Scott's Seafood - Oakland Ratings and Reviews
Our meals were delicious, presented well and generous. The service hit all the right notes... Always ready to refill water .. it's the little things they do so well! And the view... on the waterfront... just wonderful! Along with the piano which was played softly away from dinner seating... go and enjoy!
The seafood at Scott's is always exceptional. I would suggest that they change up their vegetables with the entrees a little bit. They are fresh enough but a little boring.
The restaurant does an exceptional job of acknowledging and celebrating birthdays. A+ for that.
The Scott's experience is consistent, and we have been coming here for 16 years. Calm and elegant, and at the same time laid back and informal. The backdrop of live music lends a jazzy vibe that is never intrusive. The range of experience available is wide. A family can go out for cheeseburgers all-round, or steaks and seafood. The location on the estuary is an exceptionally nice ambient factor (especially at sunset). Um, to get to the point, had another perfectly grilled salmon entree rounded out by a memorable house made key lime pie. Scott's is a great place for a special dinner, anytime. It's a perfect place to meet for a drink, maybe the best in Oakland. I appreciate that they do not gouge you on the wines, and their house selections are excellent. A classy, traditional yet modern place. Can't go wrong here. If you still heathenishly scarf bread, like I do, you will be happy when the generous plate of sourdough bread and butter is served.
A postscript: For several years I traveled to the Bay Area on business and stayed in Jack London Square, and would eat here because I always felt so taken care of and safe (as a woman dining alone). The staff are absolutely wonderful.
Our server was excellent she made the dinner. One of our parties was dealing with a show that was being put on in a private room at Scott’s so she ordered and then was running late on the server took care of everything she really went above and beyond and we really enjoyed her
The food was delicious. I ordered a dish that I have ordered before, but was not on the menu. Waitress told me that the dish was not available because it was seasonal and that I could only ordered dishes that were on the menu. I insisted and then she agreed to ask. She disclosed that she was a new employee. I am glad that she finally agreed to ask others about the food that I wanted to eat. We ordered more bread to another waitress and we got it until we were finishing our meals. My husband asked for another glass of wine, but it never came.
I’ll forgive them because it was New Year’s Eve, but the place was not that busy and the service was really slow, after being seated it took 15 min for our waiter to come take our drink order and then get some bread. I got choppino and no spoon, had to basically flag down 3 people to get a spoon 10 min later. Food prices were high for the quality and flavor. A beautiful location but I would not recommend.
Food was okay but it seemed very overpriced for what we got and our previous experiences. Our son ordered a burger which was overcooked and seemed to be reheated, they graciously recooked one for him, (his fries were delish). Seafood orders were okay but nothing outstanding for $35 dollar entrees. Our drinks were a disappointing at $12 each for call vodka, wow???
Nice touch for a birthday recognition, but a small scoop of berry sorbet just doesn't do it anymore.
So disappointing. We were hoping for a fun, festive night with family at a restaurant my husband and I remember fondly from holidays past. The restaurant was tired, the food was pricy and just okay. Most disappointing was the waitstaff who, although friendly and competent, did everything they could to jack up our bill. Recommending the most expensive wine, suggesting to most expensive appetizer, suggesting that salads and soups would not be enough for an entree (they were fine), and most annoying, refilling expensive kids drinks (Roy rogers and Shirley temples) three times without asking and then charging us for them! We had a huge bill, over caffeinated kids, and an unsatisfied pallet. We won't be going back.
Came here to try out the renowned Sunday Jazz Brunch. We loved how the restaurant was decked out in Christmas/Winter holiday decorations, and even all the servers were wearing Santa hats. The live jazz band really added liveliness and the holiday spirit in the restaurant. The buffet had a lot of options, and even featured items like King Crab Leg which was not on the menu! The cherry on top was the included Bloody Mary bar, and your server will even bring your table a platter of oysters from the kitchen to start with. Scott's Sunday Jazz brunch will definitely now be a part of our holiday tradition.
