Sea Change Ratings and Reviews
Sea Change was perfect for my friends and I to get a lovely dinner, exceptional cocktails and a lovely atmosphere prior to attending an event at the adjoining Guthrie Theater.
A delightful evening - food was wonderful, cocktails perfect, service was very good. Everything was just what we wanted and the price was more reasonable than anticipated.
Disappointing. The seafood seemed good and fresh and mine was prepared well enough, but no one at the table was overjoyed with what they got. It's also a hard place for dietary restrictions. To her credit our server was well informed and helpful. But they couldn't do small things like offer vinegar and oil to replace a dressing with dairy for a lactose intolerant guest. They're just not set up for any variations. Just bear in mind that this is a high volume pre-theater place and don't expect special considerations or finesse.
I was unable to attend-pneumonia. My theater ticket was given to our 6.5 granddaughter. She had buttered noodles and the other adults ( husband, son and daughter-in-law and daughter and son-in-law loved their the entire meal. Hopefully I will be able to try your beautiful restaurant. Hard for me to review when not present, but my family seemed well pleased
The food, service, interior design and general atmosphere were everything a person could want from a restaurant. It's not cheap, but the best never is. Perfect for anniversary, birthday, pre-Guthrie (if you come early so you don't rush the experience). And I also appreciate the fact that the noise level is low enough so I can converse, and the tables are not packed together into the space.
Note to Open Table: Oddly, seafood is NOT one of the categories that can be checked off above. It should be.
We usually dine here before the plays at the Guthrie and remarked that we need to come at other times as well. The food and service are just that good! The scallops were delicious and sweet, there is always a wonderful selection of fresh oysters, there is a fun and interesting cocktail menu, and the service is professional, knowledgeable, and unobtrusive. Thanks for another winning dining experience, Sea Change!
As always, Sea Change was wonderful. The oysters were fresh and sweet, and the salmon tartine was almost perfect. It could have used a few more capers, but I can suffer. Service, provided by Lindsy, was perfect, and the show I saw afterward was just as perfect.
I have requested to be at Lindsy's table next visit.
This was my second visit to Sea Change in the past three years, and one thing I can say is the quality and service hasn’t changed it is still just as fantastic!!
The pineapple cocktail was divine, just enough sweet to balance the strength of the liquor.
The Brussels sprouts and the attic char were expertly executed.
The affangato was divine and a perfect ending.
I have Celiac disease, so I’m very careful of where I eat. They were very attentive to my needs and knowledgeable of the preparations of the food so I felt assured there wouldn’t be any cross contamination.
Great Service! We arrived and were seated in the waiting lounge while our table was being prepped. Our server forgot to return to take our drink orders so instead he got us a round on the house. That was totally not necessary and it was very gracious of him to do so! Our server during dinner was attentive and friendly! The food was delicious, we honestly ordered a little bit of everything. All of the dishes were tasty and surprising, including the Broccoli appetizer which sounded simple but it was far from that! We highly recommend the Steelhead Salmon for dinner, it is imply amazing and we'll be coming back soon to have this dish!!!
It's a limited menu, but all of the fish is fresh. I decided to try the Steelhead and wasn't too pleased with it. The waitress offered to bring me scallops, but I stuck with the fish. I tried my friend's scallops and they were insanely good. On a different occasion, I had the Bouillabaisse, and liked it. If you're going to see a play at The Guthrie, you should make Sea Change part of your night.
I hadn't been to Sea Change for a while so I am happy to report it is as wonderful as ever. The food was creative without being too far out, well-executed, and just plain delicious! The room is still beautiful and the service was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend a visit to Sea Change.
Our waiter recommended the octopus as "the best in the city", and it didn't disappoint.
The steelhead was awesome as well, and the wine recommendations were all well paired.
Oysters, yes oysters in Minneapolis were fresh and matched the accompanying tasting notes.
All in all a very satisfying meal.
First time visit for us on a special Birthday event and we had a 10:00 reservation after the Guthrie event. Since we were early to the show we wanted to check our reservation we made online and have a pre-show drink at the bar which was quite busy on a normal Friday at 6:00.
I checked with the host about moving the reservation to 10:15 since the show last to about that
time and did not want to lose our spot. He was very helpful and gave us some hints of the menu both food and drinks. After the show we arrived and they sat us in a nice quiet corner as the place was still busy and getting busier but not too loud from others who had our same idea after the show. Our server was very good and knowledgeable about the menu. We split a app and a dinner which was fantastic. The smoked salmon app was listed as raw and was very tasty with
same results on the dinner which was steelhead with flavorful small side of quinoa and lobster bisque. Have to mention the fresh bread that had multiple types and very tasty. Our server tried to persuade the deserts but we had apple crisp at home. We told her that we'd be back.
We've eaten a Sea Change four or five times. The other times, I've had some doubts whether the food was worth the price. The cuisine is certainly very creative and the service excellent, however the absolute quality of the food still did not impress. This time was different - for instance, the arctic char I had was truly exceptional, with the given portion being reasonable and the fish succulent, being a pleasure to eat bite by bite.
We had an absolutely delightful dinner at Sea Change. The service was exceptional- attentive without being obtrusive. Our server was both fun and knowledgeable- he steered us to some great choices! The pea pods are amazing. I had the char and my husband had the steelhead. Both delicious. He said the steelhead was perhaps the best fish he'd had ever! Lovely time, lovely restaurant, great food and service. We will return and highly recommend!
