This was a beautiful restaurant to have a very special dinner. The service was a bit off due to the rush coming just before us but overall the food was amazing, the wine was perfect and we had a great time.
Server, I think Phil, was great. Martinis were exceptional and they even made it with Blue Cheese olives. Most enjoyable!
over the past 3 years we have been to over 90 restaurants in the twin cities and sea change continues to offer sophisticated innovated fare and excellent wine pairings... the softly lit, not overly noisy ambience enhances your dining experience... this is the perfect quality place for either a romantic dinner or enjoyable date for 4...enjoy!
Disappointing Quality Control on their food. Staff did bend over backwards to make the experience better.
The food was amazing. The raw oysters hit the spot. It was a nice option for dining before the show. Would definitely return!!
The food is very fresh and very well prepared. The service is haphazard and slow. We went at 6:00 and had tickets for a play at the Guthrie at 7:30. We had time for a drink, an appetizer and a main dish. No salad, no desert -- not enough time.
The drink were made to perfection.
The iceberg salad was surprisingly tasty with a delicious dressing.
The entrees, scallops and branzino, were prepared with a flavorful combination of flavors and textures.
All in all, the dining experience was very satisfying.
A reminder of what food at an excellent restaurant tastes like.
A very pleasant surprise. Great food. Great service. Nice ambiance. Great location for dinner prior to a Guthrie show.
Service was poor. No host at the door, and the bartender acted like he didn’t see us for several minutes while he was working, then after there was a small group of people standing at the door he decided to acknowledge us and seat us. Initial wait staff introduced herself to us but then another took a very service for the table. Seemed like we waited a long time without seeing wait staff throughout the meal. Saw plates come out to the wrong tables around us. Not worth the $95 price of brunch, without any alcoholic drinks.
Waiter had many tables. He did the best he could I think.
Dinner before show
Perfect. Wonderful food service and ambiance. I live in NYC and have dined at top restaurants and this was right up there
Birthday celebration for daughter who turned 21. Meal was excellent.
Tremendous food, phenomenally constructed cocktails, great service team! Presentation was amazing. We loved it.
We are very happy with our new cocktail menu. Thank you!
I had the Scallops, I was nervous ordering this in the Midwest. This may have been the finest meal I have ever eaten. The service, Kevin, was impeccable. I am only here for two nights and wish I had gone back for the second night.
I have been going to Sea Change since it opened and it remains a personal favorite with me. Great food, very good service and the noise levels allow you to have a conversation.
We are happy to hear that you still enjoy our restaurant.
I ordered the ribeye, which came with french fries. I enjoyed the ribeye but was much disappointed in the fries. I would think that an up-scale eatery as this is would take time to actually peel potatoes and make real/fresh fries. I can get the frozen fries at any fast-food chain store.
This is the first time we have eaten lunch here. We have eaten dinner there for years. We were very pleased with the menu and especially Kevin our server. Will be coming before every Guthrie matinee.
We had tickets for Judy Collins at 7:30 and hadn’t been to sea change for a meal, just beverages so we booked it. They recommend if going to the Guthrie make reservations for 6:15 or earlier, we had 6:00. There were 6 of us, we advised our waitress we were going to concert. We ordered our drinks then our food. We were advised at 7:00 our food would come out separately. At 7:20, 3 of us didn’t receive our salads, 2 people got theirs but with their entree at 7:20. We did notice the restaurant was empty and we were being served. We all ate some of our food then got up to get our bills and to see the manager. We said we thought we should be comped entirely for the mess. We each were charged a different amount. One couple charged 45.00 one 15.00 and one 10.00. We had to argue with manager, go look at what we left. 1/2 our meals or drinks.
We will never go back. But recommend not going there before a play or concert, even though they are connected to the Guthrie.
Wonder how many times this has happened in the past.
I frequently go to Sea Change not only when visiting the Guthrie Theater, but also for fine dining at other times. The restaurant has made a transition from an earlier incarnation. Some of my favorite dishes have been taken off the menu (including the incredible bouillabaisse), but the food retains its high standard with excellent seafood, and the addition of non-seafood items. The ambiance is beautiful and the service impeccable.
Another excellent meal before a performance. 3 out of 4 of us had the Sunday brunch special Eggs Benedict with Arctic Char and it was wonderful. We are season ticket holders and love dining here before seeing the show.
This is the only restaurant that we have ever been to where all three of us each hought that our entree was the best.
Food was superb from the avocado toast to the branzino to the ganache. They had a very good cocktail selection as well. Glad we walked there!
Look forward to our next visit.
I started with a drink from the new cocktail list, called Dill Dreaming. It was delicious, but maybe a tad sweet for the oysters that followed. I'm not complaining, though. I loved it. My oysters were sweet and juicy as always, and I followed them with a new take on Eggs Benedict, made with Arctic char cake. It was superb. A glass of Gewurztraminer set it off nicely, and I went upstairs to see a powerful production of "The Glass Menagerie", so I guess you could call it a nice brunch.
Lovely place for brunch or dinner - with or without attending a performance. Always excellent service. Food is great.
Back for my wife’s birthday and she was delighted to get back to Sea Change again. The good and service was excellent.
The service was horrible. I'm glad that we gave ourselves additional time since we were going to the Matinee. The food was okay, but not worth the wait. They definitely didn't have enough staff to handle the crowd.
I would recommend for dinner - but not for lunch. The lunch menu was bleak at best.
Expected better. Service was really slow even though the restaurant was practically empty. Food was reasonable but nothing to write home about. There was a major error on the bill, not in our favor.
Overall, did not meet expectations.
Tuna tartare was covered in mayo...supposed to have jalapeños but no real flavor. Shrimp avocado toast was pretty but also one-note. Fish entrees were Ok but not memorable. Disappointing
Elegant, yet very comfortable decor with abundance of natural light. Our service was very
personable and efficient. My wife and I each had the Arctic char which was outstanding and
the chocolate decadence for dessert - sinfully good! We will definitely return.
I really enjoyed this restaurant and they accommodated my food allergy issues very responsibly and graciously. It was a great dining experience all around.
I made reservations based on reviews of the food and the excellent view of the river. Was planning on a special night out. I somehow was under the impression that the restaurant was on the top floor of the building, not the bottom. There were no pictures regarding the view on the website. While the food was excellent, and the service was as well, the view was a concrete post obstructing anything resembling a view and caution tape surrounding the outside patio area. Not what I was looking for in a special night out.
We were one of three tables during our dinner so while the noise was no existent, a little concerning where everyone was on a Friday night at 7:00 PM.
Food was exceptional.
All good. Menu was small but that may be because it is often changed.
We had a great evening with our family. Thank you 😁Phillip was fabulous!
Food was exceptional.
Average food... average drinks....out of one main fish early in the evening
The food wasn't as good as it was in the past. The octopus, which I've had at Sea Change before, was covered in a sweet sauce (yuck) and lacked the appealing accompaniments it used to have. My companion's scallops (the most costly item on the menu) were good and well prepared, but the branzino I ordered was too crisped, perhaps having been cooked at too high a temperature, and too salty; I couldn't finish it. It seems that the chef as well as the recipes have been altered for the worse.
I am traveling for business in Minneapolis and staying near Sea Change. I love seafood so I decided to dine here on a free evening. By far the best seafood restaurant I have dined at in Minneapolis. Sit at the raw bar if you want extra special service and treats. I ordered a tasting of oysters (stick with east coast), asparagus burrata, and the best branzino I have ever had. I was surprised by a lovely langoustine app and a decident cheese plate . This is at the Guthrie Theatre ...must go if you love sea food and great service. I will be back!
We love this venue for a pre-theater datenight!!!
We sat at the oyster bar during our first visit to sea change and enjoyed outstanding food and service from start to finish. The octopus appetizer was absolutely selfish. We’ll be back for sure!
fish expertly prepared (Arctic char and bronzino). Coffee only warm from two pots! Have been with you before and will do so again.
