Sea Watch Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
It was fine. Not our first visit.
Welcome by older gentleman felt cold - he seemed slightly arrogant & not particularly warm.
Restaurant not busy (numerous empty tables) but as a host he seemed more concerned as to if or not we had a reservation (we did) than truly inviting us in.
It’s a lovely place with an amazing view of the ocean. There is a bar upstairs and the patio was covered with large open windows. The inside was cozy and so romantic. The only issue we had was with the older gentleman who was seating people. He took a long time to figure out where to put people even though the place was very empty. It was very odd. More people were waiting to be seated then there were already seated!
I would go again just for the view and food was very good. It is pricey so keep that in mind. You are paying for that view because portions are not large.
We are new to Lauderdale by the Sea - the daily 5-6 pm Special Seating turned out to be a gem.
On Open Table we requested a table with a view, if possible. They gave us a lovely ocean view.
We enjoyed wonderful prime rib and stuffed sole dinners. Being from Boston, the New England Clam Chowder passed our approvals. Key Lime pie for dessert was excellent.
Our waiter was excellent but a nearby table had 14 adults which really required most of his attention - he always checked with us, but really on the fly.
We would definitely return and tell friends & neighbors about our great dinner.
Found the Seafood Special - lobster tail, scallops and shrimp over cooked and
deeply blackened from the grill. A lighter touch would have been appreciated.
Your receptionist [she was the boss] was outstanding. My partner was Director
of Catering for Omni Hotels in another lifetime, and she was top of the heap.
Enjoyed the setting and the evening!
The ocean view and layout is fabulous! But my Seafood meal came with ONE very tiny potato, a few carrots/ green beans. When I ask the waitress about the ONE tiny potato, she rolled her eyes and walked away. For the pricy price of seafood you would expect more then a tiny potato!
You can always expect an excellent meal and servers who are pleasant, attentive and able to make recommendations to insure you get to try new selections. Sea Watch has been our go-to restaurant for birthdays, anniversaries, and just good food for more than 25 years. It's where we send out of town friends so they can enjoy a true beachside dining experience.
Beautiful, easy to find, with plenty of on-site free parking. Very helpful maitre d', and trained, experienced, courteous servers made it a pleasure. The appetizers, fish dinners and desserts were top notch. Impressive wine list (bottles were half-price that night), and the very reasonable cabernet sauvignon was superb. We were never rushed, were quite impressed, and will definitely be back.
Everything was amazing, except when we were ready to be seated for dinner, The host (or maybe the manager??) walked way ahead of us and just left the menu on the table and was walking back to the host stand. We had to flag her down because we couldn't see where she had seated us. Then she took an exasperated breath when we asked her where she had seated us and rolled her eyes. A manager or host makes or breaks your first impression of a restaurant. That should not have been my first impression. The rest of our dinner was fantastic!!
We were pleased with the quality and presentation of the food. We had a wonderful view, even though the venue was full, we were seated soon, and received very attentive service in both the bar and the restaurant area. A large party was seated nearby, yet we were all well attended and the noise level was moderate. We enjoyed the decor. The only caveat I would mention is the many different stairs going from the bar, dining room, and out front, it was not a problem for our party, but should be considered for others. I'm sure there is an elevator or ramp for those who may require them. We felt that the Dining at Dusk special was a great value, and plan to return.
Always come here when I visit my Mom. 2 adults, 2 kids. Adults got 2 salads and split the fish special of the day, along with a serving of mushrooms. Delicious dish. Adults split a key lime pie as well. Adults were not full until they had to finish the kids' orders of Sundaes. Next time, have kids split a sundae. As usual, this restaurant and service hit a home run.
