Our Fisherman's Wharf seafood restaurant is steeped in a family tradition of quality and service. Still family owned and operated, Scoma’s opened in 1965, when brothers Al and Joe Scoma took over a six table coffee shop serving fishermen on the wharf. Using their mother’s recipe collection, the Scoma brothers' humble café evolved over the years becoming the quintessential San Francisco dining destination it is today.

    My Mom and I went for lunch and had a simply lovely time. She adores the fact that very little has changed since she came as a newlywed, including the wonderful food. I can't thank you enough for the lovely memory that we both now have of our visit.

    Waitress seemed more interested in seeking most expensive items than to take our preferred orders and meals. She asked what cocktail I oreferred, told her nothing (medical condition). She asked what about my wife (who was away from table at the time) I said not sure if she is having anything but you can ask when she comes back. Upon her return the waitress approached a d said "he said you'r the one who drinks and want a cocktail"!. I corrected her with what I said exactly. I asked if their calamari appetizer is good. She right away pointed to their most expensive appetizer (which was not something I liked). We ordered the Calamari. Later when she took our main meals and I was asking about something that appealed to me (a pasta shrimp dish) she right pointed to most expensive 3 items in the menu and said "those are similar but better". If she recommended things after answering our questions I would have been ok but it was quite obvious that was not her interest; rather she seemed more interested in growing the tab (btw, not just for our table, but nearby tables as well, ad I could hear them).

    My wife and I enjoyed our dinner here. The crab cakes were tasty. My ciopino was excellent. My wife’s fish & chips were very good. The service was superb. My only complaint is that the one cocktail that was listed on the menu that I wanted to try was not available.

    Made reservation months ahead. Friends with us who have not been to SF; thought they needed to eat at Scoma’s. Back room, no table cloths while main dining (for important guests?) had nice white table cloths. A bit disappointing. Do not plan to go back.

    One of our absolute best restaurants in SF. We always take our out of town guests here. They are equally impressed. The wait staff are very professional and personal. Last time our waitress told us of beautiful story of how cioppino came to be!

    Scoma’s Sausalito is a long-time favorite, but I was reluctant to try the one in SF because of its close proximity to the Pier 29 tourist trap. Wrong! Really excellent food, possibly best chowder ever, superb fresh seafood and veggies cooked to perfection, and all at a reasonable price. And you drive right to the door with their free valet service. This is now on my priority list in SF.

    Gus was a kind and patient server! For us, the menu highlights were the clam chowder and the white and red pasta linguini with clams. Although the price point is high, the food quality establishes why it is so.

    After reading some reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to book for dinner. We were not disappointed. Staff are professional and friendly. Food was exceptional. You need to book in advance. Definitely worth a visit.

    Visited here 13 years ago and recalled a much better dining experience. The interior looks the same and very dated. Fish came out dry and over cooked. For a seafood restaurant we expected higher quality than what was served.

    Chose Scoma's as had friends from Denmark. Have eaten there many times over the past 45 years but not in along while. Same decor, menu, same tired server attire...a step back into the 1970s. The food was good and the server was very good. Upon arrival the host barely greeted us, had a blank look on his face and took us to a horrible table setup for 6 people. When asked for a different table he only mumbled he did not have one even though the room was only half full. If you have never been to San Francisco before and want to eat at a classic SF Fisherman's Wharf fish restaurant then this is a good choice otherwise there are many much better choices in SF for a great fish dining experience.

    Spectacular dinner at Scomas. We had been here over 30 years ago and it is a classic and still great. The lazy mans Cioppino was fantastic, my dining mates had fish and chips and the halibut which were all excellent. Service was great and we actually saw Nicholas cage having dinner right near us. Didn't save room for dessert but the selection was nice.

    Food was fine - wine list was good but we were definitely a number not a guest. Right from the start it was obvious the staff wanted to move you through and out the door as quickly and efficiently as possible. I was still eating my entree when we were being asked for our main meal order - after being told - take your time in ordering your main. I had not finished eating either my entree or my main and my husbands plates were being cleared away. For the cost it is not a cheap evening so a little staff patience should be part of the evenings offering. Apparently not - though close attention was paid to making sure we left a tip - we were reminded no less than 3 times. Better places to visit in San Francisco can't recommend Scoma's.

    The service was great. Our waiter Elisabeth was great but food was not as good as pre pandemic. But the ambiance and service were great. Will go back for those reasons.

    Had a reservation and was seated 15 minutes late. The waiter was tremendous but the front maitre d was a joke. Kept telling me my table be ready in 2 minutes but took 15. After leaving the front matre d said nothing to us when leaving. Rude front man but Scomas food and servers are the best. Maitre d needs an attitude adjustment bigtime and I've been eating at Scomas for 30 years.

    I haven't been to Scoma's in years, but it was a wonderful experience. I loved that we could hear each other because the noise level was so quiet. All the food was outstanding and it was generous. Usually a pasta dish that has seafood has too much pasta and not enough seafood, but, this was not the case at Scoma's. Quality and ambience was outstanding.
