Was surprisingly great. Slightly outside of Waikiki this place was amazing
The vibe is industrial chic. Woods, metal, cement. Very creative menu and great presentation. Food was cooked as described. Issue is it's all kind of bland. No flavors popped or left lingering. Seven white wines. Of course they don't bother to tell you what they don't have until you have studied and go to place your order. Worst issue, was many, many open tables, they seat a family with two young children right next to me. Parents let kids play with electronic gadgets, making noise, etc. I commented to the staff but they did nothing.
This place has awesome barbacoa!! Had the calentado and appetizer tacos with Barbacoa and was beyond satisfied. Excellent flavors and awesome service from our server Shay! Owner John was also super cool in welcoming us as it was our first time dining here! Look forward to many more visits!
Friendly service, chill atmosphere with delicious food!
Started the dinner off with a apple bacon old fashion. The bacon paired well with the whiskey. In my opinion, the drink was missing aroma bitter and simple syrup.
I dove right in on the bone marrow and escargot dish. Bone Marrow was light and not as rich as others I've tried. The escargot was cooked in its traditional butter garlic sauce. The dish was perfectly paired with the lightly toasted baguette.
I also wanted to try their street taco, I ordered it with steak for $2 more. Nothing special here. I will note that the steak was tender. If I had to guess they used a tri-tip for the steak.
Main Dish: Creole style shrimp and grits. Shrimp was very tender and not over cooked. Dish comes with sausage and 2 eggs made to order. Dish was very tasty. I added the escargot dripping to see if it made a difference, It did. Adding the escargot dripping made the dish a lot more creamy.
I definitely recommend this to anyone who hasn't tried this place.
I myself, will be back for more!
They have really great flavors and a variety of dishes. We had great dinner service and the pork chop pasta was excellent.
It was the first time for my friends. Ambiance: the music was pumping and I felt it should be more of a background sound that contributed to the ambiance of the dining experience. The choice of music was fine but it was the volume
that could have been a tad lower. I did not say anything.
The service was a tad spotty at the outset. We assumed that our server was new…
He did not know his menu. When my guest ordered a glass of wine he had no knowledge of it and we had to show it to him on our menu. My other guest wanted a gin and tonic and he said it was not available because they had not received their tonic water delivery. We were sitting next to the bar so I turned around and asked the gentleman there if they did have tonic water… apparently they had received their delivery. As a part of guest service the server should gone to the bar and asked. Finally when we received our entree, my guest did not receive what he had ordered. He had ordered the pork chop pasta but received pork belly pasta in error. Not to take away from the server team. They stepped up to support the new hire. They were all gracious
The food was fantastic. We ordered popcorn chicken and beef tacos as appetizers. For entrees we order the pork chop pasta and the BBQ ribs. Portions were substantial and very tasty. For dessert we used the coupons that are available in the Oahu’s Best Coupon Book. Each coupon afforded the purchaser a free French toast after 3 pm when each order was over $20.00. It was beautifully presented with fresh fruit and whipped cream and maple syrup and we loved it.
We would return again
This place never disappoints and I will always keep coming back!
pretty good. a little pricey. didnt order the french toast but it looked awesome
Our reservations was at 3:00pm. They took about 15-20 minutes before they took our order and another half hour before I got my food. They said they were having technical difficulties but no one came out to tell us. Otherwise, food was alright.
This restaurant was unique & very surprising. The wait staff worked together as a team & the cooks looked like they were having a great time preparing the meals in the open kitchen.
Our meals were a collection of horde overs & entrees that may not have sounded like they paired together but they were all tasty & unique foods & presentations. We were very impressed & will be back when in town.
Great food and good service. Really nice staff.
Food was delicious and our server was fantastic. We had one member in our party that needed to have a customized meal off menu and we were well accommodated.
Food and service was great! Would definitely recommend.
Food was great! Everything we had was delicious! Get the smashed potatoes!
These dishes are not for the faint-hearted. We came with small appetites, so that was definitely a wrong move on our part, but despite being on the heavier side, I was pretty satisfied with our meal. We ordered the COUNTRY GRAVY FRIED CHICKEN BISCUIT and the CREOLE SHRIMP N' SAUSAGE GRITS, both delicious. Portions are a decent size but when I say heavy, I mean both dishes were chocked full of (yummy) fats. It sort of even smells of lard (in a good but slightly overwhelming way) when you walk through the door. Overall, the next time I'm super hungry and looking for a very filling and fancy home-styled meal, I will return.
Only bummer thing to note is, when my friend asked our server what white hominy was, our server told us it was a sauce they pour on the grits :( not too sure if she meant to explain the white hominy is made into a sauce? but I was too shame to correct her, definitely found that odd.
I am always glad to have a nice sit down brunch with a friend at Scratch! The mushroom polenta is delicious though it was supposed to have 2 poached eggs…my friend and I each only got one. We didn’t really care but still…the wait staff is always pleasant and efficient. Glad to make it my go-to place when I want to plan to see a friend.
We wanted to go somewhere that was kind of a local spot. Read the reviews snd made a reservation and they did not disappoint. Staff great too. Strongly recommend!!
Had a very nice time with great food and atmosphere.
Love this place, food was great!
Food was good but I had very high expectations going in, so I can’t say it was amazing. The staff was amazing, and we received really good service. Cocktails were really good.
Came for dinner on a Tuesday night, and it wasn’t busy at all. Overall, food was delicious! My favorite was the Brussel Sprouts. The atmosphere was a little too loud, my throat was starting to hurt at the end of the night…from all the loud talking. The waitresses were nice, but they rarely checked on us and we never got any refills of water. I wish service was a little better, but I’d still definitely come back for the food.
This place was as good as the previous reviews. Everything was delicious! We'll definitely go back.
Delicious meal for the whole family. Super friendly and attentive service.
From the moment we walked in the door the staff wasn’t very friendly. We asked a question & were met with rude remarks. That was off putting. We sat down & ordered drinks (we ordered the bacon old fashioned & a gin and lemon cocktail.) Wasn’t overly amazing but I imagine they aren’t known for cocktails. We both ordered the shrimp & grits entree… which I really wanted to love but the shrimp was so over cooked. Overall it was just okay. Won’t dine there again.
First we had to wait about 10 minutes to have the hostess greet us as she completely disappeared after seating the party in front of us. One of our appetizers got delivered to the wrong table so the delivery of the food was off.
The place doesn’t have a soft surface and they play the music at a load level. Combined with an open kitchen don’t expect to have any conversation at the place.
Food was good but I was turned off having to peel the shrimp in the shrimp and grits. Probably a much better place for breakfast or lunch but not for dinner
Our server was very helpful in deciding what to order.
Live musoc, great food, great service! It's always a pleasure to come to Scratch.
Scratch has managed to keep things going in spite of Covid. Nicely done, still good food.
First time here, prices were good, selection of both cocktails and food was great! I had the porkchop and pasta, which was fabulous, my husband had one if the specials. We both enjoyed our meal.
Our reservation was not honored as our seat was given up to a walk in. The staff was kind throughout the process which was nice.
The food was simply not good. Our popcorn chicken had pieces that were not edible and quite gamy. The batter was subpar and the only good sauce was the aioli. We then got baked Mac and cheese which was also disappointing. There was absolutely no flavor and needed a heavy dose of salt. We finally finished with the fish and chips special. The batter kept falling off and the coating did not encompass the entire fish, there was missing batter. The way the fish was plated was that you couldn’t see the missing batter on the bottom. The flavor of the fish was good though. The side of potatoes was also good.
The best part of our experience was the lemonade we both got.
Smashed potatoes were great. Downhill from there
Great place to relax on a Friday. Food was delicious. Recommend booking a table ahead of time if you want to be seated.
It was simple to show our vaccination card and we were seated quickly. The food and service were just as good as I remember pre-pandemic.
Great food great service great atmosphere
Fun menu with plenty of options for everyone. Great service.
Top notch service as always
Service exceptional and the atmosphere was up beat and fun. Food was delish! Went for brunch and had mimosas, chilaquiles, and my husband and a burger. Portions were generous.
Fried kale was oily
Received bill by one waiter
Waitress asked if we wanted dessert
