I live in Carmel Valley and my wife and I are spoiled and surrounded by amazing restaurants. I was in Oakland on business and had been salivating for the previous week over the Oysters Rockafella appetizer, only to find out Scotts Seafood had no oysters! I must admit I was extremely surprised and somewhat disappointed. It seemed like going to a steak house and they were out of steak!
My bill for two was over $220.00, including a $78 bottle of Chardonnay that I found myself having to pour it myself on three occasions. It was a very quiet night with just a handful of occupied tables, so I was again surprised by the lack of service.
Overall not what I expected.
p.s. It was a Monday night and rumors tell you not to go to a fish restaurant on a Monday. In this case, perhaps they are right?
It was ok but not great. And, when my husband forgot his hat, they claimed it was not there even though it was on a chair at our table, not in an open area.
We had a very nice dinner! The waitress was attentive and pleasant. We always enjoy our going to Scotts it’s one of our favorite places.
Good food and beautiful view of the Bay. This would be a nice restaurant for dates or family lunches or dinners. I loved my swordfish dish :)
Great food and atmosphere. Service was also great!
Scott's has gotten to be quite expensive and the food's not that great. The view is lovely, and so if you want clam chowder and good bread, it's still a good place to go. I wanted a crab louis salad, which wasn't on the menu (!), and what I got wasn't that good and cost a lot of money. Two people for lunch, one with a salmon sandwich and iced tea, me with one class of wine and the crab louis, and the tab was close to $70. They had an expense account, so whatever. Still, I wouldn't recommend for a friend.
I enjoyed this dining experience! It was my Sis bday dinner and they gave her a Beautiful Red Rose and dessert 4 free!
Food was delicious!!!!
I used to loved this restaurant, but now the food quality is not there, service not good. I would not go back. Too bad because this is a nice restaurant and a beautiful view. We were looking forward for a nice relax and enjoy our brunch, but we disappointed :(
Actually the experience was rewarding. Our server was "off the chain" with her attentiveness, wit, and panache.
We went for their Sunday Brunch. The food, service and location are all excellent. It's not very often you see people who seem to be enjoying their job be it the servers, chefs and cooks. And they help each other, and smile - that was refreshing to observe.
Know that we'll be back to this Scott's Seafood at Oakland again and again.
Waiters were not attentive
Overall ambience good , touristy place. Boudin bread for sale at the entrance great view of the and estuary and City. The food however was greasy and dated. Service fell short.
Great place for a special meal and celebration!
Really enjoyed our dinner at Scott's, as always great food and ambiance. Celebrated my friend's birthday, and they made it a memorable event.
It was our 35th wedding anniversary dinner. We were welcomed and congratulated on our special day. Awesome seating next to the window. Beautiful sunset. Great drinks. Great food. Special dessert , long stem fresh red rose and a framed snap shot of our lovely evening. You made it very special for us. See you again.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Wonderful ambiance, view and food. The service is impeccable
We had a wonderful meal overlooking the water. It was very enjoyable.
For a relaxed good time with good food and good service go to Scott's in Oakland.
We had the Sunday Brunch Buffet. Pricey but worth it. Wide selection of food including unlimited oysters, shrimp, salmon, prime rib, ham and much more. They also offer selections on the menu, but we couldn't turn down the buffet that was on display. Good and attentive staff!
Katherine was amazing she provided a great evening to celebrate my parents 40th Anniversary. My parents loved her personality and familiarity with our neighborhood as were neighbors. The food was delicious my best yet at Scott’s.
Our waitress was very attentive and helpful! Food was good
I booked this on short notice and the restaurant had our table waiting, although there wasn't much of a rush of customers at that point.
Nice place and quick get away from downtown Oakland.
Food was tasty for a quick business lunch.
Beautiful view. Great presentation of the food. The meal itself was disappointing. Soup arrived lukewarm. Mash potatoes arrived lukewarm. Ahi was cold, I mean refrigerator chilled. It was not a Saturday night so this is no excuse.
Server was not very attentive. We asked if the appertizer & food comes with Salad and she said NO. But when the appetizer came it came with the Salad and so did the meal. Was a little disappointing.
Expensive, but worth it.
Lifelong friends get together for brunch. Amazing spread, many seafood options as well as a tasty Bloody Mary bar !
A terrific evening all around!
The fish entrees were excellent, and the server was knowledgeable and attentive.
An old school classic that did not disappoint.
Came here for an early dinner with cousins. Beautiful view, our waitress Katherine was awesome!
Food was outstanding except that the vegetables were very under done, nowhere near al dente but everything else was delicious.
Scotts is “tired”. Needs a major makeover. Not the same as yesterday. Yes the view is nice.
First time experiencing Sunday brunch and were definitely going to make this a monthly thing.
Everything was really nice about it. The view was spectacular, food was excellent service from great, extremely nice atmosphere. If you’ve got the money to spend, then this is definitely a place you’d want to go to on that special occasion. I wouldn’t recommend going there just to spend that kind of money just for Breakfast or brunch. Other than that wonderful experience.
This brunch surpasses most we have ever attended. The seafood itself pays for the brunch, let alone the tasty and bottomless sparkling wine. Not your typical buffet brunch, but way superlative!! And the live jazz group that starts at 10:30 am is always wonderful and soothing.
The food was bland and over priced...but the service and ambiance was ok.
My first time eating there! 😔
We arrived early for our reservation, but were seated very quickly even though it was pretty busy. We all ordered cocktails which were delivered quite soon. Each of us ordered something different for dinner and we all liked what we had although there was nothing extraordinary about either the appetizers or the entrees. We brought our own bottle of wine. The service was fine and there was a person playing the piano which was very nice.
Scott's is my go to restaurant. I am always ensured to have delectable food, wonderful service and a satisfied feeling treated to a special occasion whether there is one or not.
I love Scott’s. I always have the Ahu tuna meal. The mashed potatoes are so creamy. The staff are wonderful. Barbara is the BEST!! I always bring my friends for special occasions. Today, I celebrated my girlfriend and my birthday.
Barbara made us fill special
Very good atmosphere, delicious food for a nice occasion
The Valentine's menu choices were subpar and overpriced. Just about every menu item was served with mashed potatoes. I felt like my husband and I were on an assembly line to be seated served and out of the restaurant, so they could get money from the next couple. Not a good experience at Scott's.
It was great night eating at this restaurant. The ambiance was good. The food was ok. Good customer service not great but good.
