Scratch Tapas and Craft Ratings and Reviews
We got stuck in Orlando due to weather at home, and happened upon Scratch due to other reviews. We could not have been more impressed! Scratch is small, but fun. The chef is the owner and sole cook, and her food is incredible. She's also incredibly friendly and accommodating. It's a small menu, but everything we had was amazing. The salmon is a must-try. As a resident of Chicago, I have high food expectations and Scratch did not disappoint. Make sure you stop by if you're in the area.
We went on a Saturday night having heard great reviews. But we were quite disappointed.
There were only 4 entrees on the menu and they were out of 2 and out of French Fries! We were there at 6 which means their daily menu was out of 50% of the entrees when they opened for dinner!!!!!
We will not return
I'm a fan of tapas restaurants, a wide variety of different dishes for all tastes is presented at Scratch. With small plates to share you get the opportunity to sample so many of them. It was great time, service was great and the food outstanding. My friend and I enjoyed every minute of this dining experience.
The first time we tried scratch they were fairly new and the food was excellent. This time unfortunately they were a bit under staffed. The food took some time to come out and I didn't feel that their menu was worth the price of each dish considering the sizes.
A delightful venue, with wonderful tapas, pleasant service. No real dinner entrees. per se. But a meal, nonetheless, with good wine selection at a reasonable price. Only drawback is a dicey neighborhood out back (where the parking is), and it's a couple of blocks off the main drag in WP, where the other delightful places are.
Food was exceptional. Place was understaffed, but all staff friendly. If they had more staff it would've been fine! We ordered 2 appetizers and a glass of wine and were there for an hour with most of the time waiting, we left to go elsewhere to order entrees. Again, what came from the kitchen was phenomenal, so looking forward to when their service speeds up!
We went to Scratch for a friends birthday and I will definitely be back! The staff were friendly and outgoing but not intrusive and the food was delicious! We had the meatballs, the potstickers and the pork skewers and all were unique and absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to sample more of their dishes on my next visit!
Could be fantastic. Beautiful restaurant.
They did allow a guest to have a car seat on the bar counter. Not necessarily discreetly but right In the middle. Now fair enough I get it. Baby's should be allowed wherever one dines but on this occasion we were celebrating a birthday and were hoping to have a really intimate and adult dining experience. It turned out it was a staff member who had their day off but came in to spend time with colleagues. Just killed the mood of a room that was designed to be intimate and boutique. One of the restaurants main features it feels like.
Perhaps I'll try it again sometime.
This was an absolute let down. We had such high expectations for this place and it turned out bad. The food was good for the most part but extremely salty. The quantities were also very small and extremely overpriced. I will never go back there again especially for the fact that it was so freaking hot all night long and the refusal from management to bring the AC down in the middle of July in Florida. This was unacceptable .
I made a reservation on Open Table for 2 at 8pm. We got there at 7:55 pm and were told to wait outside by the busy street in two chairs. We waited until 8:15 pm then I went inside to see what was happening. The host did not even remember me and asked if I had a reservation. I told him I had an 8:00 reservation and that he told me to wait outside. He then said it would be another 30 minutes. This was absolutely ridiculous so we left and walked right into PF Chang's and had a lovely meal. I will never ever make reservations or eat at this restaurant in the future. Heed the warning diners!
How do I put it... A lot went wrong! My party of 4 arrived promptly at 8:00 for our reservation. The host had a look of terror on his face as he asked if we would wait "just a sec". Upon his return, he asked if we minded sitting at the bar for a moment while they got our table ready. No problem, we ordered wine.
Meanwhile, in this restaurant of only about 8 tables, there were 3, 2-person tables available right next to each other. I assumed they'd push 2 together. Nope.
At 8:30, another couple arrived and were seated at one of the remaining tables. We asked the manager why they got seated, while we were still waiting. He told us they had an 8:30 reservation and so does another couple. And that our table had been given away to a party of 4 who arrived moments before us. Ok, so 2 tables left- let's push them together! Nope. The other couple arrived.
We were getting hungry so we ordered appetizers at the bar. It was a few minutes later (around 8:45) that the manager said he'd pick up our bar tab and it should only be a short while longer. Ok. We waited.
We finally sat at 9:00 for our 8:00 reservation. Our server was very friendly and apologetic about our wait. I'll admit, the food was diverse and tasty. But, my friends were already irritated for having to wait so ling that we didn't enjoy ourselves.
Then came time for the bill. Huge screw-up #2. The total was around $160, so we decided to split it down the middle. The waiter used "square" to charge each of our cards and we hit the 20% button. THEN looked at the amount. Whoops! We were each charged an extra $62! Apparently our waiter "thought" our bill was $260 and split it in half. He did refund us each right away, but again, by then we were just super annoyed and frustrated with what should have been a great dinner with friends.
I have been her at least 25 times but not in the last 9 months. Since so many better places then Scratch have opened but were a block away so why not. Everything we wanted to order we were told that they were out of. Then the staff told us about all the problems that were going on with the old owner coming back to Scratch after screwing over the first three owners. That things were rough and they were sorry. We felt so bad for the staff we bought them a round of drinks. Our meal was oily and just down right gross. Like dinner food that has been sitting out on the counter for days! Skip it!!!!
Several menu items not avail that eve supposedly due to late supply delivery. Obvious team stress in the open/exposed kitchen area. Inconsistent and, in one case, inexcusable gaps between delivery times. 3 of 4 dishes were very pedestrian. The one exceptional dish did not not compensate for the mediocrity of the others! Nice interior. Great location. The potential is there, but they need to get their act together.
