Scott's Restaurant - Walnut Creek Ratings and Reviews
We always enjoy going to Scotts and can usually have a great tasting meal, however the steamed Maine lobster I ordered was actually very tough and didn't have the flavor I expected when I ate it. The wine was wonderful, appetizer was very good--- I won't order the lobster again, as it was expensive, which I don't mind paying . But not enjoying the meal was disappointing.
Our favorite restaurant in Walnut Creek, hands down. The ambience is warm and cozy, the place is always packed, but we are always seated in a beautiful place, and always get reservations. The hostess is so gracious upon arriving, and the servers are tops. We feel like we know them like family. Also, the jazz music is the real deal, and we especially enjoy them rip out tunes in fine fashion. Thanks for being in Walnut Creek, so that we can enjoy our favorite. place. Oh...did I mention how delicious the food is. We always get the oysters and seafood and are never disappointed!!
My sister treated me for my birthday and we had a lovely time. We each had the seafood salad which was absolutely wonderful - abundant crab, shrimp and scallops - for once we had to look for the lettuce instead of the seafood! Yummy! Our server recognized it was my birthday and presented me with a beautiful red rose and a picture of my sister and me in a little card frame. It was such a pleasant surprise, and a totally delightful experience.
-Two of us arrived early and told the host we'd arrived and would be in the bar. When the hostess came to seat us we asked for the bar tab to be transferred to dinner tab. The hostess told us that was fine. After she spoke to the cocktail waitress we were told our tab would be closed out from the bar first. We had to wait for this to be done and wait for the hostess to return to seat us. We would prefer to pay only once.
-When we were seated the hostess did not ask to carry our drinks or assist. I managed to juggle my coat, drink, purse and a gift to the table.
-The third member of our party did not realize we had already arrived and was waiting near the host/hostess desk for us. The host did acknowledge her or ask if she could be helped.
-Menu indicated that filet came with a 16 oz. potato. Waiter informed us that they were out of baked potatoes and other options could be substituted. About a half cup of roasted potatoes were substituted a far cry from at 16 oz. potato.
-Two filets that were suppose to be medium rare came well done. To add insult the injury each had wooden labels indicating medium rare. Upon request the waiter took the steaks back and brought back properly cooked steaks. However, this meant one of us, who did not order the filet ate most of her meal before the other two received their properly cooked steaks.
-Our reservation indicated this was a Birthday celebration and this was not acknowledged in any way.
One of these slights may have been overlooked or even forgotten but the combination was totally unacceptable. We will not be returning.
Used to dine at Scott’s years ago and had a negative experience. We decided to try it again and enjoyed our evening. It’s such a warm, cozy ambiance with the jazz trio playing from the bar. Love the valet parking in the garage, service was excellent, I had the ahi tuna and my husband had the filet which was over cooked but he said the taste made up for it. We had a booth and easily held a great conversation. We will go back
The seafood tasted great, beautiful restaurant too. We only wish the service matched up. We went there to celebrate New Year’s Eve. The restaurant was really busy. My champagne wasn’t chill, surprisingly. There was no spoon for the dressing of our salad. Our waitress was no where to be found most of the time. She never stopped by to check on our food. Our water wasn’t refilled either. For a nice and pricy restaurant like this, we were really disappointed with the service.
Always a wonderful experience. This visit was on New Years Eve. Our reservation was for 5:00PM. It was relatively quiet when we sat down. As the evening wore on the noise level increased. I think most were in a festive mood. It isn’t normally this noisy. Our service by Lily was excellent, and we could see the manager,Sebastian moving throughout the restaurant to ensure everything was to his satisfaction (straightening chairs, greeting customers, Checking table settings, etc. He was leaving nothing to chance. He was inspecting what he expected, which is an attribute of a good manager. Well done Sebastian! Yep, your customers are watching 😀😀😀.
I've taken my family to Scott's before for the holidays...it's become a tradition. I was disappointed this time for a couple of reasons....we were originally sat in one of the conference rooms. Since we specially come to hear the live jazz group I was not pleased to be listening to what sounded like canned music. We did ask to be moved and they did accommodate us. The food was only OK. The au gratin potatoes were so undercooked that they weren't even al dente. The potatoes were actually hard. They had , I believe, 4 different kinds of salmon. I tried all four and couldn't tell the difference. The crab benedict were barely look warm. The carving station was the best part of the meal. The service was fair but I think I was overcharged. I was never told that the tip was going to already be included in the final bill...it didn't state that on the bill. So my server may have ended up with a tip of over $125.00 She was good but not that good.
We went to Scott's on New Year's Eve for brunch. They have a buffet on days like this and it was wonderful; lots of choices and all well-prepared. It was a buffet and so was not as though it had been prepared just for us. The servers were vert attentive; endless good champagne. We were started of with Beignets just like we had in New Orleans. It was pricey, but that is what to expect when the offering is so plentiful.
Our waiter was great, and very attentive.
Brunch has a great variety - ie. Salmon cooked in 8 ways, more than 6 desert types, more than 6 eggs type (eggs benedict, scrambled, omelets, crab benedict, etc) Fruits, salads, bakery, and bottomless champagne and mimosas... I am sure there is more, but that is what I ate.
Solid old school standard. Initial service was ok - the party of 14 across from us was the cause(there’s LOTS of big celebratory parties). Solid service after they left. Food was outstanding- fresh fish and seafood-well prepared and well accompanied. Good wine list- like the food- no pretention. We will be back.
My family and I have been coming to Scott’s since we moved to Walnut Creek 27 years ago. Birthdays, anniversaries, visiting relatives/friends, Easter, Christmas and just when we want a relaxed but elegant meal. We’ve never been disappointed. This time it was just two friends getting together, and it struck me how much a part of our lives Scott’s has become. Thank you!
Our server seemed a little pre-occupied - needed reminders to pour wine, bring more coffee and the restaurant was not very busy. When she presented the check, she said that she had to dash to her next job rather than thanking us for coming. Small details that for the cost of the meal should not have been the case. However, my guests adored the setting, quality of the food and that we could easily talk across the table because the background noise was very subdued. They also liked the valet parking option.
This was the second time.i have been to Scott's in the last year. This year we went there for Christmas Eve. The food was good but not great for the price you pay it should be better the best thing we tasted was the New York strip steak it was really a five-star steak some of the other dishes would just okay it's an expensive meal and everything should be perfect which it wasn't we were also stuck in a side room which was less than satisfactory if I had known that I would have asked for a different table not sure I'll be back
Somewhat pricey (especially for premium entrees like lobster and crab). Excellent service, lovely surroundings, menu changes every month. Food quality varies from excellent to just OK depending on what's ordered. Valet garage parking makes driving to the restaurant convenient.
We were surprised to find that our only option was a $75. Brunch. We made reservations on Open Table and had no idea we couldn’t just order off their normal menu. We had taken two people to have lunch and we couldn’t just walk out. It was a very lovely brunch buffet, but it would have been nice know that the high priced brunch was the only option.
We went their for our Christmas dinner for two. ordered the double lobster tail . Service was not happening at all. Food was cold not enough butter for the lobster. No one came to our table and when she finally did. She did not care. Ordered the pastry for dessert I could not cut it with a knife sent it back. Will never come again. So sad use to be my favorite restaurant. My bill was 220 dollars you think I might get good service? NOPE
My husband and I have been to Scotts a few times over the last couple of years. Most of the time, we have enjoyed our experience. However, this year, the waiter we had was not attentive at all and almost acted as if we were a bother to him. We did not order any wine or alcoholic beverages so perhaps that is why the waiter ignored us most of the time. When I made the reservation through Open Table I noted that it was my husbands birthday. When the hostess seated us she asked whose birthday it was and she wished my husband a Happy Birthday which was very nice. The meal we ate was very good, so the quality of the food is still there. But, when time came for dessert I mentioned to the waiter it was my husbands birthday so he brought us the sorbet we ordered with a candle and he sang happy birthday. When I got the bill, the waiter charged us for the sorbet! I was a bit surprised since I thought it would be on the restaurant for the birthday celebration. $8.00 for 3 small scoops of sorbet is a bit ridiculous, so maybe there was a fee for the candle and the lighting of it. We have no plans to return to Scotts anytime soon, if ever.
