Sea Level Oyster Bar- NBPT
Featuring fresh seafood, raw bar, pizzas and sandwiches, 20+craft beers and cocktails.
Excellent in every way! It didn't hurt that the weather was also beautiful, but the restaurant itself is lovely with a great ambiance and vibe. Garage-style doors open up the side facing the water complete during nice weather. There's patio seating as well, but make sure to put in the request well ahead of time as patio seating is not guaranteed. Food was excellent and reasonably priced considering the quality and level of service and style. Service from everyone was outstanding...professional and friendly, timed very well (not too fast or too slow.) I highly recommend!
Very noisy, food was just ok, and pricey. Had a waitress who started recently, but was attentive and pleasant, just not yey thoroughly knowledgeable.
Overall a good experience in a great location. I thought the food was just ok but our server Jordan was lovely and patient while we decided what we wanted. Swordfish tacos were just so so. One small piece of fish per taco (3) and the salsa (though tasty) had too much liquid making the corn tacos soggy. Could only eat one; the rest fell apart and had to eat with a fork. Caesar salad was flavorless and the watermelon salad was tasty but we expected some greens to come with it. Oysters were fresh and yummy. So it was ok but slightly overpriced given quality of the food.
It was on not great. Food was ok.
Food was unremarkable. Service was not great. Lots of young servers with no supervision spending way too much time at the host stand instead of serving customers.
Sea Level is in a prime location in Newburyport. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The outdoor space is fabulous. However, on each of our visits, we are overall disappointed. The service is slow and not knowledgeable. Wrong drinks were brought to the table. They ran out of French fries!. The food was lack luster. If they get their act together, they could have a great restaurant.
I ordered Fish tacos and they had one strip of fish about 3" long and 1/2 " wide on each soft shell taco, when I asked the waitress about it she said they serve by weight. What a joke! if we hadn't had tickets for a show I would have sent it back.
We won't be back.
Management had doors open & it was 85 degrees out. Inside was too hot! Waiter didn’t bring over or ask if we wanted refills. Raw bar items were very good. Meals were just meh. Could barely taste any alcohol in the vodka & sodas we got.
Sitting outside was lovely and realized the noise level less than inside. Overall very good though a second beer didn't arrive in time. Lobster roll was tasty, moderate size. Same for salad. Sitting with a view of the water brought it to a 4 rating.
Always excellent. Never disappoints. The only issue is it is a but noisy
Great lunch, view and service. We were seated quickly and had our choice to sit inside or outside...even on a gorgeous day. We took advantage of the outdoor back deck. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was delicious and the views superb. Lots of choices for everyone, even those who are not big seafood lovers.
Love the food here. Even the desserts are great! It is a little loud but soon when the back doors/windows are open with more seasonal weather, it will be be better. The view is to die for too.
Amazing! So sooooo happy you are there! Food was fab! Service great!! Will be back!
Great food and location. Sit on back deck overlooking water.
We have eaten at Sea Level often since it opened. Last Saturday Night the food preparation was below par. I had the baked scallops which were good, but the side of mashed potatoes was boring and the green beans gray and over cooked. The whole dish looked monochromatic and unappetizing. Another person had the baja fish tacos. In the past the fish in this dish was lightly breaded and fried to perfection, Saturday it was an over breaded, over cooked chunk of fish. The good dish of the night was the ahi tuna, though the rice cake was uninspiring. We are so sorry to see the quality of your food slipping.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at SeaLevel. Food was excellent. Server was amazing, even though she was still training! She had the menu down, a smile on her face, and was very timely with everything.
Great food and helpful wait staff in making decisions. Better attention could have been paid to spreading out the toppings on the Clam Chowder Pizza. Overall, our party of 4 was very pleased with their meals.
My wife and I always like going to sea level. Never had a bad experience and we probably frequent this restaurant the most of any other since we moved here two years ago. The fish is consistently cooked just right and they are constantly changing their specials, which keeps the menu fresh.
This restaurant was quite a surprise. While we visited in the beginning of the “Summer Season”, the service was excellent. Our server, Damon, was attentive to our needs and very personable. The food was delicious, from the stuffed lobster to the special of stripped bass. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant if visiting the North Shore for the first time or spending a day out in Newburyport
Will not be one of my go to places. You would think a chef in NE, that serves seafood, would know how to cook it properly. Noise level to high and it wasn't full. Oysters were good, but lets face it, that's hard to mess up.
Incredibly fresh seafood! We ordered oysters on the half-shell, baked oysters, fried clams and baked scallops. All were delicious! The only downside was they had run out of lobster, which we'd wanted to order.
It's a busy place, so having a reservation is advised. Servers were on-point.
We sat on the front patio, under tree cover and could watch passersby and listen to a street band, which was a very pleasant experience.
We ate on the street side patio, there is a waterside patio as well. Food and ambiance were great, though the warm lobster roll left a bit to be desired. Servers mixed up our order a bit and was a little slow even though it was not very busy. Not too big of a deal and possibly a fluke, but something no less.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and return even though an hour ride.
Food was absolutely delicious, a lot pricey but great quality fresh seafood.
Service was fast and the food was excellent I would recommend to my friends
One of my favorite restaurants in Newburyport. Beautiful scenery whether you are seated in the front or back of the restaurant. Outdoor dining in summer is fun. Light and airy feel at the back of the restaurant. Waiters are fun with really cute shirts with various sayings, "Check out my mussels." Food is always excellent...great fried clams, probably the best I've ever had. Delicious burgers and fries. My husband loves their Island Chicken, a sweet sauce with tender chicken. I always order shrimp cocktail. You can choose how many shrimp you want and they are big and crisp. The Caesar salad is crisp and not over loaded with dressing. Really excellent drinks. Love this place.
We loved everything we got from appetizers, meals, drinks, and desserts. So delicious and unique.
Group of 8. Sat outside. Was awesome!
The peel and eat shrimp were good but you could take them down a size and provide more (it's the experience that's the fun)
The mussels in curry sauce were only OK - I would not get them again, also very small.
The fish tacos were very good but basic.
The atmosphere is too bright for me, the prices don't say "seafood cafe with bar"
I would like to see these dishes on your menu:
Whole fish ((it's the experience that's the fun))
Fish en Papillote
"Mushy peas" for the fish and chips
Various flat fish
Large fillets of Cod or Sea Bass
Very loud, service was slow but food was on point. Delicious & price was fair for amazing seafood
A unique restaurant which has two outside table seating accommodations, Market Street and Ocean View. Inside it is festive but loud. Food selection is very good and my wife is GF. Our meals came out on time, hot and delicious. The server was good but lacked enthusiasm that night.
Food was awesome
As usual the food was reliable and the seafood fresh. The staff is very nice. A great option in Newburyport.
Oysters were fresh & tasty, Tuna was nicely done. Service was efficient, nice everyday eatery
The black ink linguine w/shrimp was delicious.
Monday night dinner, the restaurant was pretty slow. Had a dozen oysters, plus the seafood pie and baked scallops. All were delicious.
This is a fine seafood restaurant on the North Shore. Dover Sole as a special and pan fried Just right. Good oysters and a lot of variety . Plan ahead and good luck finding parking. On our next trip we will park out of town and Uber in.
Date night with my wife at near by restaurant was nice. Gary the server was energetic and friendly. His customer service skills were excellent. Food was good. Good place for fish on Friday’s for Lent.
Good reservation process, seated quickly, server was attentive, fun atmosphere, lively, food was just as expected. Thank you.
Went for my husband’s 52. Had a reservation but sat at the bar instead. The two women (Shannon is one) are fabulous. Food was delicious. A local gem for us.
Excellent service. Nice view of the water and the park. The Bloody Mary was bland and the beer selection was not the most appealing to me. The chowder was unbelievably delicious- perhaps the best ever ! And my lobster BLT on naan bread was very tasty. I would leave the nachos though. I will definitely return and give it another shot. Cool bar!
