We made a reservation for 8:30pm on a Saturday night — that’s the time we usually eat dinner on the weekends at various restaurants across the city with no issues, but when we walked into Scout, they seemed unhappy to see us. “Just so you know, the kitchen’s closing in less than 30 minutes” with raised eyebrows. Why accept an 8:30 reservation if we won’t be able to eat? The staff was frazzled and the place was near empty, yet somehow, our table wasn’t ready yet. I was blown away at what was happening — in direct earshot of us, they were talking about who was going to take our table as if nobody wanted to serve us. The whole experience made us uneasy getting to our table, and by the time we were seated, we had less than 20 minutes to order everything. Luckily, our actual server was quick and kind and did a great job. The food was amazing and that’s why it got 4 stars and not 3. I would probably go back for the food if someone was planning a group dinner there or something — but there are so many incredible restaurants throughout Decatur and Atlanta city proper that this one won’t be on our return list any time soon for the atmospheric experience alone.
Great outdoor experience, very covid aware staff , delicious food and drinks as always. Thanks!
Overall, it was ok/good. It was Saturday late morning and not very busy. I was really disappointed in their version of eggs benedict. It was oddly plated with too much arugula. It almost looked like a salad. The "toast" that the eggs came on was nowhere in sight. This is because they served up 2 ultra-thin slices of melba toast! I kid you not- I had to move my eggs to actually find the bread. Yikes.
A big part of this dish, for me, is the bread that the eggs are served on. For the money, this was way overpriced and unsatisfying. The apps were solid. The mimosa was fine.
The setting was fantastic. Service was fine. I just expected more based on reviews. I would go back I think, but would not be ordering the same thing.
Also enjoy going to this restaurant- one of my favorite spots!
lovely food, staff, and surroundings. great cocktails
Great food with excellent service (even when so many other restaurants are struggling to find staff). Highly recommend.
Really good food; but needs to work on presentation.
Celebrated a ladies night out and birthday. Sherry was an amazing and patient server. Nothing beats their beet salad and the airline chicken.
This is an awesome experience for indoor and outdoor dining.
The atmosphere is immediate in making you feel comfortable, service impeccable and food delicious, proportions perfect and taste sublime. We ordered a dish to share for dessert and our servicer timed it so it came out after we ate our entree.
It was split in the kitchen before served at our table! BRAVO...
Can't wait to share this experience with more foodies. Rebooking soon!
The Phoenix is breakfast perfection. Shrimp and grits are the best I've had, truly!
Service was amazing and the food was phenomenal!
Food was delicious as always but the services was a lot underwhelming, slow and inattentive. We were seated next to a table with very load non caring rude group of girls that was disrupting our conversation. Had this been our first time there I would not go back. The several other occasions it was a much more pleasant experience.
Awesome food and great service. One of our favorites in Kirkwood.
great place...smoked wings are great.fried cauliflower is great also
Last minute date night reservation. We were so impressed and surprised by this restaurant. We will definitely be back soon.
Service and bar were great, but the food was really bad. 3 out of 4 poached eggs came hard boiled, the duck was chewy and over cooked, the biscuits raw in the center, and the gravy was so salty it was inedible. The burger came out pretty good, and the grits were also solid, but out of 7 meals with sides, those were the only two good ones. Disappointed, had high hopes for Scout.
Food is always a little hit or miss here. The apps were fantastic, but the meat on the mains was overcooked.
My best friends bday. Wanted to sit on the patio but sent in the courtyard abs the flies were disrespectful!!!
Everything was great, food, service etc....but rather noisy.
Great food and environment. Will definitely visit again.
Food and drinks are always great! The entire staff is always so friendly and accommodating! Love this place!
Very nice dinner. The food was on point and professionally handled. We all loved our food. I wish there would have been more outdoor seating but we still felt ok indoors with our waiter wearing a mask. Good service but getting the check took way too long. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.
I’m surprised that I had not about Scout before. A laid back type restaurant with an upbeat vibe and extremely spacious (inside and outside). The food, drinks, and service were very good. Fantastic looking bar. If you are looking for a relaxed restaurant environment with higher quality food and drinks, Scout is a spot to check out. We will come back for sure.
Sonia K was amazing.
The food was really just OK, and we expected more for the price tag. I ordered the steak and eggs, and everything on my plate lacked flavor. A lackluster dish overall. Our server was pleasant and friendly, but we did feel she was rushing us out. She could have easily sold us another round of drinks, but showed up with the check instead.
While the cocktails are usually good, the food is always a miss for dinner. This time everything was really salty.
Meh. I came here for brunch a month ago and was blown away. This time, not so much. Our server was fantastic and so was the young lady she was training. Neither the mimosa nor the shrimp and grits were as flavorful as the last time. I’d return to Scout, but I recommend they get some consistency in the kitchen and at the bar.
They had a huge wedding party in the restaurant when we dined there which made me a little worried but the food and the service or excellent.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience. The beet salad was yummy and a great summer menu item, the wings lacked seasoning, but were well cooked. The cocktails and our entrees were certainly the highlight. The braised short rib orzo was heavenly! Cocktails were tasty. My one complaint was the flies: we sat outside on the back patio and had to fend off our food and drinks with every bite, which made it hard to enjoy our meal and the evening overall. We'll be back again to try brunch!
All of the food was VERY good. But, the service was meh. Our server kept walking by our table without stopping and we sat a long time between ordering drinks and apps and then between apps and dinner. There was also water dripping on our table in several places from the overhead pipes. Likely A/C condensation, but it was narrowly missing the cocktails, etc. and landed on one person's shoulder.
Amazing food, drinks and staff. The chef continues to blow my mind with the flavors, options and attention to detail.
Great restaurant with delicious food and great drinks.
Great food & cocktails accompanied by EXCELLENT customer service!
This was my 2nd visit and I absolutely loved it once again. I highly recommend it.
We absolutely loved having Brunch at Scout. Our server Ally was knowledgeable about the menu and everything we ordered was so delicious. Our favorite dish was probably the chicken and waffles!
Good and drinks were wonderful . Had a great brunch.
We are outside on the deck and it was fabulous!
The food is amazing. The outdoor dining option was nice and very clean. The improvement needed is service. Our server was extremely dry ...when asked about the certain menu options we received a very short response. My appitezer never made it out at all and when I brought it to the server's attention she seemed unbothered. I would return because the food was so good and I love the outdoor dining option but management needs to work on servers being a bit more "warm and fuzzy" and maybe start off by sharing some of their favorite dishes.
Wonderful neighborhood spot, large patio, delicious seasonal food and drink. Perfect place for a summer evening!
