I wanted to love this place. The menu sounded amazing, and you rarely find bad food in Decatur, so I was so excited to try Scout. The service was good and the ambience was cute but we did not enjoy a single thing that we ordered. The fish was so overcooked it was impossible to get a fork into and it was so dry it was inedible, the salad was overdressed and somehow simultaneously bland, the cocktail had almost no flavor - some of the food was fine but not remotely as expected or as described on the menu. It was so disappointing. I did fill out the card on the table with this same information but haven't heard back. It has so much potential as a concept and the menu sounds incredible, but the food and drinks were just not good.
The food was amazing. We understand during these times staff is short but it took a very long time to get any drinks ordered and few times we had to remind our server we had ordered something. The food runners were quick and helpful and we all enjoyed our delicious meals. Especially the lobster bene.
Food was great, and service even better. Steven, our server, was attentive, responsive, and friendly. Had a wonderful time.
Always fabulous! Always fun!
Have been for dinner before and enjoyed it but went for brunch and the food was even better than I remembered. It’s such a cool space too and the service is great.
We always enjoy Scout! Staff is very attentive and friendly. Food is great.
It was our first visit to Scout and we will be back. Great atmosphere and story behind the building. Outside dining, nice bar and friendly service.
No one wants surly service. Our lunch friends are in their 80s. They don’t use QR codes or read menus on phones. It’s not an inconvenience to be asked for a menu when one works in a restaurant. The bread and biscuits were very good, but the duck way over salted—and I like salt.
We went on a double date for a reservation on the later side (8:30). The restaurant was not very crowded but it took quite awhile to get prompt service. We arrived early and sat at the bar for a drink or two - they were very good, but the bartender had an EarPod in her ear (the hostess did too) and she also left the bar several times leaving us looking around. She also garnished my drink after putting it in front of me. Not a huge deal, but not super professional. Our friends arrived and we sat at our table, and it took about 10 mins for our waitress to come around. She was nice and her service got better as the meal progressed. The food was outstanding. I realize many restaurants are understaffed right now, but it’s frustrating to get slow service when you see staff standing around. The whole service experience just needed more thoughtfulness and polish. But the food was delicious! (Wings, hanger steak, lamb lollipops and snapper were some
of our favorites)
This was our first time at Scout. The food and drinks were amazing. We will definitely be back in the future. Great vibe and service!
Great food and brunch experience. Service was really nice and quiet because it was a crappy day so I would love to come on a nice one to sit on the patio and for dinner!
Excellent service and great food! Love the place itself too - very pleasant brunch!
We literally live around the corner and never took the time to grab a bite to eat there. The warmth and decor of the room are wonderful. Drink and dinner menu has a wonderful selection without being overwhelming. We will definitely return.
The Phoenix is the dish to get at brunch if you like chicken and waffles. The flavor of the chicken was excellent with just enough heat and the cheese mixed into the waffle batter is genius.
Our #1 go to for a fabulous dinner out. They always have fabulous weekend specials. Scout never disappoints!
I absolutely love this place! The food is phenomenal the atmosphere is great, and the staff are exceptional. We were not disappointed with our experience. Sherri was a phenomenal server, if you’re there Thursday through Sunday you should ask for her at dinner time, she is unobtrusive and ensures that you have a amazing time with a wonderful experience. She anticipated our needs and made us feel like we were her only table. This place is a hidden jewel! And if you’re there in the next few months you should certainly save room for the chocolate chip cookie dessert!
It was our Anniversary dinner and everything was perfect. Wonderfully warm and attentive service. Everything we ordered was delicious from the cocktails to the dessert - and everything in between. We'll be back!
I celebrated my 60th birthday at Scout with my two daughters in their 20s and one daughter's boyfriend. We chose to sit on the outdoor covered patio despite it being pretty chilly out but the heaters that were placed near our table kept us nice and toasty. The service was very prompt and friendly. We started with peppadews stuffed with goat cheese and beer battered fried cauliflower. Both were excellent. The peppadews were accompanied with chopped bacon, which was in the pan but not mixed with the goat cheese stuffing. A little odd but tasty. The cauliflower appetizer was huge - plenty for the four of us - with a horseradish aioli on the side. Very crispy and tender inside. For entrees, I ordered the airline chicken breast with parsnip puree and sautéed spinach with garlic. The chicken was very tender and delicious. The parsnip puree was a tiny bit sweet for me but it was silky smooth. You must love garlic (which I do) to enjoy the spinach. It has whole roasted garlic cloves in it. My companions had a pork belly banh mi, hangar steak with fries, and lobster mac and cheese. All were served in abundance and pronounced delicious. I tried the lobster mac and cheese and the lobster was very tender. We shared one slice of cheesecake for dessert. It was very good, but nothing spectacular. The dessert menu is quite limited. Nice wine and beer list, and interesting cocktails. I will definitely visit Scout again.
The food was disappointing considering the cost. Shrimp dip had no real shrimp in it and served with melba toast (very hard and not good), filet kabobs quite chewy, and spicy fries so salty almost inedible. Not the best experience unfortunately…
Anna was wonderful, attentive, efficient and kind.
Consistently good food and service. Nice ambiance and two great outdoor dining options.
Great brunch menu and heated outdoor patio. Nice and efficient staff. Delicious main course and sides. This is our second visit in a month!
What a wonderful experience!! It was our first dinner out with our newborn and let me tell you- the staff was amazing! They could not have been more accommodating! They were all so sweet and attentive. And the food and ambience were incredible. We’ll be back very soon!
Great service. Great food.
Everything was ideal. And even though we came for late brunch right before the kitchen closed, we were treated well and appreciated as customers. Everything tasted delicious—like some of the best meats and cheeses we have had—and everyone’s meal came out perfect too. Will be back for more food again.
Never a bad night at scout. Maybe update the menu a bit more often but there is something for everyone. And the drinks hit the spot
We dined last night with friends visiting from California. Overall our experience was very good. We all loved the food. We were seated promptly and given a glass of water. Half hour later a server came along and took care of us. The service, while friendly was slow, otherwise enjoyable experience and we will go again.
This is a gem in the Oakhurst neighborhood. Their bourbon game is strong.
We loved everything about our experience. Food was great and Sonja was very attentive. We had a great table and enjoyed being able to walk to the restaurant.
Food was great! Service was great once she came, but it took almost 10 minutes. She apologized profusely. Would definitely go back.
Food is alway good here, service is very hit and miss.
We were seated in a lovely area that allowed good conversation with great food. Thank you!
I met with my friends for Brunch for my birthday. It started off awkward by greeting the host, telling them, "Hello, we have a reservation under *name*" everyone at the host stand worriedly looked at the ipad and motioned for us to follow. No words. Maybe we were too early? Maybe their internet wasn't working? We'll never know I guess.
Over all the food and drink itself was fine. It would have been nice if they could of at least said Happy Birthday (yes, I noted it on the reservation). Probably won't go back based on the interactions alone. sorry :(
Horrible, HORRIBLE service, less-than-mediocre food. Never going back
This is an excellent place to eat for brunch, lunch, or dinner. While things are a bit pricier for a lower-middle class demographic, the quality of the food, drink, service, and atmosphere justifies the added expense.
Having eaten here a few times, I've failed to find a disappointing dish or drink. In fact, it seems that each time I come here, I find a new favorite thing.
Service was wonderful! I had a burger that was two patties. One cooked well, the other medium rare and very salty. The Bloody Mary was weak. I will return because others liked their meals. I‘ll try something different. Love the ambiance!!!
Incredible food and even better service. Celebrated a birthday with friends, can't wait to go back for a date night!! Ask the servers if there are any specials, ALWAYS great!! Leave room for dessert, ask for the warm cookie bake with ice cream. It is great to share with 2-3 people.
The food and the service were excellent. It has become our " go to" restaurant.
Our favorite Decatur restaurant. Always great to see our friends there. My mom, who grew up on the coast, was raving about the blackened shrimp.
