Scout Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation for my family online on your website in no time. Super quick and easy. The number changed overnight which exceeded the number allowed online. I made a call in the morning to add one more person and they said "no problem". Our table was ready when we arrived. Virginia was our server and she was incredible! She always came around to refill water and coffee, every order was perfect, greeted us with a smile and great personality. My family had a wonderful holiday brunch and everyone walked away "fat and happy" as they say. I can't wait to go back. Thanks so much.
Beautiful restaurant space with well-crafted food. The menu has a variety of options from afforadable sandwiches to full-on entrees such as steak. Service is friendly yet professional. It has a very nice bar area, an outdoor patio and comfortable table and booths. It was a pleasant dining experience (except for loud music).
Scout was amazing. We made a reservation and were seated on time. The drinks were delicious and delivered in a timely manner. We started with the jerky which sounds my boyfriend was exceptionally excited about. Hands down the best jerky we've either tasted. My dad and I shared the wedge salad which was equally delicious. Our entrees were the flank steak, pot roast, and the beef stroganoff. Exactly the kind of meal you would want to share with family. We had the banana foster bread pudding for desert which is by far the best thing I have ever tasted. Overall we will be back and are definitely thinking about contacting them to host private events for us in the future. I recommend this place and will be back over and over!
Although our first experience was mixed, we will probably go back. Cauliflower app was delicious, as were soup, salads and fish special. The sides were also good. Burger and chicken parm sandwich were okay.
The hosts were great, but the servers not so much. A big glass of water and ice got dumped on our table by one server. And then the second server spilled a side dish. We were offered a free dessert and profuse apologies, which is why we will give it another try.
There was some confusion on who our server was so for the first 15 minutes, 2 waitresses kept walking past us without even glancing our direction, even though it was a Sunday night so there weren't a lot of people. Honestly, if it wasn't our anniversary we would have walked out. Once we finally got a server, the service was good.
I thought the food was good but my husband said his was only lukewarm. He ordered the short rib stroganoff and I ordered salmon.
Sit on the patio if you can, it's lovely out there! I am hoping they get some heat lamps though!
We went to Scout for my parents fortieth wedding anniversary. We had our reservation and didn't have to wait at all. We saw that there was also a wedding party seated in the restaurant and were a little worried that the restaurant would be overwhelmed, but it didn't impact our service in the least. Our server was great. She answered all of our menu questions, and had a great sense of humor with everyone in our party. We started with a round of craft cocktails. I ordered their version of a Moscow mule, and my wife ordered the whisky smash, both were poured perfectly. For appetizers we chose to start with the breaded cauliflower, and pretzel bites. Everything that came out was fantastic and had beautiful presentation. All of the appetizers looked fantastic, and next time we're trying the muscles and smoked wings.
All of our entries were also top notch. I had the Springer Mountain chicken parm sandwich (and I would certainly do it again!) we also ordered the chuck short rib stroganoff (the pasta was clearly made from scratch, and the meat couldn't have been more tender) the German tray (both of my parents raved about this dish! The German potato salad was spot on), the burger (looked amazing and massive), the perigees (I almost ordered more of these to enjoy later) , and the fresh onion soup (OMG perfection)!
Everyone was super satisfied with their entries, and we did a good job of tasting each other's dishes too. Sharing is caring! We rounded out the meal with a decadent chocolate brownie dessert with vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect two biter to pass around the table. This was our first experience at Scout and all of us agree that the restaurant is a fantastic, much needed addition to the neighborhood! We will certainly be back! The bar alone is enough of a reason to stop in for a cocktail, but it's also nice enough to come and celebrate a special event. There was a wedding there while we dined, and they looked like they also loved the space.
I love this restaurant. The ambiance, food and cocktails are fantastic. It’s my favorite place ‘in the neighborhood’. I live in Avondale Estates, approximately 5 miles away, but would gladly drive further, if need be. This is a great restaurant. I’ve grown up in Atlanta and been to them all...... Scout is just so nice. It reminds me of some of the nicer bistros we had in Atlanta before corporate big bucks consumed our city, of which these are so phony and have such a lack of intimacy. Scout brings me back in time to a much happier experience.
Loved this place today! We were on the patio and the weather was wonderful. It’s completely shaded by trees, in a nice little neighborhood. They weren’t super busy at noon-forty-five when we arrived, but that’s what I aim for when I make reservations. My mimosa was great, BF loved his Bloody Mary! It was delicious, and I don’t even like Bloody Marys. I had the Lump Crab Bowl and BF had “The Western.,” ALL super delicious. There’s a little spot with corn-hole setup, so we played a game of that after brunch. We went on a nice little stroll because the weather was so perfect. Enjoyed very much and will go again!
Great restaurant in wonderful neighborhood!
Had not been to Oakhurst in a while.......
This great neighborhood restaurant was perfect for a casual sunday brunch to see my daughter who was in from Nashville for her birthday!
Unfortuately neither of us could sample their great bar options as starters but the avocado deviled eggs were a nice first course!
Patio is up "in the trees" and not noisy as the indoor music was a little loud and we wanted to "catch up "
Service was friendly and attentive and entrees were good!
Definetly will be back!
And for my Nashville "foodie" it was a good choice!
My wife found a piece of plastic in her food. The server took the dish away, came back and told her it was just an onion skin (it wasn't) and put the same plate of food in front of her! After it was super cold from being carried around and who knows what they did to it. The manager was appropriately appalled but just getting that entree comped without a huge amount of apologies wasn't good enough. Greeter wasn't super friendly and we had to stand around and wait when we had a reservation and the restaurant was 75% empty. Drinks were delicious but super slow. None of us liked our food but luckily only one of us found a foreign object in it. I love the location and the look of the place but I will never return. You're a restaurant - food and service are your number one priorities. I also saw a line cook eat something in the open kitchen when we walked in without washing his hands afterwards. As a long time restaurant manager, chef, and employee of different restaurants this place is off my list forever.
Went to Scout with adult siblings for an unplanned "reunion" brunch due to Irma. Made reservations for 6 and arrived on time at 11:30 AM. Had to wait five minutes to be seated. Service was accommodating but slow. Meals were very good to OK. Greek omelette was just OK and short on promised feta which would have helped it significantly. Crab-poached egg dish was the winner. Hash browns (home fries in my book) with each dish were very good with crunchy exterior and soft interior. The building is very interesting but loud. As the crowd increased during our meal the noise level rose so that hearing the person seated opposite you was difficult.
The wait staff, hostess and bar were not on task at all. Ordered appetizer, dinner and drinks, appetizer came, but no drinks. Dinner came and no drinks - we had to ask for our drinks. Also, wait staff was not attentive and actually kinda rude when we paid our bill. I'll go back but not for awhile - they have some issues to work out.
It took 30 minutes to get our first drink, and an hour for the food which was room temperature for 4 of 5 people. By the time food came, we had no drinks. One person sent their food back because it was too cold to eat. It came back out after everyone else was done. Very disappointing experience.
The staff and food were very good. I read some reviews before I went and while others seemed disappointed, I was not, nor was my family. Presentation and taste were both excellent and their drinks were perfect. I have recommended this place to a lot of my friends since. Expect many more people to come!
Scout is new to the neighborhood and still working out a few kinks. With that said, I still highly recommend dining here. The food is excellent and their specialty cocktails are great! The watermelon drink was very refreshing and not too sweet. We ordered the flash fried oysters for an appetizer and they were delicious. I normally don't like to order fried/breaded food and the oysters were surprisingly delicious. The cast iron red fish was also cooked perfectly. Once they work out some of their kinks (takes a while to bring the specialty made cocktails) this place is going to be on fire! I've been here a few times and am always impressed watching one of the owners seat people, serve customer's drinks and food. That is really nice to see a group working together and pitching in when needed.
Family went for birthday celebration. Service excellent. Mussels, fritters and deviled eggs were very good appetizers. Scallops, trout and beef stougonoff were delicious entrees. Only complaint was the pork tenderloin--too much pepper. No one left an empty plate after the desserts-chocolate cake with ice cream (just the right size no sharing!) and banana foster bread pudding. First meal at restaurant and everyone enjoyed the setting and the food! Will definitely be back.
