Food was okay. Service was good. Pretty empty for a Sunday night.
The grilled Branzino was very good. They made a mistake with our bill but corrected it very quickly. Very nice place
Outstanding! They helped us celebrate a birthday and did a fantastic job!
red wine served much too warm(hot)..Had to ask for it to be chilled.
The restaurant was very nice, with dim lights and a moderate noise level. The food was very good, but service was quite slow.
I had high expectations for Scopa considering it’s good reviews. However, the hostess in the front was just the worst to deal with. Honestly, she was the worst hostess I’ve ever encountered. Our group of 8 was placed at the very front by the open front doors and it was very cold. We asked to be moved and not being able to move us would have been fine with a professional response that there wasn’t any availability when there was at least 1 other table I saw we could be moved to. However, her response was, “Well you didn’t specifically request seating away from the door.” Thank goodness for the other male host who was kind enough to see the situation and offer to close the front doors. Otherwise we would have left. I definitely wouldn’t be back for their soggy pasta either. Who knew an Italian restaurant can’t cook al dente? The only reason I’m giving the restaurant 3 stars is for our waiter and the male host who resolved the situation.
We came for our mother’s 65th and asked for one of the private rooms. When we arrived we were told they could not put us in a private area. However, the private rooms were basically empty. Seemed to be understaffed, had to ask multiple times for things. Food is good for the price.
We were disappointed with our visit to Scopa. When we first arrived, they could not find our Open Table reservation (which I definitely made). Since I couldn't find the confirmation on my phone in that moment, the hostess said that the best they could do without a reservation was to seat us at a back table in another room. It was pretty isolating and removed from the rest of the tables.
It took them 20 minutes to remember to come to our table with menus and they never brought bread. I only realized later in the meal when our waiter was bringing a bread basket to another table that he forgot to bring the bread to us. I ordered gnocchi for my son and pasta primavera for myself. When the 2 dishes arrived to the table, I tasted the gnocchi and it tasted like it was burned! There were some black specks on the gnocchi so I sent it back to the kitchen and they brought back a new dish for him. Also, I noticed that my pasta primavera had no vegetables in it and I had to send it back to the kitchen as well.
I was surprised that such a nice restaurant would make so many mistakes with us throughout the evening! Very disappointing!
Love to go for late lunch or happy hour - solid food - good prices
Really enjoyed Scopa. First visit, last week. Food was delicious; lovely place, large, but still felt cozy. And it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation. Would def go back.
My boyfriend could not cut his main dish of chicken. His salad was not good. The wait staff was in a world of their own. Not at all responsive. We have been there a good number of times. The last time we were there it was the worst. I was happy with my dishes. I cannot go back......... Ugh!!
Third time here. Other visits great. This Sunday eve there were 5 tables in all and 6 people at the bar with one bartender. Took 20 min to get drinks appetizers came after a long time and were good. Another 20 min for mains. Not so good. Mine cold, and one in our party had been forgotten so we waited for that one. Staff were not overwhelmed with only 5 tables in the place. Bartender not good.
So dissatisfied as I had picked this place for birthday dinner and my guests had never been. No one asked how our dinner was while we were leaving. Never go on Sunday nite.
Hostess couldn’t find my open table reservation, even though it was booked 5 days in advance. Server never brought us bread - we had to ask the man who kept refilling our water (he was great). In general, server wasn’t great. Took a long time to get our food order in even though it wasn’t that busy. Food was mediocre. But cheap house wine - $28 for a bottle of red.
We were delighted to find them Chelsea neighborhood Italian eatery a few weeks ago and have been back a few times thereafter, bringing out-of-town guests to experience great cuisine in a fun and casual setting. The tables are not too close to one another -- a rarity in NYC. The service is excellent and the portions are delicious and generous, too. This is fast becoming our Go To neighborhood spot.
Good food, good value, service staff seemed a little overwhelmed.
Not recommended. The food was ok, it's possible to find better restaurant for the same price range. We won't come back.
The restaurant is cute and surprisingly good and not noisy for the area it’s in. Service could use a little help, however food was pretty good for the price.
Food was average overall. Service was lacking. It was so with almost no follow up from the waiter.
Christmas Day- Thank you so much to the staff for working Christmas day so we could relax and enjoy
my mother in law had the lamb chop that was amazing, ( we didn't want to do the prefix fish menu) I had the snapper tasty but very small portion Now the deserts only 3 options as limited menu but OMG the banana tart was incredible I will go back just for that
We all had a good meal in a group of 8. Only exception was rib eye too well done.
The ambiance was good
Had Christmas lunch at Scopa whilst visiting from Australia. We all thoroughly enjoyed Scopa and the food was amazing.
After making a reservation, we were turned away when we arrived. We showed up on time but we’re told they were closing early. We had to find a different place nearby but their food and service were horrible. Overall, a bad experience that started at Scopa.
Food, service and ambiance was average. I’d come back if I couldn’t get a reservation anywhere else. Best part of the dinner was that there were only two other occupied tables, which made conversation among our group quite enjoyable ( and audible).
Great brunch value in Chelsea - perfect for a meal before a matinee at the Joyce! A bit understaffed so service is slow- but super friendly!
Overall food was great from appetizer to pasta to crème brûlée. Service was average.
Host was friendly and the atmosphere was elegant, but not overly so. Nice setting with a modern tilt to it, the food was great.
Food was OK, they were out of a number of things on the menu which did not encourage us. Service was mixed.
Food was underwhelming, half of the food for a plate was not provided, forgot to bring coffee and then the cream, and break was brought after all the other food was delivered..
We had a fabulous experience - the staff was exception and the food delicious. My nieces were visitng from out of town and we ordered family style. Plenty of food to go around and we got to taste a little bit of a lot.
I missed this experience with the previous tenant. It was always way too loud - not sure why but this seemed lively but manageable.
Look forward to going back!
Service was slow (we kept having to hail the waiter and were there for over 2 hours)
The service here leaves a lot to be desired. We were sitting for 20 minutes without even having our drink order taken. Every time the waiter passed and we got their attention it almost seemed like we were bothering them. It was very slow and inattentive. Food was just ok.
The food was good but service was the worst i have ever received in my life. I had to literally go up to the hostess stand at one point because no one had come over to our table for about 30 minutes.
The hostess was a bit cold for someone in that position and we waited awhile after arriving because no one was at the front, but the waitstaff was friendly and the food was excellent.
Slow service and mediocre food. Plenty of better places in Manhattan. Only 2 beer choices. Nothing too impressive about this place
We were a group of 10 old friends and really liked this restaurant's relaxed ambiance and not being rushed. The salads were very tasty and there were a wide variety of lunch choices. Unfortunately, the food came out over a 20 minute period so that some people were on their main course while others had just gotten their salads. And three people ordered the same fish dish, which was overcooked and chewy. They would have said something to our server if we could have gotten his attention. The staff was very friendly, I just think they could use a bit more training. I would give Scopa another chance because it's hard to find a place big enough to fit a large group without being rushed.
Enjoyed the food, the pasta was very good, we sampled some appys, wild boar with polenta was great!! the house wine reasonably priced, just fair.
I went for brunch with my girlfriend, we tried ravioli and pappardelle pasta. Good quality pasta, they make it in house. Fairly priced. Ambiance is chic with jazz music in the background
Excellent Service No Wait time Absolutely delicious food A must Go again
