Scott's Seafood - Oakland Ratings and Reviews
Sadly they didn’t seem prepared for a Valentines Day crowd at all. There was no distinction between customers with reservations and walk-ins. There was no communication to the customers about how that operation was supposed to work the customers just kinda communicated with one another about it. There was just one long wrapping line in a small crowded lobby area. We had an 8pm reservation and got seated at 9pm. The wait staff looked worn out and tired. Our waiter didn’t tell us anything about the menu but just asked what we wanted. Several of the menú items were unavailable so that really limited choices which cheapened the experience. The waiter brought me the wrong plate and gave it to someone else, I’m pretty sure he also brought my plate from someone else because the food was cold and he didn’t bring it from the kitchen. My wife’s food was cold as well and they were supposed to give her crab legs but gave her a couple small pieces of what looked like leftover crabmeat scraps. If that wasn’t bad enough, a few of the wait staff was just standing around staring at us for most of the night... that’s interesting because I never got or was even offered a refill on my drink; that glass of sprite I paid $5 for! To top it all off we had to ask for our bill and no one even bothered to ask if we wanted dessert. Tonight was a major failure and it was overly clear that the wait staff and chefs were tired and just no longer in the mood to uphold the standards established by Scott’s.
Valentine’s Day was an absolute nightmare. After waiting 20 mins to check in for our reservation, we got sat in a cold, drafty room. 15 mins goes by before some bus guy asks for our drink orders. Another 15 mins goes by before he realizes he still hasn’t grabbed them. Long story short, my date and I ended up leaving after speaking to the manager who, as kind as he was, didn’t seem to be able to handle the restaurant. We were regular patrons here, but, sadly we will find a new date spot.
I’m not sure if they made a mistake and over booked the place but I don’t recommend it for Valentines night. Grant it we were there exactly at 7:30pm which was the time of our reservation but the reservation line was ridiculous. Then we weren’t even in the main restaurant. I believe they sat us in the reception area where they have events. They set the area up with fold out tables, I can’t remember if it allowed us to select what area to sit in when I made the reservation but regardless I didn’t think we wouldn’t be in the main room at all! And our steaks were over cooked. I just think they reserved way too many people, a medium steak had no pink. I think this place is great, service is great but just not the place for Valentines night especially because if your spending a good chunk of money you expect something better.
Food was unsatisfactory. The filet was burnt, the sole looked like scrambled eggs and tasted like it and everything else was just overly fried.
The server was nice but seemed inexperienced. The place is just overpriced with a menu that doesn’t seem like it has change for 20 years
The food was pretty terrible, especially for Valentine's Day. I have done memories of Scott's from childhood, but the quality of the restaurant has not persisted through the years. My boyfriend and I were really disappointed. The service was terrible and it took forever for our server to come to the table for the order and to check on us.
Incredible Valentines! I was the hero to my wife and 17 Year old daughter for scheduling such a perfect restaurant. Loved the food, wonderful combo band, attentive staff. The restaurant had set up a free photo area, each of us received an instant portrait as a memory. We are looking forward to Valentines 2019 along with a few visits between now and then. Thank you Scott's-
We took our 2 yr old niece to dinner with us last night (Sunday) and really appreciated the busser making her a cup from a to-go soup container with a lid. He punched a hole in the lid, added a straw and suddenly we had a child friendly cup. The food is always fresh and yummy - the yelp check in deal where you get a free bottle of wine is awesome (though I recommend the red unless you like really tart Chardonnay). Never disappointed with Scotts.
Waitress made excuses for why stuff that we asked for wasn’t being brought to us. When we would ask for things she said “oh I’ll remind my busser” instead of her just getting what we were asking for. Appetizers never came. Have been to the Walnut Creek location and have never received such horrible service there like we did at the Oakland location. Will never come back to this location ever again.
I have to say, I am very disappointed! I took my sister for her bday and spent a total of $130 + tip for a brunch of 2! The food was not good, i even found a dirty plate! The selection poor, I recall Scott’s being a high end restaurant where we would not mind spending 150 for brunch for 2 people! The desserts were the worse!
Will never return!
We have been to Scott's in Jack London Square a few times & have always enjoyed the food and the service. The location is very pretty, overlooking the estuary and the ambiance is very nice.
It was a birthday night for my mom & they gave her a red rose & also took a family picture. Going the extra mile to ensure the night was special was very much appreciated.
Scott's has a wide selection of entrees & we have always enjoyed the food, whether we ordered meat, fish, shellfish, salad or pasta. The clam chowder is also delicious!
Had a great time & looking forward to our next visit.
My first time to Scotts Seafood, very nice atmosphere, not too noisy so you can carry on a conversation without shouting. The view of the Oakland Estuary was great and our waiter was very nice. I had the blackened salmon and it was very well cooked and tasty, however the piece of salmon was kind of on the small side and the everything is ala-carte, prices are a bit steep. Overall a good experience.
I hadn't been to this location of Scott's Seafood for over a decade and boy did it still shine! Everything from the Hostess to the waiters to the bartenders to the bar patrons was spot on with just the right amount of attention to service. The food is always great. We had Mahi Mahi with lemon caper sauce over garlic mashed potatoes and yum! Fish was moist and flaky. The Oysters Rockefeller did not disappoint. The Caeser salad had too much dressing but that is the norm for most restaurants. The New England Clam Chowder was balanced and delicately flavorful and the popcorn shrimp were to die for!
To start off, I ordered a Mojito. It came flat and I returned it. Told my waiter it has no bubbles from the soda water. He said when the soda water is mixed with the alcohol and other ingredients it has no bubbles. Wrong! I returned the Mojito and ordered a Prosecco instead. The Prosecco was untouched by human hands and can’t be messed up.
My tuna salmon tartar was good cuz it had minimum handling except for some pieces of sinewy tuna which I didn’t eat.
Our waiter was efficient. That’s all I will say. It’ll be awhile till my next visit.
I am working in San Franciso and my Wife comes in to visit occasionaly from Chicago. We always come to Scott's everty time she comes to town. SHe loves Scott's! Originally I had heard that Scoma's was the place for Seafood in San Francisco but after a couple of big disappointments there we found Scott's and never looked back.
I highly recommend Scott's for seafood!
Our service was excellent. We had a very nice evening. The food was good. They helped us celebrate a special occasion.
Fortunately, we had been given a gift certificate from friends because the prices...some prices at least, were shockingly high. A few examples: $11 for a cup of clam chowder, $26 for a Chinese Chicken Salad (Mixed Greens, Crispy Noodles, Bell Peppers, Toasted Almonds, Sesame-Soy Dressing). That is about a $4.00 food cost.
I found an older menu online. $8 for a cup of soup. So, a 38% change!
One appetizer, two entrees, one cocktail, two glasses of wine, one dessert...$157, plus tip. You be the judge.
We had a few drinks at the bar while waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. he bar has a good ambience and the drinks were quite good.
We sat outside and enjoyed an unseasonably warm weather. The food was plentiful and very good. We had the tri appetizer which was excellent and everyone enjoyed their selections. Pricey but good.
I was very disappointed from the beginning with the host. I felt he judged a book by its cover. I was recovering from the flu and was dressed down ( casual pants,’tennis shoes, etc.) as I did not go to work that day. He directed us to a table in the back of the restaurant away from all the other patrons. I asked him if there was a problem and he said no. After I called him out, we were treated better. I am a career professional who has worked hard for 30 years. The host obviously thought I wasn’t worthy of eating there. I normally like Scott’s mainly because of the location. I don’t know whether I’ll go back there again.
Enrique was our server and he was very attentive and provided excellent service. Enrique had recommended the Mahi-Mahi and it was excellent. Our table looked out on Alameda Estuary with the boats in their slips which helped make this a very relaxing evening.
Went here for my parents' anniversary. We had no idea it was their Sunday Champagne Brunch - I was so glad that it was! Bottomless mimosas and an AMAZING seafood buffet (crab, shrimp, smoked and cooked salmon, benedicts, prime rib, gumbo, jambalaya, the works! The service was outstanding. The place is family friendly (we had a 2 year old and a 9 month old with us). There's also live jazz music. Being situated on the waterfront was icing on the cake. They even took a picture of our table and had it printed for us!
Great Sunday brunch with live music - beautiful patio with heaters so you can sit outside even when the air is cool. The gumbo & Jambalaya were amazing. Bottomless mimosas or Bloody Mary’s are included in the brunch price. It’s definitely something to experience at least once.
Server asked if we were celebrating and , upon learning it was a belated evening out for my Mom's birthday, treated her like a queen. Amazing service, great food, great ambiance. Highly recommend it on any day, but even more for a special occasion. They created a great memory for my Mom.
What a fantastic experience! This is a classic old school dining experience, which in my opinion is very hard to find these days. Many local Bay Area restaurants that are high end have kind of left some of the old school ambiance and customer experience behind. It is pricey but you definitely get a great value for the money.
They have more "classic" seafood dishes like Oysters Rockefeller and stuffed salmon. But everything was delish!
I went there for my birthday and were pleasantly surprised with the great customer service. It was a wonderful dining experience. I would like to come back for their Sunday brunch or happy hour.
