bartender was playing was off the chain it made you want to dance. I ordered the Fried Calamari and the salmon poke for the table. Delicious! Our main courses consisted of Fish taco, healthy caesar salad, fish burger and I got the branzino with shishito pepper. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
This place is a great find and you will not be disappointed. They even surprised us with dessert and champagne for the three of us on the house. I will definitely come back!!!
Lots of fried fish = not so fresh fish!
Food was weak. Grilled Calamari was undercooked. Salmon tacos were in a deep fried shell, which wasn't specified on the menu or by the staff, and not what we wanted.
The food and service was amazing as always! This is my second time here dining and I love the atmosphere... getting a glass of wine or coffee in the outdoor seating :)
Terrific find in the village for casual dining. Excellent seafood and more. Friendly and efficient service. Great place to meet up with friends.
Our issue with our meal was not the taste of the food, it was how long it took to get to us. Our lunch took at least an hour to arrive at our table. After about 30 minutes we finally inquired as to where our food was and it was only then that our waitress told us that there was just one chef working today and it still took another 30 minutes. The food itself was delicious and our waitress offered us free drinks and a free dessert but truthfully we were so hungry that all we wanted was food. Truthfully we would have preferred an appetizer. The music was also very loud and we asked for it to be turned down a bit. The bartender would only turn it down a little bit even though we were directly below the speaker and it was the middle of the day on a Monday. Despite a yummy experience, I would be hesitant to return.
Food and service was great!
This place is awesome. I got here a few times a week for lunch, and their Caesar salad with either steak or salmon is as good as it gets.
Mussels seemed tasty. Fish taco not great. Burger good. Ceviche good -spicy! Sangria watery (ice melted)? Server tooo attentive (kept asking for orders) then nowhere to be found when bill was needed.
Everything we ordered was fine but the tuna tacos were fantastic. Seemed a bit overpriced, but would go back.
Really good food and attentive service! I'll definitely go again.
great service (almost to a fault). Food was mediocre at best. Clam and mussel pot had 5 total clams and not many mussels. Oysters we're good, but they're oysters...
The food was very good. It was what I expected. But the service was not as good as the food. Our server was very kind and polite but seemed overwhelmed and didn't check up on us. But mostly I asked for the fried calamari appetizer to come BEFORE our meals. As in, as an appetizer. Instead by the time the calamari showed up we were almost done with our entrees. It was a pretty disappointing service. But the food was good. So I still would recommend Seabird. Everyone enjoyed their food despite the service.
Appetizers are a little pricey. Clam chowder was just fair and too watery. Branzino and tuna tacos were good. Overall nothing noteworthy.
Just around the corner from the hustle of Christopher St I found a gorgeous seaside restaurant with super friendly down to earth staff and fresh seafood dishes.
The interior is expertly crafted. The open kitchen's artisanal tile against the reclaimed wood is perfect and you can practically feel the oceanside breeze against your face.
Jonny was such a dear with our order, great recommendations and clearly knowledgeable about the dishes. Everything was so crisp and fresh! Have to try the muscle pots or the lobster roll for a quick grab. Coming back for a day at the raw bar!
To be honest, the food left me with a stomach ache. I ate calamari and the fish sandwich, both of which tasted like they were previously frozen and not fresh at all. Disappointed!
My only complaint was that there was no full bar. We wanted cocktails before dinner. We left the restaurant to go next door for a drink. Seabird rescheduled our reservation and we came back and had a lovely dinner.
Disappointed that the steak was unavailable.
However, their salmon poke and octopus were delicious. And the oysters were great too, very fresh!
And service was on point too, though we were the only ones on a Sunday night.
Additionally, the complimentary prosecco was a nice touch.
Would definitely come back again to try their steak.
Food was good. We did the bottomless brunch for my sister's bday. Would def come again. Also liked how they sat us right by the windows so it felt like we were outside. Great service too. Joanne was really nice
Love Seabird, have been multiple times for lunch and dinner and never disappointed. Service is attentive and the food is great. love the design of the space, have been on both a date and with friends
Food was delicious. Fresh, light and tasty. Shrimp dumping scampi was awesome, loved the fish burger. Wait staff and owners were super friendly and welcoming!
Would definitely recommend.
