Sea Change Ratings and Reviews
We were at Sea Change during brunch time just before going to the Guthrie matinee. Everything about the experience was perfect. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The waitperson couldn't have been more congenial and attentive. The food arrived very quickly, was hot and so very good. I had the Smoked Salmon Tartine, such a taste delight. We didn't feel rushed, had a leisurely cup of coffee before going. We had plenty of time to make the matinee which was just upstairs. Yes, I recommend Sea Change to all, not only theater goers. There were several Viking football fans there enjoying themselves before the game.
We chose Sea Change for its menu and proximity to the Guthrie, and we chose well. The room was very attractive, and while many tables were occupied, the room was not noisy, making conversation easy. My husband said the ribeye was perhaps the best he'd ever eaten, and my tagliatelle with smoked sturgeon and poppy seeds was excellent, as was my wine (albarino). Our server, Peter, was delightful, very personable and mindful of the time, given our theater plans. We live in New Mexico but look forward to another dinner at Sea Change on our next visit to Minneapolis and the Guthrie.
Such a lovely place to go post theatre at the Guthrie! It was so cold and we didn't have to walk outside to enter the restaurant, which was the first plus. The restaurant space is spectacular and matched the grandeur of the entire Guthrie space. Originally, we had planned to have dinner there before the show but instead we had to move our reservation to 10:15pm which is crazy late for us to have dinner. The food and service were wonderful, even at that hour, and we never felt rushed. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful evening.
Really wish there were more lunch items on the weekend menu.
Have hated the “brunch” menu since it started.
My wife and I come for pre-theater (matinee) lunch occasionally, and really miss the lunch menu. We’ve usually had breakfast 4-5 hours ago when we come there, and don’t want another.
Used to love the Cobb salad, crab cake BLT, and other lunch items no longer available on weekends. We just go elsewhere a lot more now.
We had the pleasure of dining 4 times within the holiday season at Sea Change, due to attending theater productions at the Guthrie. Every single time, we were treated so very well by the staff, ambiance and the food!! It will always be our 'Go-to' Favorite Restaurant in that neighborhood! From the Front Host/Hostess Stand to the great service provided by Peter or JoAnn...We had a hard time leaving after our wonderful dining experience! We will be back and we will tell our theater friends!! Thank You, Sea Change!
We only eat at Sea Change if for convenience prior to attending a play at the Guthrie, particularly when the weather is not at all good. If the weather is nice and we can get a reservation at a preferable restaurant, we choose to dine elsewhere. The atmosphere and service are good, but the menu and preparations are mediocre in comparison with other downtown dining establishments.
We went to Sea Change for Sat. brunch before an afternoon matinee. It was a VERY cold day so it was nice to park in the lot across the street and just walk into the front door of the Guthrie and then to the attached Sea Change with no going out again. Food was good. One orders off the menu; it is not a buffet. My husband liked the biscuits and gravy, and I enjoyed the crab cakes Benedict. A little slow on the "bottomless" mimosas. We also got alfagatos which were designed more like desserts than in a cup to drink. (One never knows how the chef is going to decide to present this food "dish," but this time it came with cookies even.) We ordered it during our drink order and the waitress hadn't said anything so we were surprised when it arrived. Since it was listed in amongst the main entrees, it was even easier to be confused by its nature.
I had eaten lunch at Sea Changes a few times and was always impressed by the quality of the food. This was our first experience for dinner. We were attending Blithe Spirit and thought it would be a convenient dinner location on a cold winter night. Based on lunch, my expectations were high but they were totally exceeded. After a thorough review of the menu and some many wonderful choices, I decided on the Roasted Pears followed by the Steelhead. Both were absolutely wonderful. The Roasted Pears were so light and delicious and the Steelhead was cooked to perfection. Seared on one side so it went from well done to rare and absolutely melted in my mouth. We will be back!
My wife and I have dined here a few times and recommend it to many people.
The food is fantastic and the service is great.
The originality of the menu and the use and care of ingredients is incredible.
It may sound like a small thing but I had Steelhead and Carrots and it was great, it was in fact the best carrot`s I have ever eaten, nothing fancy just a perfectly cooked carrot.
Who would think a simple roasted carrot could be improved on, but it was.
This restaurant was also where I had the best Oxtail soup I have ever had, when it was on the menu.
Recommending SeaChange is putting it lightly. It is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at.
Totally enjoyed our dinner at Sea Change good was amazing especially the brussel sprouts and tuna app. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and timely. We were running late and they still had us out in time for the show. Food was much better than I remembered.
Loved the atmosphere. Great date or special occasion place. Everything I ate was unique & delicious. I wish the server had informed us that the starters were to share. We each ordered one and it was too much food for a starter though delicious. Would love to go back anytime. Very convenient for attending the Guthrie.
Caramel roll large enough to share but bottom was a little burned , so was the muffin bottom on my eggs benedict. But still a delicious crabcake version of benedict. No children's menu available on lunch and brunch. Service excellent and fast which we appreciated since we had a 1 pm show. Its so convenient to be able to eat right in theater building
Overall, very nice dining experience before our Guthrie performance. The food was okay but not spectacular. Service was definitely on par with other fine dining experiences. Ambiance was also quite good and noise level that my wife and I were able to have a nice conversation. Overall a good pre-Guthrie experience.
Great, relaxing setting. Food was amazing, and waitress was super friendly and nice. Was here for a pre-theater dinner, and they were sure to get our food in a timely fashion and had us out in time. Took time to explain the menu well and offer suggestions. Would definitely come back again.
Sea Change was perfect for my friends and I to get a lovely dinner, exceptional cocktails and a lovely atmosphere prior to attending an event at the adjoining Guthrie Theater.
A delightful evening - food was wonderful, cocktails perfect, service was very good. Everything was just what we wanted and the price was more reasonable than anticipated.
