Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

Went for a business lunch there with a client from out of state. He enjoyed the food. The noise level was a little loud to carry a conversation without straining to raise my voice. Look into some acoustic treatment at the ceiling perhaps- or lower the music volume when you have a full house.

I love Screen Door Eastside but had never been to the Pearl location, so decided to give it a try. What a disappointment! The noise level was out of control! There were six of us at our table (round) and we could not hear the person even next to us without leaning in and yelling. It took over an hour to receive our food after we ordered. The server apologized and did comp a round of drinks, but that is too long to wait for food. And the group seated next to us reeked of weed, which I know is not the restaurant's fault, but still, what a horrible experience.

The chicken was spiced a little too peppery- which I didn’t mind but others complained about. The collard greens looked and felt over cooked. But all in all, the delicious flavor was there and I enjoyed my dinner!

Outpost of a Portland institution in an elegant Pearl District locale. The fried chicken is the star of the dinner menu. Massive portions with fun Southern-inspired sides, ranging from okra to deviled eggs to boiled peanuts. Classy but not fancy with excellent service. Deserving of its place in the Portland culinary lexicon.

The food portion was more than enough and the price was good! The tables were a little too close together cause when the waiter slipped in between tables we moved our water glass so his ares didn’t spill the glass. All of the staff was great and as always the Screen Door was a great experience. Thank you.

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant!! The food is probably the best breakfast food I have ever had. We ordered the chicken and waffles, banana French toast, and a side of grits. There was 2 of us and plenty of food and we devoured every bite because it was so delicious! Besides the absolutely wonderful food, the service was fantastic. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so comfortable and was knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere is very cute, southern diner style. I can’t wait to go back with everyone I know and MAKE SURE they get to try the chicken and waffles.

Started with the praline bacon which got us off on the right start! Our server was great! My husband couldn’t stop talking about the cheese grits, loved them! Neat spot, I’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Portland!

Very disappointed. Walked over a mile to get there in the 20 degree snow and ice for my 8pm reservation. And they were closed. If the restaurant is closed please turn OFF your opentable and update your hours. Don’t take reservations when you are actually closed.

This was our first time at the Pearl Street Location. Love where it’s at. The vibe was definitely a southern flavor. It was 7pm on a Saturday so the volume was to be expected for how many people were there. The food was amazing. I got the chicken strips cornbread mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. My wife got the burger and sweet potato fries. Again, excellent food. The service was awful. It was the elements of Portland that keep me from visiting and I’m from Olympia, which can be pretentious too. I did not feel welcomed or served well. Our food order was given to our server right when we were first greeted. We got our food 50 minutes later. Our appetizer came about 15 after we gave our order and our drink was forgotten. Even with using open table to set our reservation, the person that we first encountered made us feel like waiting there was a burden even though we were 25 minutes early.

I ordered the Chicken and Waffles even though it was dinner time! It was delicious. My boyfriend over the chicken dinner - our chicken was extra crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sweet potato waffles had just a perfect sweetness level and the coleslaw was great!

The food was good and we were seated right at our reservation time. The table was small, and all the tables were so close to each other. There was very little room to put a coat or a bag next to me. We were frequently moving things around to fit the plates and cups during the meal. The restaurant was very busy. Food was delicious but took a long time. It seemed like the restaurant did not have enough people working because everyone was almost running to take care of the customers. The restaurant was quite loud. it was a bit difficult to have a conversation. I would go back with friends for casual dinning, but not for a date or special occasion.

First time to Screen Door and we loved it! The deviled eggs and hush puppies were divine. The breading on the catfish and chicken was excellent and the Mac and cheese as well as cauliflower/brussel sprout sides were first rate. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

Fantastic food, truly one of the best places in Portland. Keep in mind though that they don't actually reserve a table for you. If you make a "reservation", once you arrive, you skip the wait-list. But so does everyone else with a reservation. So it can easily take 15 minutes after your reserved time to get your table.

I had a reservation for Valentines Day that helped with being seated right away. The ambiance was inviting. The food was eye appealing, mouth watering, and delicious! The servers we had helped with my order that I accidentally made the mistake of not requesting bacon on my meal. I was given a new meal without being charged. I highly suggest a Blanche Devouroux if your interested in an alcoholic beverage! My table had ordered 3 and we all had agreed we could of ordered 3 more. I look forward to having another brunch lunch at Screen Door in the pearl district in the near future.

Went to dinner with friends a few weeks ago. The experience was disappointing enough that I won't return. The portions were incredibly small for the prices charged and the food was not something I would recommend. I left hungry after after spending close to $40 on food. I was excited to see hush puppies on the appetizer menu. I asked how many came in the $9.00 order, intending to share with the table. I was told around 5. I ordered them anyway. Each was about twice the size of a grape, definitely smaller than a golf ball. They were very dry. The pepper jam that accompanied them was delicious, but the hush puppies themselves were forgettable and I will not be tempted by them again. For my main course, I ordered chicken and dumplings. The Mary's all natural chicken advertised in the description was enticing, but almost undetectable. I was given the equivalent of 4 bites of shredded chicken in the center of a large bowl plate. The plate was otherwise comprised of a few dumplings that sat in a shallow liquid of rue/broth. The flavor was good, but I was charged somewhere in the range of $25 for almost nothing to eat. I was hungry after cleaning my plate and was gifted a piece of cornbread from a friend's plate. It was the dryest cornbread I've had in a long time. :(

Booked the bar when we got there we were offered a table they could have move a couple over so we could have had the bar seats we booked. Disappointed. Bar was quite overwhelmed took 40min for a drink. Food is always delicious service was way off this visit. Will go back but will call ahead to make sure we get the seats we book at the bar.
