We love Scratch. Consistently a favorite dinner spot for us. Casual inviting ambience, upscale inventive menus. We love this restaurant and will be back as much as possible.
Terrific vibe! The duck confit was out of this world. Honestly, like we were back in France. The rock playlist was pretty awesome too.
Food and drinks were fantastic!! Server seemed to be the server, bartender and had to run back inside and outside.
Delicious dinner and loved the ambiance.
Awesome food. Awesome service. Great cause. tips go to charity. Great date night vibes. Grab some dinner here of you can
We absolutely love this place! Exceptional service, cool atmosphere, and FANTASTIC cuisine. A true Pittsburgh gem!
Very nice place. Corner restaurant. Service could have made the experience better. Staff was friendly. Food was very good. Great Vegan options and cool relaxed atmosphere.
Great restaurant. Reasonable prices and a great atmosphere.
What a wonderful little place we stumbled upon met one of the owners while we were there wonderful convo on why they are working on for the future with sustainable goods they will sell in house that they use for their food also and everything is locally sourced I think it’s wonderful for the community and love their enthusiasm towards it. Best of luck guys. As far as the food it was hoagie night and it was to die for was prime rib and brined turkey and a pasta salad that was out of this world so delicious and I recommend the old fashioned it was perfect. Cheers
Delicious food, great service. Wonderful neighborhood vibe.
Scratch is a Pittsburgh treasure. It's an easy drive up the hill from the North Side to Mt. Troy, and the food is always healthy, unique and cooked to perfection. Local meat and always good selection of interesting, main dish vegetarian options. Also a great selection of specialty liquor and liquors (like Amaro). Awesome place.
We’ve been to this restaurant many times and have loved the food. Apparently there is a new chef and we are very underwhelmed. Unfortunately I don’t think this restaurant will stay on our go to list. :(.
The service, atmosphere, and drinks were great. The food menu, though, was very limited and the entrees a bit lacking, in our opinion. Just be sure to check the menu before you go.
Just loved the way Scratch has pivoted for Covid. We felt so safe, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left - all the necessary precautions were taken and then some.
Ordered a perfectly paired bottle of wine for the beet grain bowls, had a side of fries, then a fall cocktail to round it off. Menu is curated, and each item is absolutely delicious! 10/10 would recommend. And as if their food and drink weren’t enough, they donate to a food bank in lieu of tips! Such a gem in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill.
The new menu is disjointed such as salads not complementing entree options. And the food isn't really a known style. My cannelloni tasted neither sweet not savory and the mushroom bechamel was thick. Fairly disappointed with this new experience compared to past visits. I won't go back.
Always great food and dining experience. Doing a great job working through the Covid-imposed restrictions too.
I enjoyed sitting outside in the neighborhood. It was active, but not noisy. My cannelloni was really good as was the veggie bowl shared with my wife. the portugese potatoe and kale stew was fair, bland small and pureed
Our experience was not good. Truth be told, not all was the fault of Scratch. There was a car alarm, the continued to sound during our meal. A PAT bus decided to do a U-Turn while were eating (cause terrible smells and sounds).
What Scratch could control ... I felt that their menu had "bait-and-switch" pricing on their wine list. We wanted to order a bottle of wine and were then told that the price on the menu was not the price. We needed to add 20.00 to each bottle for "corkage fee". Now, I've heard of a corkage fee at BYOB establishment to cover the cost of being able to use their glasses and settings. However, we were purchasing the bottle from Scratch. It changed the price of a La Marca Prosecco to almost 45.00. That was insanely expensive.
The food was just okay. Just an overall flop of an experience. I will not go back.
Fantastic night. Can’t wait to go back. Staff made us feel very safe
Great, safe outdoor dining
Service could have been better.
Really felt the waiters did not care much if we were there or not.
Food was good.
Awesome concept with people who are dedicated to keeping people safe during COVID, providing high quality food, creating sustainable processes and giving back to the community. Excellent as always.
Pleasant experience in spite of CoVid restrictions. Food was great!
I had been to Scratch 2 years ago and loved it so was looking forward to taking a friend from out of town there. Nothing was the same. NOTHING. I knew/understood we’d be eating outside due to covid. But the menu had dramatically changed into more of a deli vs farm-to-table healthy restaurant that I fondly remembered it to be.
I had a hard time choosing. Because nothing sounded that appetizing. It’s more of a takeout menu vs restaurant anymore.
I wish they had changed there name when they changed everything else about their business. So disappointing.
Great staff, food and drinks! Really doing well with masks, Covid etc Love Scratch!
Food was delicious, enjoyed the atmosphere, will be going back!
Scratch creatively adapted to the current environmental controls and with the city's cooperation, secured access to a blocked-off street to create an outdoor dining facility. I imagine it is ideal as the sun is setting, for much of the street is exposed to sunlight and I did not see any sun umbrellas. We benefited from one of the few tables deep in the shade of the restaurant building.
This our first visit. They have adjusted their menu a bit due to COVID. All of our food was excellent. We really enjoyed the vibe and service.
Fermented veggies were very good! Fries were heavily salted but great flavor and nice thick “potato patch” style of a cut. I had the pulled pork and wasn’t crazy about the sauces or pork, it lacked flavor. My brother had the burger and I stole a small piece and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Service was good, a little slow to take our order and slow to give us our check considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. I also serve so I’m a bit picky on service. Also told him I didn’t like the pork and he had no response., I only had 2 bites. He didn’t offer anything else, didn’t offer a discount or removal from the bill.
Our first time in this restaurant. Very slow service due to current covid situation, perhaps. Food was great and our server was attentive. But, not sure if one hour wait for our food (ordered mostly sandwiches) to get to our table is worth the second visit.
Different menu, same great food and drinks.
We had an excellent meal and experience. The menu was fairly eclectic (bacala deviled eggs, etc.) and the food excellent. Our waiter was taking care of a number of tables and was attentive to all. In short, I would recommend it highly.
Wonderful brunch! When my dining companion tasted the Japanese pancakes I ordered, he said "every tastebud is exploding with delight". Funny, but true!
We really liked our first visit to Scratch. The cocktail selection was nice and the food was great. My only complaint was that we sat in a relatively empty dining room at what I assume was a table they got for free somewhere that wasn't steady and small while there were other 4 tops close by that were much larger and nicer. I would think first-come, first-serve for nice seating, but that's just me. The staff came over and stuck something underneath to keep it from wobbling, so I'm grateful for that.
Always a great place to bring friends. great cocktails and interesting menu items.
Incredible, as always! Went for my partner’s birthday, and we had an amazing time. Shared some wild boar chili with grilled cornbread, lamb ragu (insanely, insanely good), and duck confit. Delicious and exciting food, interesting drinks and excellent service. Prices are reflective of quality (locally sourced) ingredients and perfect portions. Can’t recommend enough!
Hidden gem- will return!
Everything was great. We'll be going back again and again.
There was great music and the food/drinks were incredible. Everything is high quality including the staff!
