Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

    Our server was great. The host was very short with us. We had a reservation for a table inside that was confirmed. When we arrived though she told us she could only seat us at the counter. We opted for outside. She took us outside but never informed the server. So about 20 minutes went by before he realized she had seated someone. The restaurant as a whole was great. Good food, great value, awesome server.

    The noise level inside the restaurant was loud enough to make normal conversation nearly impossible. I would return only when the weather was warm enough to comfortably sit outside.

    Needed a place for dinner near the theater we were going to attend and since we both love the Screen Door on the East side, we decided to give their new place in the Pearl a try. SO glad we did!!! Their second location is even better than the original in some ways. This will now be our “go to” place when we have Portland Center Stage theatre tickets.

    I'm a longtime fan of Sreen Door (eastside). First visit to Pearl District location - very nice! SD has a somewhat limited entree menu, but our group (10) enjoyed everything from appetizers (fried okra/hushpuppies) to desert (banana cream cake/PeanutButter pie(?)). Great cocktails as well!

    This was my first time going to ScreemDoor. The fried chicken was outstanding as well as the mac&cheese and drinks. Our server was a little forgetful on bring some items to the table though it didnt bother me that much. I would go again!!!

    Great food overall. The chicken is a little peppery and the waffle was a little hard. But the fried green tomato eggs Benedict and the fried okra was legit. Don’t miss the praline bacon. To die for!

    Arrived at 7 pm for our reservation and had our table ready. It was pretty warm and loud inside so they were able to seat us outside where it’s covered with heat lamps - very comfortable. 4 of us ordered some fried oysters and hush puppies for apps - all were very good. Main was a bbq platter for 2 plus a few salads and pieces of fried chicken breasts to share. All was very good but found it odd a bbq platter for 2 would come with 1 piece of bread and 1 assortment of 3 types of bbq sauces. Our server investigated and it was s mishap and fixed. 1 of the salads was sent back as something seemed off. The server happily replaced with a different salad. Only real problem / annoyance - The credit card machine was set at a 22% tip with others available of 25, 30 and 35%. Never thought I’d see the day where you had to do a custom tip for 20% which I had always considered to be good. Maybe I’m just getting old. Overall, I’d recommend Screen Door in the Pearl.

    I’m always looking for good chicken and waffles. I found it here, along with great collard greens. Portions are large. The Mac and cheese was creamy and very flavorful.

    We had been to the original Screen Door several times, and this time was not as good as in prior times. The ambiance of the NW location is nice, but the food was not a standout. It seemed expensive for what we got. My beverage did not meet local standards for a $13 cocktail. The fried chicken is the star, but when the rest of the meal and the sides don't hold up to the quality of the chicken it brings everything down. With so many stellar food choices in Portland, it will be hard to visit Screen Door again sorry to say.

    We wanted to eat outside for one of the last warm evenings of summer and thought of the Screen Door. Although the seating is partially on the sidewalk, the street isn't too busy to be annoying and it's fun to watch the foot traffic. The staff was prompt and helpful. I can only recommend the jambalaya because we all four of us got the same thing. And we all enjoyed it!

    My wife and I traveled to Portland to celebrate our anniversary, and on the recommendation of a friend, we chose this place for dinner that night. We are so glad we did. Everything was amazing from start to finish—the service, the wine, the food. Our only regret was that we had so much delicious food we didn’t try to get any dessert. Maybe next time.

    We love this place. This is wonderful Southern cooking. We ate at their location in the Portland airport once and they maintain the quality of food in all their locations. They seem to have been discovered so they are busy. You will need a reservation (learned that the hard way). I marked it was quiet but that was because we ate outside. Inside it was loud! They had heaters outside so it was quite comfortable. We will be back!

    We ordered the tomatoes as a starter as it was stated on the menu. The quiche came out first. No big deal just don’t call it a starter! Delicious food. Plates weren’t picked up at what I fee should be an appropriate time. Otherwise wonderful. Great staff. Love the vibe and food!
