We strive to strike that elusive balance of comfort and creativity in a space that is designed to set you at ease, whether you are here to dine, shop, or take in some Pittsburgh-based art.
For Tea Service from 2-5, the table is yours until only 5 pm. Any reservations made for 4:30 will have the table until 5:30. We are excited to bring a tea service to our restaurant to accommodate people during the day.
We have recently made renovations to our dining space. If you are unable to make a reservation, please call and we will do our best to accommodate you.
We appreciate the support of our outdoor dining services this past year. Currently, there are no plans to have regular outdoor dining service. We look forward to seeing you when we have special events, including live music, this summer.
The food is absolutely delicious and the service is friendly and warm. This is definitely a foodie restaurant.
We always enjoy our time at Scratch and were happy to return after a long absence with Covid. The new set up is very nice with hosting artwork of various different artists. The menu items were fantastic as usual. We miss the the king trumpet mushroom dish though. We had the GF fried chicken which was delicious! Would love to see some GF desserts on the menu as well. We will be back again!
Scratch is one of our favorite restaurants. There are no routine dishes on the menu, all are truly a treat. Specialty drinks are too!
We had an awesome night out and are so grateful to the whole staff for their knowledge, attentiveness and good humor. The varied menu assured that everyone in our party had something that was delicious. The cocktail menu is super special - creative and delicious! Thanks!
We've been to Scratch several times before but this time was not up to par.
The menu has been pared way down (maybe due to Covid)....but there were maybe 4-5 choices for dinner 1 burger, 1 chicken, 1 Veggie, 1 Pasta and maybe one other. The noise level (music) made it hard to converse even though we were seated in a booth with high sides.
The food was fine - but in the past it was really stellar - Overall I was disappointed
Always a wonderful experience at Scratch. First time in month's we've been there and several interior changes in decor were nice as well. Brought along 4 first-timers to dinner and all raved about the quality of food, drink, and service.
The combination of flavors and quality of food was outstanding! We ordered the gf fried chicken and pork loin … both were delicious! We also enjoyed shopping in the area where Scratch is marketing their own products. The apple butter and blueberry lemon jam was excellent. It would be nice to have a “low or reduced” sugar option.
Sunday Jazz Brunch was awesome! Great food and music.
What a special dinner and 5 star treatment in celebration of our anniversary with a complimentary champagne toast to boot. Extraordinary service and warmth, what a gem of a place. Highly recommend!
Love this place. Fresh ingredients, wonderful flavors, awesome service! Looking forward to our next visit.
Love this restaurant. It’s for a serious foody. Fabulous dishes both big and small. Service is friendly and top notch. And, even though I’ve only been there three times so far, I already feel like family there.
We had such a great night at Scratch and Co. for our anniversary! Their cocktails and wine selection were both great, and we loved our entrees, especially the cacio e pepe. My only regret is not getting an appetizer or two, having gone for the cheese plate instead (which was delicious) — guess we’ll have to go back! Don’t miss the apple pie pierogis while they’re there, absolutely worth the trip for those alone. Thanks again Scratch and Co!
The menu was too limited. No fish option. Vegetarian options were basically appetizers. Service was good and experience was fun, but would’ve liked more options.
The restaurant is loud. Overall the food is excellent. My husband said that he would have liked some type of sauce on his steak but that was the only complaint out of the six of us. Service was slow but only because it seemed like there wasn’t enough staff. The staff seemed to really be hustling. I would definitely go back.
Meal was amazing! Really appreciated that all of their food is locally sourced. Also staff are all full-time with benefits which is a great model. We will definitely be going back!
This is a MUST TRY!!! The service is amazing! The food is amazing!
The food was average at best. the chicken has fried batter that was cooked enough . The beans were cold and overcooked. The drinks were very small and expensive I will never returned
Outrageously delicious meal and service!!
Great deli case full of cheeses, cured meats, figs, dates, veggies, jams, chocolates and much more.
It wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible. The lower score is because we could not figure out how this place had such high ratings. Everything about it was pretty average and the food wasn’t anything special either. The staff was friendly but extremely Covid scared still and the entire experience was incredibly underwhelming. I’m shocked this place has made any “must try” lists in Pittsburgh. Especially given the incredible quality of other restaurants - this one just did not stack up. I’m sorry to admit. Our assumption was it’s just one of the only decent spots in Troy Hill which was the only thing we could think of for why it’s been on so many lists. Again, so sorry to be leaving an underwhelmed review. We actually ended up cutting the dinner short to go to another restaurant :/
I really loved it here - the ambience was everything! Surprised it’s not coming up on more pittsburgh best of lists tbh.
It was our first time since the Pandemic and there were a number of changes. New high backed wooden booths were added to the room with the bar. They offered desirable separation, but are painfully uncomfortable with no cushion. All menu items are gluten free. That’s great if needed but otherwise a compromise to flavor. Admittedly, I’m fortunate to regularly drink good wine. The wines by the glass were awful (we tried 5). Our hummus started (beets with lentils) was tasty served with sliced apple and tasteless GF bread. Not wanting a GF entree, I had steak. It was a small portion but tasty. My husband ordered the specialty cheeseburger. Once again, the flavors were a good combination but the over cooked meat killed it. On a positive note, our server was terrific. We are sad not to have had a better experience.
Scratch remains my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. The food is just so darn good. Everything I order, every single time. They have creative solutions to keeping everyone safe during a pandemic. And everyone that works there is super fun and seems to genuinely enjoy working there. Neighborhood gem!
Had not been to Scratch in a while and now will return more often. Food as well as service was outstanding. The
restaurant new look is also very cool. Highly recommend a visit to Scratch.
Dinner at Scratch is always a great experience! The food, service, and space create a feeling that’s hard to replicate.
Scratch was awesome! We we greeted pleasantly at the door and led back to a really cool table in the back that was a nice distance from other diners. We were told about this little statue that you were to put at the end of the table if you needed something. This was such a great idea! The food was so so so good! I’m gluten free and have never gotten to eat fried chicken in a restaurant until now. It was amazing! The cocktails were also really different a d yummy! We will be back!
It was a great atmosphere, food and service. First time there and definitely will be going back!
Awesome as always!
Friendly, unassuming service. Great quality food.
This place is the best!!!
Everything was delicious !
This restaurant was awesome! I loved the ambience and the food was delicious. Plus, the staff was friendly and attentive.
Great food and atmosphere! Would 10/10 recommend. They had something for everyone on the menu.
Love everything about Scratch. We ordered four of the plates and split everything within our group of 4. It was all delicious! Can’t say enough good things about the quality of the food and excellent service. This place is a must try if you haven’t been there.
We were there for Sunday brunch. The live jazz music was an unexpected treat!
Excellent find in Troy Hill. Great food - you would never know some of the meals are gluten free. Great fried chicken and mac n cheese!
Food arguably the best in Pittsburgh. Progressive organization that pays its workers a salary, benefits and profit-sharing instead of minimum wage plus tips. Uses progressive and creative ideas to keep customers safe from Covid exposure.
It was all great
Great food, super fresh ingredients, wonderful service!
Great scratch kitchen. Fresh ingredients with awesome gluten free and vegan options. Great staff to serve you. All tips go to charity’s because they pay a living wage to staff. Don’t miss this place!
