Sea Captain's House
Our dedication to quality has been the foundation on which we have preserved our heritage. To preserve old traditions, but also remain competitive in today’s time, we are dedicated to offering local and always “Be Fresh” products.
Whether it is using local farmers for produce or outsourcing our seafood purchases to local fisherman, we strive to do business with natives and locals. We believe the Carolina’s have some of the best products and traditions in the world, which we want to convey to our guests.
Traditions cannot be carried on without a faithful and enthusiastic clientele, and for that we thank you.
I think the food was mediocre at best
I think it was quite expensive for what you got
Overall I would not plan to go again
Our server was pleasant
Ordered a ribeye w crab and shrimp on top. It was a 14 oz with about maybe 5 oz of edible meat the other 9 oz was all fat. Crab dip was amazing though and our waitress was good.
Great as always. We eat there every year on our annual vacation.
Beautiful setting! Food was delicious! Jambalaya outstanding! Excellent service!
I had the sea bass which was a feature of the day on tacos. I didn't want the tacos, just the sea bass and a side. the server was more than willing to ask the chef and was able to accommodate. We were also there to celebrate my mother-in-laws birthday. They noticed that on the reservation and gave us a great window seat, ocean-side. We are local and Sea Captains has been a favorite of ours for a long time. Never disappoints!
Staff was friendly an professional. Server was training someone, both were attentive. Food was excellent. We have been coming to Sea Captain's House for over 40 years. The she-crab soup our fav. The last dinner visit, we were so disappointed we said we wouldn't come back. Next trip we will have dinner and try the soup again based on the excellent crab cake benedicts.
The quality of food and service were phenomenal! The only issue was the ladies washroom stalls smelled like an out house.
Ryan was awesome and the bartender created great cocktails and was very nice as well, Great food! Loved the local seafood as it is hard to find which is odd since we are so close to the ocean.
We had a very nice dinner - as always.
This was our 1st visit to this restaurant which was a top pick on Trip Advisor. We made reservations via Open Table and it saved us at least 30 minutes of wait time. Decor is nautical, with views of the ocean, but no outdoor seating. Parking is located across the street. Scallops were delicious as was the pecan crusted grouper. I would recommend this restaurant to any Myrtle Beach visitor...but make a reservation with Open Table to enhance your experience.
Great food, nice view and reasonable price. Good service and atmosphere.
Total experience was great! Recommend to others Service staff courteous and professional
We made reservations for a special dinner for our 36th Anniversary.
The food was awesome, waitstaff awesome, the manager came by to chat to see if everything was satisfactory. They also gave us a nice celebratory dessert that we shared. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I went to the sea captains house for breakfast during our honeymoon. Now normally, I’m not a fan of breakfast buffets because I feel that the food quality suffers as they get cheaper options and they sit in warmers (see: powdered eggs and dry biscuits). But this breakfast was delicious! It was really good and didn’t taste like a breakfast buffet. Plus, the view is INCREDIBLE for breakfast. How could you not want delicious, unlimited breakfast with an ocean view?
Food and our server was great. We had a long wait time even with a reservation. Many guests were not being seated quickly
You simply can’t beat the ocean side view. Our meal was great and service was great too.
The food was outstanding but the service we received was poor every other table got bread while me and my wife didn’t receive any bread
Solid food and attentive service. Great ocean views.
Excellent food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance! This is my favorite restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area. I highly recommend it!
Really enjoyed this wonderful restaurant! Food was incredible and the service was over the top! Can’t say enough great things about them!
great location overlooking the beach, perfect for the area
food simple but honest and good quality, not fancy but a good experience
Had a reservation and seated close to that time with nice ocean view. Order taken in a timely matter and service was good. Salad was ok, fried shrimp had good taste but batter was way too crunchy, baked potato was not freshly baked, hushpuppies were good. Been coming here a number of years but lots of other places to go for as good of food at a better price
I would describe my experience at The Sea Captain’s House as heartbreaking. My family and I have been frequenting the restaurant for at least 7 years and have never, ever had an unsatisfactory experience until this Sunday. They must have changed key personnel because everything from the food to the service was not usual. The food was a complete waste. I always get the pecan crusted grouper, salad, veggies, and grits. This time, my grouper was hardly crusted, not cooked golden, and horribly bland. My salad was mostly old, cheap lettuce. My veggies were supppsed to be sautéd broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and onions. I ended up with crunchy broccoli and onions. My grits were barely cheesy and very bland. My husband’s ribeye was bland and tough. We barely ate, left most of it behind, and paid $95. Unacceptable! We will most likely never go back.
The Sea Captain’s House never disappoints. Superb waitstaff, view and of course the cuisine is consistently wonderful.
Seated promptly. Service was great. Food was outstanding and the view beautiful. Definitely would return.
Waaaaaaay too much going on. Too many people, not enough service staff. Kitchen staff couldn't keep up. The poor servers were way over-worked. Food was good, but my wife and I had to wait quite a while for a server. Hate to say it, but what a zoo! Will not be going back here again :-(
Mob mentality...there were too many reservations for the amount of staff. Most of us waited over an hour to be seated and that was with reservations. Once inside there were many open tables that were set up and waiting for customers. Kitchen was prompt ....even to the point our meals were presented when we were just half way through the salad. Food was excellent.
We had an 8 pm reservation and never got text to get our table before the restaurant closed. Big disappointment!!
Our experience at Sea Captains was wonderful. Our waitress was friendly and gave us excellent service. The food was delicious. I will start going there when I travel to Myrtle Beach.
Yearly visit. Wonderful experiences. Great food. Service is always excellent.
Our food was AMAZING! The service was very good. My family and I felt the quality for what we paid for dinner was great. We ordered the clam chowder, a shrimp cocktail, the salmon, the scallops and finished with a slice of the hummingbird cake. Everything was simply outstanding. We were on vacation for a week and went to Sea Captain's twice -- it was just delicious! We will be back!
Best crab cakes ever , best waitress, beautiful view
We arrived early for our reservations and they took us in 10 minutes early! The wait staff was excellent as was the food! You can tell that the whole staff is involved in making it the best experience possible!
The food is very tasty. I would recommend eating here . Service was great .
We (2 of us) made reservations for 7:45 pm, but arrived quite early—around 7 pm—as the restaurant recording stated they welcomed walk-ins. We checked in upon arrival, telling the hostess we had reservations, but arrived early hoping to be seated sooner. She stated it would probably be closer to our reservation time before being seated. We Waited, waited and waited—only to see many parties arriving after us to be seated before us. Just around 7:45 we began to ask about our reservation and were told we would be seated shortly. Once again, we saw many others being seated before us, who had arrived after we had. We continued to check in and ask about being seated and finally were told we were next—only to observe several other parties being seated ahead of us. Other patrons were also getting quite agitated of not being seated. After being very persistent at 8:15 we were FINALLY seated, next to a very loud and obnoxious party of six; meanwhile, there were several empty tables scattered throughout the restaurant. The front desk system just seemed to be a disaster with no rhyme or reason!
Our waitress was fine; although, my chosen vegetable was not the one she had quoted to me, and upon arrival it ended up being green beans and nothing to brag about. The hush puppies were outstanding and my portion of fried flounder was delicious; our salads were nothing special, with a lot of dressing spread over the top.
This was our first experience at Sea Captain’s House, which was not at all a good one, and not one one appealing to return to.
I am not a seafood fan, however this place was so delicious I absolutely loved it!
I wish we had visited Sea Captain's House earlier in the week so I had additional tastes to better evaluate, but I wasn't happy with my Carolina Catch on Friday night. I had Opah. I don't think it was cooked right. I should have said something early into my meal, but didn't want to complain. I don't like raw fish. It was not raw, but not cooked through and not too my taste. It seemed like a fish I would like to try again, but cooked well or at least different and with different seasoning. I did do some research, since I did not know anything about Opah. It is a pink fish that is suppose to turn white when cooked and this fish was still pinkish when I was eating it. I was not happy with risotto either, but I ate it. It was very dry, but the mushrooms in it were very tasty. The ladies I was with like their meals- Shrimp and Grits, steak with baked potato. The salad was very good and fresh with house dressing which was very good.
The service was excellent!
The people sitting at the bar were very loud and seemed to be having a very good time. It was very crowded for Friday night dinner and it is open for breakfast and lunch.
I ate there a couple of years ago for lunch, had crab cakes and a salad and it was excellent. I should have gotten the crab cakes again, I guess.
Was 2nd visit during week long visit to Myrtle Beach. It’s the only duplicate body during this visit here.
Been thinking about going and always saw it as a long wait. Open Table showed I could get a reservation so I jumped on it. Absolutely great.
She crab soup is out of this world! I probably would have gotten a bowl instead of a cup if I would have know it was so good! Hush puppies were good also.
