Service was spectacular! This place is amazing. Food is to die for. Honestly you need to come and experience this dining ASAP
Scratch is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. Everything comes together beautifully every time. Good for any occasion as well.
We enjoyed Scratch and would go back. We were warmly greeted. Josh, our server, was good but they were busy and he was tasked with making drinks, as well as serving, which explains our rating. He was nice and took care of us, but we waited approximately 15 minutes between finishing our meal and ordering dessert.
The food was good, the drinks were good. The Lardo was very good! We had been wanting to go to Scratch for a while and we’re glad we did.
Very good and interesting food. Realized it was heavy on garlic which proved problematic later and needs to be mentioned. Good service. Whipped Lardo toast not good but pate fab.
Took my wife to Scratch on Mother's Day not knowing that only a brunch menu was offered. The food was good, but need to go back for dinner to really see if the food is as good as advertised.
Scratch is another perfect example of why Pittsburgh is the best place to live. Unique, thoughtful, and delicious restaurants like Scratch help make it that way. Cheers!
Greeted by the owner, which has happened every time we eat here. Atmosphere great. Service great. Food great. One of our favorite restaurants in the city. Might be the favorite!
Eclectic, lighter fare menu - so this place isn’t for everyone, i.e. the most “standard” main dish was a lamb ragu pasta (delicious though!). We didn’t really like the specialty drinks, although the wine list is pretty great. Overall we would go back, but not if we were craving anything hearty.
Brought 5 first-time diners with us and all raved and thoroughly enjoyed even though they aren't the most adventurous diners. They trusted my wife and I to try anything and they weren't disappointed.
We really enjoyed our first time there, and will return. Charming unpretenious atmosphere. It was a little loud due to bar happenings, but we were impressed by the manager's sensitivity. He came to the table to appologize when he really didn't have to! The food was excellent, and the menu inventive.
Excellent Food and service. Well priced and interesting menu.
A pleasant surprise! We had a great meal-the lamb Ragu was fabulous! And the service was wonderful. The casual, relaxed atmosphere was welcoming!
Been to Scratch about half a dozen times. Great food, friendly service and fun atmosphere. Would recommend this place to everyone looking for something a little off the beaten path . Enjoy!
Very nice experience. We needed a table for 10 and they were able to take care of us on a very busy Pittsburgh Marathon weekend.
Arrived at the bar to meet other couples , ordered drinks . Felt rushed to our table - because it was ready .
Ordered appetizers , hadn’t received those and the server was asking for our meal order .
Ate our dinner and then we had 1 menu for 6 to decide on drinks and dessert . We did ask for more menus so we could look faster .
The entire service was just OFF . Food was delicious small portions
The food was excellent, starting with sharing the pickled vegetables and cheese plate, moving on to the Lardo Toast. The large plates were excellent as well, I had the Pasta Citronette. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails on top of that. Our service was excellent, and the eclectic table set up with mix-matched chairs gave it all a very comfortable vibe. Definitely worth the ride up Pig Hill.
Friendly staff, delicious food, and live jazz!
This was the first time my wife and I have eaten here. If you’re looking for a friendly atmosphere with good food, try Scratch. The brunch was l.e.g.i.t.
Love love love this place !!! Second time —second great meal. Great staff, very attentive.
Nice restaurant in Troy Hill... Beef Bourguignon was to die for... I wanted to lick the bowl!
Atmosphere lively/ wait staff superb
Would recommend this restaurant
My girlfriend had the Trout and it was done to perfection. I had the chicken dish. The beeast was moust and taste. Had an excellent meal.
Warm friendly ambiance.... the owner greets everyone at the door and seems to be on top of all the details that make a great dining experience. We loved the variety of small plates.... all fresh ingredients and interesting combinations of spices. Many vegetarian options.
The cocktails were very good too.
Our family of four got together the night before my son’s college graduation. We had a really delicious meal and excellent experience for a moderate price. We shared several appetizers, and every one was terrific! My boys really loved the duck pastrami appetizer. The graduate raved about the lamb ragu and pasta. His brother said his pot loin was one of the best he ever had. I loved my trumpet mushroom entree. I highly recommend this place!
Knowledgeable and welcoming staff.
A neighborhood gem.
Great food. Fantastic ambiance.
Food service and atmosphere were great. Portions were small
Best brunch in the city. Food was excellent all around. Unique and creative without being pretentious. Prices were very reasonable.
Great food. Good service. The drinks were creative and tasted great. Lots of variety in menu options for small plates. Entrees were perfect
We had a wonderful time - we hope to return soon!
great food, great service. i would recommend anyone to come eat at scratch
Great place. Made for a great girls dinner spot. And the food and cocktails we're delicious!
Tried for first time. 4 of us loved our food, especially the vegetarian options. Desserts were awesome too, perfect creme brûlée. Love that they use metal straws in their drinks. Will definitely return
Love the vegetarian options. The Prix fixe menu was outstanding. Unique drinks and good wine list. Great place for foodies/ aficionados of food in particular vegetarian options, albeit also with very good options for meat lovers
We enjoyed our meal very much. The portions were reasonable and we had room for dessert which was also delicious.
I learned about Scratch from a review in our local news paper. My husband and i decided to try it and were not disappointed. Great cocktails, starts, small dishes and entrees. Service was attentive. Dessert was also a tasty treat! We will be back.
Very small portions great food
We sat at the bar for dinner, the bartender was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. He was also knowledgeable about the menu which was great. We ordered several small plates and everything was phenomenal. We will definitely be back.
Scratch was a GREAT discovery! Loved the quaint little neighborhood of Troy Hill and especially loved the space and interior of Scratch. Fabulous menu with Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free options -- that's something not so common in Pittsburgh. Thank you for the interesting menu choices and for considering personal dietary needs and concerns. Such a fun atmosphere, drink menu and decor. The service was top notch -- friendly and not pretentious, and the food was FAB!! I will go back -- even took a menu and have shared it with fam and friends already.
We were there on a weeknight, the place was less than half full; our party of four had reservations. The hostess did this weird thing of giving us the worst table, alone in the bar next to a drafty door, and then gave us like the next worst table when we asked to move. Each one is different, part of the eclectic, and appealing, decor. The few best looking tables were unoccupied by anyone the entire night. Not sure of the logic; maybe they were hoping for some more glamorous drop-ins.
That being said, the service was pretty good, and the food was really outstanding. Lots of labeled vegan and gluten free options.
Would def go again.
My third time visiting Scratch, my mother's first. An excellent experience all around & we can't wait to return! Their food is simply top notch--fresh, simple, deliciously seasoned, inventive but not fussy, locally sourced. So good. And the servers are knowledgeable & friendly, not pretentious, & they make great recommendations & take very good care of you. Also love the whimsical decor (navy painted walls, different salt/pepper shakers on each table etc.). Finally, they made an error & put another table's corkage fee on our bill. We did not notice when paying. They caught the error themselves, called us after we got home to tell us about it & apologize, and immediately refunded the corkage fee. This integrity just made me love Scratch more than I already did!
