Scott's Seafood - Oakland Ratings and Reviews
I always enjoy dining at Scott's Seafood! I love their food and friendly service; and of course, their beautiful restaurant! It's consistently satisfying. Everyone I take there, walks away saying that they are going to bring a spouse and/or friends back to enjoy the restaurant. I don't live in the area, but when I visit, it is my go-to restaurant!
We have dined here often in the evening and for lunch. This was our first time for Sunday brunch. It was mediocre food at outrageous prices. While we recommend it for lunch and dinner avoid it for brunch? The Walnut Creek location is superior to Oakland if you have a choice?
We are regular customers and brought in a table of 8 out of town guests for a very special occasion. The food and music were great as always. We were recognized and welcomed back by several staff members. Our server however did not recognize us. She was largely absent and seemed put out when we asked for simple things. It was pretty embarrassing to have talked it up so much and have a lackluster experience.
We tried the trio of appetizers. The crab cake and shrimp popcorns are quite good but the calamari was tough. We had the Clam Linguini as our entree. It has only about 6 clams. Kind of steep for $33. The taste was fine. Overall, the food was only adequate for the price.
Menu is very very pricey. Swordfish was $35, and a 16 oz. NY Steak was $47.
That's a bunch!
Service: took a long time, close to 1/2 an hour, for our appetizers to arrive, and then, about 5 minutes later, the main courses were brought. That's inexcusable.
Then, dessert took almost 1/2 and hour to arrive.
At one point, my dining companion had to ask for more water, since the busboy had been very inattentive.
I won't go back there.
The Petrale sole I ordered was old or had been frozen and had an off flavor This is a local fish so it should have been fresh. The Atlantic salmon my friend had was good but very small piece. Vegetables are well prepared. We sat directly under the AC vent and it was FREEZING. Server turned it down for a while but then went back on. BE SURE YOU DON'T SIT UNDER THE AC. Lunch for two with no appetizer but one non alcoholic beverage each $86.00 plus tip.
Ambiance and flavor of the food is awesome! We had the trio appetizer (popcorn shrimp, crab cakes, calamari), filet mignon, crab legs, linguini & prawns. All the food was very flavorful. One hiccup was the filet mignon. We asked it to be prepared medium. We received it well done. We sent it back and receieved a new one but was prepared rare. Sent it back again and asked them to continue cooking the existing filet mignon instead of trying to cook a new one because we didn't want to wait again and have it be cooked the way we didn't ask. The third time we received it, it was cooked perfectly except for the parts that were overcooked because we asked them to recook the meat we returned.
We came here for dinner service and the ambience is romantic with soft lighting. Views of the marina and soft background music of a love pianist was a nice touch.
We had our wedding reception at Scott's and have been back several times since then. It is really a lovely place to eat, but it has gotten ridiculously pricy for the quality in the past dozen years. I decided to splurge this time and get the king crab legs, and though the portion was generous, the crab legs were overcooked and briny. My wife got the halibut, which was also overcooked and dry. It's a good restaurant and kid-friendly (though not kid-friendly pricing), but it's a once-a-year place for us at most, and if it didn't have sentimental value, we might not go back. For those prices (with tax and tip and not having any alcohol, the bill for two adults/one child ran to $140), the food has to be top-quality. The ambiance was great, and it was a pleasant evening, but the food just didn't match it.
The petrale sole was excellent and loved the shoestring fries. The salad was fresh and nice. Excellent wine and lovely porch seating on a warm Sunday afternoon. Brunch looked good too. Mom liked salmon and daughter liked hamburger. Desserts were outstanding!
I have been visiting Scott's for years. The ambience, quality of the food, and level of service can't be beat. This visit was the first time I had their Boston clam chowder and it was the best I've had anywhere. I can't say enough about what a great restaurant Scott's is and would heartily recommend it!
We had great service from the hostess and wait staff. Food was very good as were the drinks. My wife dropped a hearing aid in our booth and did not notice this until we were leaving the parking lot. When she called, the hostess and a staffer found it in the booth still intact.
Service was off and on this evening perhaps because it got very busy right after we were seat and our area was full when we finished dinner. This place is worth revisiting as it is in a great location with a good view to the west. Parking is very easy right next door and you do get a partial parking validation here.
We met there for dinner with cousins who flew from a distance. It was very enjoyable and we had a great time. The view was beautiful and the waterfront is always great to see. Everyone enjoyed our two hour stay and the food was great for everyone. Thanks Scott's for always being consistently wonderful every time we eat there.
We ate out on the patio just before sunset. Very nice view at the harbor. Sailboats and the ferry coming and going. Wedding party getting ready for their special day. Very nice and entertaining waiter. Food was good. Enjoyed just kicking back before we took the ferry over to a SF Giants game. Great way to avoid the traffic.
