Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was good. My only complaint was the noise level. The jazz band playing was too loud to have a conversation and then there was a large group at the table next to us that also very loud. Next time I’ll ask to be seated in the other room.
Excellent food and service - obvious attention to detail in both the food and service. We'll be back for sure!
We had brunch here. The food was delicious, and the menu had an interesting variety to choose from. The gravlax was cured well. My husband enjoyed the Devonshire very much. Looking forward to coming back!
This was the best meal we’ve had in quite a while. We will be back!
Fantastic food and service. We couldn’t pick a favorite dish. The mushrooms, risotto, and lamb Ravi were all to die for.
This place is amazing. The food, the service, the drinks - absolutely phenomenal. The owner made a point to great us both times I dined there. He's very cool and down to earth and seems determined to provide the best experience possible. The staff is also extremely knowledgeable and excited to answer any questions you may have -- or in my case, describe in great detail the culinary adventure I'm about to go on. Definitely a foodie's dream.
Service is impeccable and the food is always amazing. This place never disappoints!!
Great food, great service, very relaxing environment! Lived it!
Everything was fantastic! Our meals were portioned perfectly and the quahog the food was amazing. There is nothing negative to say about our dinner. We will definitely be going back.
Food was fantastic. Extremely thoughtful and attentive staff also.
Another fantastic dining experience at Scratch! We brought some friends and they were very impressed. Will return soon!
One of our favorite spots. Innovative cocktails, great food, attentive staff.
We tried Scratch Food and Beverage on Friday. The major reason we chose it was because of all of the gluten free options. Typically restaurants have grilled/baked chicken or a steak, but not here. We decided on salt cod deviled eggs, falafel, and gravlax for apps and beef bourguignon for the main!!! Because the apps were so filling, we split the main. They gave us individual portions. Although it was enough food, once I tasted it, I wished we hadn't split! This is a must try!! Every dish was better than the last. I cannot wait until summer to try it out when the doors and windows open. :).
Second time there and it was excellent! Boeuf bourguignon was so tender and flavorful.
The food is amazing, what more do you need to know
Sunday Brunch. Really great options. I don’t eat eggs and still had many menu items to choose from. They don’t subscribe to the increasingly tired hack of “just put an egg on top of the dish” and call it brunch. Will definitely go back soon.
The food is AMAZINGGGGGG!! The culinary team is five plus stars all around!! The service was team service, so we really didn’t know who our server was, but they were friendly and helpful.
Friendly service from the moment we walked through the door. Greeted and seated right away.
Menu is very well done. Our server knew menu well and answered our questions easily.
After finishing our 3 starters to share, salads came out before starters were removed, rather than remove plates from the table, the 2 (new) bus boys placed salad course on the table.
Moments later they returned to pick up starter plates. That’s it, other than that nice place and we will go back for sure.
nice lil neighborhood gem . great food and service . good drinks , vermouth flight ,infused tea . limited happy hour offerings . on street parking . close to down town , Penn brewery , wiggle whiskey north side location . quaint dining room .
Everyone working there was polite and helpful.
The food and the ambiance were truly outstanding and interesting. The service the evening we were there was a wreck. There were several instances of mixed up food arriving at our table as well as a very significant error (> 40 $) on the bill which was only corrected after we caught it and brought it to the server's attention. A different waiter actually brought us a second round of deserts after we had paid the bill and tried to convince us we had ordered them! . We'd try this place again as the food was delicious, but the back end services are in need of real organization.
Loved the food, service, and menu options. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Our meals were delicious. My only suggestion would be to include cocktail descriptions on the drink menu.
Great overall experience! Good cocktails and the meal was one of the best I have had in Pittsburgh. Definitely give it a try.
Band was great! The lamb ragu was excellent!
I think my group would’ve drank more
If the staff would’ve come over more often :)
Great brunch! Fabulous server
I can not rave about our experience enough! The food, service and decor were all phenomenal. The brunch was indescribable but my son ate most of my corned beef hash and the beignets were perfect pillows of deliciousness. We will be back!
The Frisée salad is absolutely scrumptious. It is a must. The chocolate cake was also super rich and delicious. Also a must eat.
Enjoyed ourselves and will be dining there again
Our family dinner for 6 was excellent overall. The food and service were great in all respects. We definitely will return.
I’ve been here a few times. Always sit at the bar. Great cocktails and good service. Bar snacks and food from the regular menu are really delicious! Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed Scratch. Great good & service! Gnocchi was great!
We liked Scratch. Party of 4. First visit. We were juggling the time of our reservation and the restaurant called us three times to make sure of our arrival time within a 15 minute window. So I felt like they were really running the front of house very well.
I had the Restaurant Week menu - a chicken stock based soup, beef tartare and a boar pasta with a banana bread dessert. Could they substitute anything for the beef tartare? No. So we eliminated that course. Soup was very good. Simple and well made. Boar pasta bolognese, very good. Many small chunks of boar meat in a tomato sauce. No Parmesan. There was a chunk of the pasta melded together, I just set it to the side. Banana bread disappointing, dry and over baked Whipped cream on the side. My husband had the gravlax appetizer, trout main course. He thought the gravlax was very good, the trout fair. Drinks fine, no iced tea. The best decaf coffee I have ever had. The room is attractive, an interesting crowd; you feel like you are in a competently run place. Pricey but they are trying to be very high quality. Interesting enough to go again. We all felt that way.
We went on a cold evening were seated next to the very drafty window. What was especially weird was that there was only one other couple in the whole restaurant and we were seated side by side. We asked to move because of the cold. The curtains around the door at the entry are weird and do not serve to cut down on the cold air every time someone enters. We were happy with the entrees, but will not return due to the general ambiance. This was our second time there.
It's restaurant week and they nailed it!
Went for restaurant week -- the drinks and the food were stellar. Can't wait to go back and try normal menu items!
Very nice dinner. Went during Restaurant week. Scratch featured one tasting. The steak tartare was the standout. You must try it! Also loved my cocktail. The wild boar pappardelle was good. I cannot wait to return.
Excellent experience in all redpects. Will return
We have already scheduled our next reservation. Interesting & delicious menu selections.
Great service. Excellent cocktails. Very accommodating.
Food and service were excellent as usual. The place was a bit loud and crowded - we had to wait a good bit for a table (even though we had a reservation and it was later in the evening).
I have been here previously. This time We had some issue with the reservation but the owner was very apologetic and solved the issue very promptly. He also provided appropriate compensation for the situation! A few of the meals were sold out but regardless my meal was delicious! Chocolate cake was wonderful with the perfect pinch of sea salt. I highly Recommend Scratch!
