Scrollbar Waterside Kitchen
We went here for Valentine's Day dinner and it was a disaster. We spent two hours mostly waiting for our food. Our waiter was almost never anywhere to be seen, and didn't check in until well after we'd finished our entrees. The wait for dessert was especially interminable, and when my wife was finally able to flag down the waiter, it was clear he had just forgotten about it and us. There was never any acknowledgment of a problem.
The couple next to us seemed to be having it even worse, and asked to speak to the manager, who comped them based on the fact they were members of the hotel's loyalty program.
At least the food was OK.
Had huevros rancheros and it was the absolute worst I have ever had. Must have been a substitute chef that day. The tortilla was a sticky mess and tasted like paste. I barely ate any of the entree. Next time I will have the safe omelette instead. Breakfast used to be awesome here years ago. They had French Press coffee which they stopped serving as it was too much extra effort on the part of the servers. They also used to have egg white frittata which was awesome and they did away with that too. The view is lovely but don’t expect fine food 😬
Great service, easy to get to since we were staying a the hotel. The restaurant was freezing cold which they had no control over but it was very uncomfortable. The food was locally sourced and fresh and creative. Priced just right. Highly recommend it if you are staying at the hotel or near by.
Went here for Christmas dinner as I was thoroughly impressed. The price point is a little high as it is a luxury hotel, but it seems worth it overall. The food was delicious and the cocktails intoxicating. This location used to be a French restaurant before they changed concepts, and it seems the quality and attention to detail has carried over. A very enjoyable experience.
Very cozy place, good service and pleasant server.
Dessert options could be improved. Some ice cream or tiramisu perhaps ;) ?
Great food. Service is always attentive! Ahmed E was the bartender but due to a wait staff shortage, he waited on our area. He was personable and so nice. The manager and the other helper were also great. We didn’t miss a beat!
I would definitely give them positive review for ambience, service and wait staff. However, the food has a long way to go. They absolutely destroyed what could’ve been a beautiful piece of sablefish by flooding it in probably 2 cups of oil and it was served in a floating oil miso dilution. That is not how to prepare a fish. I’m not sure where they got their chef from but that is scary. It’s such a shame they don’t have their act together regarding the food. I sure hope it improves.
Food was gross. Turkey tasted processed, not fresh. Water and sodas tasted like they were chlorinated. Chicken Caprese had 1 slice of mozzarella cheese -again, processed, not fresh. Very disappointed. The place looked like it was going to be great and it was like cafeteria food.
First impression: no hostess at the podium. Looked around and the bartender made eye contact. I inquired if it was open seating and he said it was to pick a table.
I decided to grab a couple menus.
A few minutes later, presumably the hostess stopped by and basically reprimanded us for having sat without checking in.
The server arrived reasonably promptly as did our orders of water.
I ordered the beet and quinoa salad which I found was more than sufficiently drenched in dressing. My fault for not asking for the dressing in the side.
After receding the check and waiting more than necessary I got up with our credit cards to find out server.
The restaurant is part of a hotel and has a nice view. Likely a good place for happy hour.
Our waiter, Benny was just great! The charcuterie platter was very generous and beautifully presented. My husband had the Seafood Piri and he said it was one of the best tasting meals he'd ever had. I went lighter with cappelini with squash, broccoli and tomatoes. I was full from the appetizer, but it was very good as well. We had great coffee and split an okay dessert. Nice place and we will go back!
Very limited menu. Completely over priced for what I got! I would NOT recommended this restaurant to anyone. Poor value.
This place is fantastic. Service, ambience and the food are top notch. Such a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere
Basically an upscale hotel restaurant with a view of theà lagoon albeit across the hotel swimming area
Reviewing for the Mother's Day buffet. Had long wait even with reservation to get seated (30 min). Place was chaotic and server did not come by within first ten minutes of being seated so we just got up and went to the serving stations. Selections overall were good but not particularly impressed by the food. Eggs benedict was getting old in the steam pans, bacon was ok, the carving station ok but meat (prime rib and lamb) tasted livery. I did not try the omelette/crepe station but others enjoyed. Seafood selection was mixed bag. Crab legs and shrimp were a bit off-tasting. They had a poke salad but every time I went up it was empty...only to find it full again returning w/ desert and too full to enjoy. Deserts were ok. Generally servers were absent and had to flag them down if we needed anything. Was shocked at the price $90/adult $40/child and then they added a 19+% buffet service charge on top. I assume that is in lieu of tip but likely not a huge incentive for servers. Have had better brunches for price. Would not go back for this one.
Mother’s Day beunch
The Mother’s Day Brunch is amazing and delicious! The food quality and preparation is high-end, the live music adds to the wonderful ambiance, and the newly added massages was a great addition to round out the experience. All of this taking place at a top flight Hotel in Redwood Shores! This is our second year, and I am planning to attend to as long as they have it! Oh yeah, the deserts this year were sweet and devine! The choices, such as red velvet cake and cheese cake, were spectacular!
Great food and very friendly service of not perfectly accurate. Very accommodating.
Took a group of friends here for a birthday after traveling all week. What an amazing level of service and food was impeccable.
The worst service ever. It took a VERY long while to serve the food and long lapses in between courses, hardly saw the waiter. My soup was brought to me after some people had left and at the very end. I left the soup at the table.
$32 for a small plate of fried lobster! The staff were great, but make your food match the prices
Great omelettes and toast for breakfast. The chairs and benches are super uncomfortable (to get you to eat faster???) but the view is awesome. I miss the French Press coffee the former management served though. It was amazing!!!
All was delish!
The experience from the start was on point. This was my first time coming here after being recommended by a friend, and I will definitely be back! Walking in the restaurant was very welcoming. We were greeted by the manager Taryn who went out of here way to make sure we enjoyed our time there. She made sure we were seated right away, and while she was very busy guiding her well run ship in the night, she still made time to come talk to us, always offering anything else she could for us. The food here was fantastic from the perfectly cooked octopus appetizer to the best ribeye I have ever had to date.
Fantastic once again. My new favorite hot spot on the peninsula.
Extremely disappointing. Only our table and another were dinning at that time. Took forever to get initial contact with the waiter to get drinks, disproportionate time gaps between serving courses. Ordered 4 appetizers for us to nibble on. Never delivered the antipasto plate. When the entrees were eventually served he mentioned forgetting to serve the antipasto and actually asked if we still wanted it after he brought the main course!
I ordered the grilled pork chop with extra cherries. The pork chop was literally raw, showed it to him and he took it back to the kitchen with barely an apology.
Two folks did not attend so we were only a party of 6. Having worked as a waiter I understand putting a mandatory gratuity on a check for large parties but to see your policy applied to a party of 6 after such poor service was insulting.
Adding insult to injury; after dropping over $600 on this bill they refused to validate my valet parking! What a terrible experience overall !!!!
The service here is what really makes this place good for everyday dining. The servers and bartenders are attentive, sociable, and most importantly of great character. Oh yeah; the adult beverages aren’t too bad either. It is pricey for the Shores, but the hotel where this restaurant resides is high scale.
Very noisy tonight due to a large group taking up most of the dining and bar areas. Service was slow, and seemed stretched or understaffed, but our server was good once we got their attention. Food was delicious.
A nice place if you go on the right night.
This was a 51st year high school reunion and the staff was really helpful in every way, particularly the manager.
For a “restaurant” to expect you to make dinner reservations- this was a wayyyyyy overpriced surprise.
Overpriced for food and drinks. $16 for a small cocktail.
One waiter and one non speaking bus staff running around for a Saturday evening.
Setup is more like a lounge seating area with tables- NOT a restaurant.
We were told by the one waiter to “pick a table”. Then sat at the table with terrible tasting tap water with no menus for several minutes. When the waiter finally came around, he asked for our order- I had to tell him we never received menus.
Food was overpowered by the sauces.
Lighting was so dim that I felt they were saving on the electric bill as opposed to creating ambience. Seriously.
When I booked this on Open Table- I saw the word “Waterside” which led me to believe there was some type of view. Well, I guess the pool accounts as water, so therefore, they weren’t wrong. Perhaps change their name to “Poolside Lounge” and they would be as described.
food and service were good, but very noisy gathering in the bar which is contiguous with the restaurant; so loud we could not carry on a conversation.
Great food and service! Loved the dishes and drinks!
Absolutely amazing! Stellar service. Food was served hot. Unfortunately the view was blocked by a green screen that covered the pool.
This is a hidden little gem. Great food and great service
Great food and even better service. This hotel restaurant was way beyond my expectations
Parking fee of $6 not ok. Alcohol $$ high. Service, food and ambiance was A#1!!!!
Place is open floor plan in bottom of hotel. Not your typical hotel food. Will be back
Tasty food and great service! Nice view of the Redwood Shores water. A little pricey but good quality
I wanted to try out the restaurant after reading about it in the Mercury News. The fact that they are dog-friendly made it more appealing. It was a Friday and after 1pm so the crowds had gone, but the staff was short-handed. Everyone was very pleasant, but it took quite some time to get our food. The blistered shishito peppers were very greasy as was the burger. The roasted asparagus quinoa salad was fair - I had asked for the dressing on the side but it came on it and was not to ma=y taste, but I didn't want to wait any longer. As for noise, you are under the flight path from Hillier Airport so conversation needs to stop briefly for every plane. It might be good for happy hour, but I won't be going back.
Sorry to say we were really disappointed. Our friend asked us to go there because of the Sunset recommendation.
The place is in grey concrete buildings. Hard to find in the Pullman Hotel, paid parking, you can get validated for free parking.
We were uncertain of where we had to go on entry, to the Bar or restaurant. it was 9.45 , we had a reservation for breakfast. (Bar was right). No one greeted us, finally a bus-boy said to sit anywhere. There were 5 tables in use, and the rest were loaded with dirty dishes and we could see lots of food on them. Finally he came back and pushed 2 tables together. We could not sit out side, which was just as well as you have to stand up to see over the swimming pool, over the hedge and over the wrought iron fence, to look at drainage canals for the bay and tons of grey concrete.
The waiter sauntered over and offhandedly asked us what we wanted. we ordered 2 coffees and a Bloody Mary and a beer. " I have to see about drinks". Back he came" no drinks in Morning". Though there was Mimosa's on the menu. The people next door got up and left half their meals....and said " don't bother its awful".
As our waiter had not bothered to return, we did not bother to stay in that cold, steel and glass place. They did not charge us for parking(that was the only good thing!)
