Scotland Run Golf Club's Highlander Pub & Grill
Pricey, but good. Drinks were exceptional, food was good but was a bit on the cold side.
We sat outside and it was nice looking over the golf course while enjoying our dinner and conversation. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was one of the best I had. My son ordered the Mexican burger and said he wished they would serve it at his reception. The creme brûlée with a shot of champagne ended our evening on a perfect note.
Just wish the food was better... it could be awesome with the right items... like need antipasto on the menu and they need real pepperoni not out of a bag and out of the bag crackers... for the price of the shrimp cocktail it was like frozen thawed shrimp.... we love the place just wish the restaurant took more time about the food! The sandwiches are good, burgers are good... just needs a refresher....
seated in the bar area at our request. Servers were very nice and very pleasant. Enjoyed the happy hour menu and a couple of beverages. Nice evening
Early Mother’s Day
My husband and I got married at Scotland Run last year, so we wanted to go back to celebrate our anniversary. Also, we had an anniversary dinner included in our wedding package. If we were trying out Scotland Run to see if we wanted to get married there, we wouldn’t have picked it. The service was awful. We sat outside because the inside was packed with everyone watching the Kentucky Derby, which made the whole place very loud. The music outside was also very loud, which didn’t create a nice ambiance at all. Our server kept forgetting about us and made no attempt to wish us a happy anniversary or make us feel special at all. The hostess was the only person who acknowledged our anniversary. We usually wouldn’t care about that, but this is where we got married at a year ago. We thought they would be sure to make our night feel special.
The food wasn’t very good either. The Sicilian calamari was soggy and not what we expected at all. My husband ordered the filet medium rare and it came out charred on the outside and very rare on the inside. I ordered the chicken caprese and subbed out the mashed potatoes for linguini. My chicken was smothered in a red pepper sauce, but my linguini didn’t have any sauce on it. I also ordered a side of shrimp and it was over cooked. Both my food and my husband’s was flavorless. Our server didn’t come to check on us until the end of our meal when we wanted to just get the check and leave. We’re really disappointed with our experience here. Even though this is our wedding venue and we had a beautiful and fun wedding, we will not be returning to Scotland Run. It is overpriced considering the subpar food and awful service you get.
Enjoyable atmosphere, very inexperienced wait staff and poor food. I won’t return.
Love theBrunch it’s the best
I had reserved a table for 8 a week in advance and they put us at a small cramped table , although they had lager tables they never put anyone else in them , service was very slow and the food was cold when it arrived .
Jason & Edward made our visit a delight. Excellent service, delicious food & reasonable price make this the destination of choice for any celebration
Thanks for the great review! We are so happy to hear Jason & Edward gave you such fantastic service, and we'll be sure to pass on your comments to them!
Food was good waitress was awesome and decor was cool
I had a really good time as usual, my friend and I had dinner in the bar at a booth and it was lovely.
First time dining at Scotland Run. We decided to go for brunch and so happy we did! You get so much and more for the price along with no wait for the food. My husband already booked the next 2 weekends to go back!
Disappointed with food selection. There used to be more hot dishes. Particularly seafood. They started to substitute pork and a veggie pasta dish. Seems they are going less expensive. The server never told us about ordering pancakes or eggs Benedict. She never refilled our drinks and had to constantly flag her down. This was my favorite for brunch. Not anymore.
Everything was ok.. except we felt like we were part of the wedding which was going on upstairs.
I had Valentine's dinner with my hubby.it was very nice romantic and cuzzy .food and drink was good.lil bit pricey . worker is very nice and helpfull.we like gi come back on the summer.
Great evening but one huge disappointment was the pre meal cocktails. Cosmopolitan not properly chilled, accustomed to a martini glass but instead some sort of wide rim high ball glass (glass wasn’t chilled either). Dozens of years ordering Jack Daniels Sour, all garnished with an orange slice. Yours wasn’t very sour, Jack Daniels distinctive flavor not detectable, garnished with a lemon.
This was our 2nd time for Brunch and really enjoy coming. The food choices is good, and the place is clean & quiet. Service is great, but my waiter yesterday after we got our food awhile took over 30mins to check on us and had to get a bus boy to get him for our check. We would like to come back.
I made a reservation in the bar area for our anniversary. My husband is a golfer and loves to watch golf. We were seated in a lovely round booth in the corner and my husband could also see the game. I asked Melissa the very nice hostess why we were giving such a lovely table and she said it noted it was your anniversary on the reservation. It was our 10th Wedding Anniversary and I didn't think you really read the extra details when making a reservation with Open Table. Thank you!
Good service and menu variety. We both ordered veal parmigiana and not the best I’ve had. Would stick to beef and chicken dishes in the future
Thank you for the feedback, Donna. We are sorry to hear you weren't 100% satisfied with your meal, but we appreciate you letting us know, and we will be sure to share with our staff. We tried to go to our other local restaurants too long of a wait use the OpenTable app found there was a time slot for us ended up sitting at the bar had great food and a good time
Thanks for the feedback, Fred. Glad you found us on OpenTable and gave us a try. We hope to have you back again soon!
Made a reservation through open table and made two requests - a table by the window and as far away from the bar as possible. Entered the lobby. The hostess appeared from behind a countered dressed for god only knows what - certainly not business. She was wearing sneakers and a tee shirt with a sweater pulled down to her elbows. She never looked at our request for seating so I repeated what we wanted. She said, "Yeah, sure." She sat us at the window RIGHT NEXT TO THE BAR. Honest to god - I wrote the request & I spoke it. Nothing stuck to that wall. The table was filthy - actually sticky- and my chair was covered with food & crumbs. I couldn't even think this stuff up. This place has become a mess.
Service was good. our waiter was on top of everything.
We are sorry we did not accommodate your request. We always attempt to fulfill all of our guests’ requests. We would love an opportunity to discuss with you further, please reach out to our F&B Manager, Jeff Mastrangelo at 856-863-3737. Thank you.
Great brunch buffet with helpful staff and a lovely view.
We love Sunday brunch at Scotland Run it’s the best
Jeff our waiter was exceptional. I would specifically request his table in the future. My only minor complaint was some of the food was cold or could have been hotter, the home fries and bacon.
We will be sure to share your comments with Jeff! We always strive to provide exceptional service to our guests, and we are glad to hear you enjoyed your dining experience with us. We apologize that some of the food seemed cold, and we thank you for the feedback to help us improve.
Birthday and it was very nice. I requested a table by the window and we were given one—altogether very pleasant!
My friends and I had a very favorable experience -- it was their first time at your facility and they were very impressed overall. Brennan, our server, was patient and accommodating.
Thank you for the great feedback! We are so glad to hear your friends had a great first experience with us, and we hope to have you all back again soon! We will be sure to share you comments with Brennan as well.
We went for breakfast with Santa. It was VERY overcrowded. We were seated upstairs in a banquet room (not in the actual restaurant and no where did it say this might happen when making the reservation) the spread of food for brunch offered upstairs was less and not as well maintained as the spread that was downstairs in the main dining room. Our waitress was definitely overwhelmed but she was overall excellent and stayed sweet and pleasant. The upstairs hostess told us they ran out of high chairs (I requested a high chair on my reservation) so we had to hold our 1.5yr old son for the first 15-20mins of being there. I asked the hostess for a booster or high chair several times and was always told "someone is looking for one" eventually they did find one for us though the buckle strap was broken. Overall not a fun experience and we were very disappointed, especially for the price! It's a shame, we've been to brunch during a regular Sunday and it was very good.
We apologize your experience was below our standards during your visit. We would love an opportunity to discuss with you further, please reach out to our F&B Manager, Jeff Mastrangelo at 856-863-3737.
An excellent experience!
Food for 3 out of 5 guests were poorly done.
Brunch on Sunday is the best around
Our waiter was Brendan who was attentive to our needs as well as several servers who made sure our party had plenty of beverages and anything that we needed. Over the years we have enjoyed our time at Scotland Run. Two of our children held their wedding here. We have held Christening and Anniversary parties too. The food is great and your staff is wonderful to work with.
There were 5 ladies and our order consisted of 3 chicken pot pies and 2 shepherds pie. Our pot pies were only warm enough so that I small child to eat it right away. Our server never checked back till we were 15 minutes into eating. At that point there was no sense in bringing it to her attention. Maybe you can't serve hot food to that size group.
Enjoyed the meal.
I have to unfortunately say that we I was very disappointed in the Sunday brunch. Our reservation was at 11 AM. A lot of the food was just lukewarm. Maybe I missed this but cold bagels? The dessert table was not filled in a timely matter and was observed at 1/2 empty and I mentioned it to the girl who greets you. - and then when it was filled up there were no more chocolate/vanilla dipped strawberries added. I think for a restaurant of your caliper and for the price point, I expected a lot more. Honestly ,based on our visit, I would not take a chance at coming again.
Beautiful Decor, Great Ambience. We were about 30 minutes early for our reservation and they accommodated us immediately. The server was very pleasant. Overall, a Wonderful Experience. We will return
Not a huge selection for Sunday Brunch, but more than enough.
My husband and I dined at the Highlander for the first time for our anniversary dinner and were very pleasantly surprised with our experience! The scenic view was calming, the interior cozy, and a live band that played great music at the appropriate level. We definitely want to go back for lunch to try their sandwiches!
A gem nestled within a rural setting, we would love to make the Highlander a regular place to eat!
Delicious! Love this place! Love the atmosphere and the staff is awesome.
