Our group wanted to have a brunch to celebrate a friend, who is having a new baby soon. We were able to reserve the curtained private area, which was great for us to have plenty of room for conversation, have a place for a cake and gifts. Our server was very helpful and super nice. We enjoyed the brunch menu, wine, mimosas (for us) and ended up staying much longer than we planned because Scout was so accomodating! I would highly recommend it and look forward to going again.

The food was fantastic! That being said, we wouldn’t recommend the restaurant. The service was extremely slow. The server forgot to put our drink order in and then blamed the bartender and argued with us about it. The manager comp’ed the drinks but we continued to get poor service. It’s too bad because the food was great but Atlanta has too many other places that have excellent food and service.

Food was very good, but it was so loud that we couldn’t hear each other talk.

Scout is in a great location in the burbs of Decatur. The dining area was well set up and comfortable and the noise level was moderate which I’d prefer. The menu is smaller, which to me is always a good sign of quality food. We had the fried cauliflower and avocado deviled eggs which were very good. Our mains were the meatloaf with Mac n cheese and the skirt steak with fries. The meat loaf was a nice blend of meats with a nice gravy and the mac n cheese was spot on. The skirt steak had a very nice Smokey flavor and cooked to a perfect med-rare, it was really tender and the blue cheese aoli was a nice complement. The service was really good and the staff was very friendly. The only thing that could use a little sprucing up would be the wine list specifically the reds, there was at least 5 Pinot noirs as well as Cabs. I would have liked to see something a little more bold from Italy. Over it was a great valentines date night.

We had a good meal, but I have to say that the service was terrible right from the jump. I check in on time for my reservation, though my table was ready, the hostess decided to coordinate a table for a large party before seating me. We were seated 15 minutes later. Our server came over with water, never made eye contact with us or shared his name, asked us what we wanted to drink (coffee and sweet tea). He delivered our drinks, mine in a paper cup with no spoon for stirring the coffee, again not making eye contact, and didn't even bother to ask us what we were having to eat. He just walked off. 30 minutes passed with no check in from him. I went to the host stand and asked the hostess to send our server. She sent a different server who took our order by asking "did you need something?" Our food was delivered and we ordered mimosas. The original server then dropped the dessert menu on the table when we were about 2 bites into our meal and then was once again no where to be found. A third server came and cleared our plates. We asked her to send our server over as we wanted one more mimosa and dessert. She looked at him (he was VERY attentive to another, larger table) and said "Oh, I'll just take your order. What can I get you?" She was the nicest of all the service we had the whole time. Our original server then appeared after she delivered our drink and dropped our checks without a word. I like the vibe and food here, but that was enough to ensure I'll never go back. Worst service I've had in years.

They were out of the meals we wanted and the restaurant is very loud. Otherwise, it was a good evening

Food was great, service not so much. Be prepared to wait for cocktails....also as we waited for our drinks we saw our server in the back slamming wine. Will go back but sit at the bar next time.

Excellent drinks, the bar here is one of the best in town. Wonderful neighborhood spot. French onion soup was great,

I was surprised that the server had only tried the wines by the glass. If they aren’t going to do tastings with the servers you think that had better descriptions of each bottle.

Initial seating in front of the kitchen. It was so loud and hot we asked to be moved. They were very accommodating. We were not asked if we would like anything to drink, including water for at least 7 minutes after we were reseated. Service was slow and not just kitchen backup kind of slow. We have been several times and service is certainly there weak spot, but this occasion it really impacted our enjoyment

Exactly what we're looking for in a "nice" but not "fancy" neighborhood restaurant. The food and service are consistently good and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. A walkable favorite for this Kirkwood crew!
