We had the best dinner and time at Seabird. This was our second visit and loved both times. The menu has something for everyone, and the portions are generous. My hubby and I split a soup, appetizer platter and a pasta entré and it was plenty. The service was so friendly, courteous, and accommodating. We highly recommend Seabird.
Thank you so much for your great review. Come back again, we now have live music on the weekends
Went to dinner here for NYE with a couple friends. I appreciated that they had a NYE menu but still had the regular menu as well. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. The food was amazing and we all really liked our cocktails. My only complaint is that sitting by the windows can get a little chilly. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place.
Lovely, charming place with terrific staff and fresh, authentic food.
My wife & I had the branzino and it was incredible!
Very cold inside
We booked during the Halloween parade and although they could have.sold our table 10 times, they kept it for us !
Disappointed with the service. The food was fine but not worth the price.
Very strange and loud alternative rock playing at dinner. It was uncomfortable to eat with Incubus playing loudly. Not what we expected.
My boyfriend’s lobster roll was disappointing. It was more like a lobster salad served on a hamburger bun. The dominant flavor was celery.
Very cute place. Food was okay but the service was good. (Our server was Teresa and she was extremely nice.)
Great food great service nice happy hour
Great prices and brunch selection. Very attentive staff, and great part-open air location. Would definitely come back.
Great sangria, incredible home made French fries( best I ever had ) and a simply delicious hamburger. My wife’s chicken pesto sandwich otherworldly. Open during the middle of the afternoon on a hot Sunday was the perfect respite before catching an early evening movie. Nice staff, very accommodating.....go and enjoy.
Comfort is the word that sums up our experience at Seabird. The staff were engaging and the food was spot on. i recommend the spicy calamari. They will make you extra sauce upon request.
Not a wide selection of food and the cost is overpriced for the amount that is served.
I made a reservation on Open Table for 11:30 am than arrived and was told the chef was running late. That's fine. Twenty minutes later we find out the chef is still not there and it's already 12:15! 45 minutes have passed and all we have had is one drink which we were charged for which is bad form. The bartender was very apologetic. but there is zero excuse for this! Don't allow reservations on Open Table if the chef can't be there on time! I had to cancel work meetings because I had to stay there later. We finally got the food and everyone at the table was underwhelmed by the quality. The oysters and calamari were good but the lobster rolls had way more bread than lobster so the taste was lost. The fries were nice and crisp, but the side dish shouldn't override the main course.
I would not go back.
I hardly ever give a bad review, but they were short staffed. What I thought was a crowded restaurant due to popularity, was actually just bunched up people waiting for open tables. We should have read the signs; no one brought us our water when we asked. Service was slow. Food was not good. We debated leaving but stayed because we were so hungry. My wife did not want to eat the cod sandwich that she had ordered since it did not taste fresh, the fries tasted like old grease. I gave her the Scallop dish I had ordered thinking it was marginally better and I am less picky. I wolfed her sandwich down by slathering it in tartar sauce but let me tell you I did not feel so well afterwards.
My pancakes were burnt. Crab Benedict had egg cooked all the way through to a hardboiled yolk, had no hollandaise sauce, only had crab meat on 1/2 and spinach on the other 1/2, and the salad was wilted and obviously made the day before. I never complain about my food, but this was father's day brunch, and my dad was so disappointed that I called the waiter over to tell him. The waiter apologized and told me that the usual chef was not able to come to work so they got someone random to substitute. I understand that life happens, but that still sounded like poor judgement to me -- to have someone cooking in your restaurant who is this off. I now live just a couple of blocks away and was hoping to be a regular, but I don't think I'll be giving it another shot.
Do not go here! The restaurant had only two other tables when we arrived and it was a quiet night. They were out of almost everything on the menu. We sat down at 8pm and were not served our entrees until 9:30pm! We did not even get appetizers and as I said there were only two other tables, it was not crowded at all. The food was gross--I ordered red snapper that had clearly been frozen before and was so dry and overcooked. It had no flavor. I literally could not eat it. We left upset and hungry and will never, ever go back.
The staff was nice and accommodating. The menu was rather limited, and the one item a member of my party desired was out of stock at an early hour in the night, which was strange. The menu was also slightly misleading. We were the only customers dining in the restaurant, which was strange and made it seem like there was a bad rep for the restaurant and made the interaction with staff awkward, especially considering they were out of menu items despite an empty restaurant.
The food was average and deceiving they say a lobster roll but it was really a lobster sandwich. Their turkey burger is so dry and lacks flavor. Would not recommend.
Service was slow, although our server was very pleasant. They were out of a lot of liquor and could not make the first 2 cocktails I ordered (Bloody Mary & something off thee cocktail list). Three of us ordered the burgers, which were all supposed to come with cheese and bacon, but did not. When we called this to their attention, again they were very pleasant, but came back about 10 minutes later with side plates of cold American cheese slices and bacon :/ Nice and quiet and easy-going vibe for a Sunday brunch.
Two overcooked fish dishes, and a server who never checked back after bringing the food and then charged use full price for a meal we couldn't eat. Never going back.
Food was pretty good. I had the turkeyburger which was okay and fries which appeared to have been from a bag of frozen fries you could buy at a supermarket. The place was quiet (early hour few customers). They had the outer door propped open on a cold day so we were cold and had to change tables. Did not live up to its reviews.
Very disappointed when walking in for our reservation for a group and noticed immediately a large party right before us being seated at the only open table. We had to wait to have other patrons luckily agreed to move to the bar so we could be seated. The service was fine once we sat, but when asking for the manager as our reservation appeared to not be of concern, I was told the manager was out and was never approached again about the situation. It put a sour on the whole dinner, as I had several friends and family travel more than an hour away for the occasion. There was simply no reason for this to occur; we would have gone elsewhere had it not been a Saturday night and knowing it would be hard to get in elsewhere. I had read reviews that indicated this was a warm and hospitable place, but I really felt the opposite. Not worth it.
The overall experience was poor. The restaurant was absolutely empty but had a live performer. The menu had no consistency and seemed to just encompass any and all food groups and it showed. The gumbo was extremely average and the kale brussel sprouts salad was absolutely terrible. Dry, huge chunks of kale with no flavor. I would definitely not return here.
Food was very good, so was service. However, there was a band playing, and I did not anticipate that, so it was too noisy for me. It is about a block from the IFC Cinema, which was super-convenient, but I would check out the music situation before I reserved another time. The music was good, jazzy, and not super-loud but I wanted to talk not listen that night.
I never write negative reviews but this was the worst restaurant I've been to in the area. I ordered the lobster sandwich and it was a pile of lobster salad and bacon on a roll. The lobster salad was old and chewy, the bread was stale, and I couldn't even touch the bacon. Someone else at my table got scallops and they were also old. We left and got pizza around the corner.
The food was great!
Surprised about the interior decor, which felt a little low budget for the West Village. The staff was attentive and great, and the had a salmon dish was pretty good. My only concern was that while dining, a homeless man entered and hovered over us and asked for money and food.
I went here on a date night with my husband. The restaurant is VERY tiny and we were sat very close to other diners. The restaurant had live music this night, which was fine, but to accommodate the musicians family, we were moved tables (to which the owner kindly comped us drinks). The food really was underwhelming. I had the Lobster Sandwich which was served ice cold (more like a chicken salad than lobster roll) and the bread pudding for dessert was lacking richness of flavor. This is fine if you are looking for a pub feel.
Very friendly staff with a relaxed environment. Good selection of comfort food. BEST lobster roll in the city!!!
We love Seabird and are never disappointed. I loved their gnocchi w shrimp entree and was looking forward to reordering it. The server informed me that it was not on the menu and I was disappointed. The gnocchi was so lite and airy n the shrimp perfectly paired.
The server was so engaging and friendly, he suggested I tried the shrimp n truffle. I hesitated but I m glad I took his recommendation. These little bundles of delicate pastry dough were filled w shrimp n sautéed w portobello mushrooms n then topped off with truffle oil, just the correct amount!!! Fantastic.
My husband loves the hangar steak entree and perfectly cooked to his liking.
We meet the owner while there and she was so friendly and a very interesting woman. We even met the chef and complemented him on his cooking. It's just a warm friendly place with great food.We look forward to our next visit.
Place is cute but it was winter and it was freezing in there ! Waiter was great . Food was good. They didn’t have everything on menu . Tables were small not very comfortable .
Fresh made pasta was delicious. Loved the rustic decor and the staff was helpful. I will return because there were a number of dishes on the menu that I would like to try.
We booked at Seabird for a lunch prior to a movie on a Sunday afternoon. From the outside, Seabird looked quite charming but once you entered, I would describe the setting as "diner"ish. I ordered the fish sandwich and fried calamari. Both dishes were way overcooked and it seems as if they were refried. My wife had eggs/bacon/hash and my daughter had the French toast with ice cream. Typical fare that no restaurant should mess up. They were okay with their meal. I would recommend that you order the basics from this place and only if you have to go.
