A great new restaurant on NE Broadway serving elevated Italian-inspired cuisine for the everyday person. Scholar is the place to come for pizza, pasta, or to enjoy some amaro! They're focusing on bringing upscale food and drinks to the neighborhood, using fresh ingredients and a constantly rotating menu to use what's available seasonally. Neighborhood gem moniker was built for Scholar. The place has positive energy. Well made coctails and thoughtful Italian wine choices punctuate the well constructed Italian spot. Food was simple and tasty. The buffalo chicken livers were particularly unusual and good. We'll be back

We had 6:15 reservations and there were many tables but by the time we left at 7:30 it was buzzing! The staff was friendly and accommodating. Loved the chicken livers. We will be back.

Delightful service, chilled out vibes, and excellent food. Incredibly accommodating to our party of four with two kids aged 7. A rare instance of a location that is perfect for a hip first date or an up-leveled early family dinner.

Dined here before a concert at the Moda Center. Delicious fresh pasta, tasty pizzas, and the fried gnocchi with sage aioli was amazing - we had to order a 2nd serving! Wine and cocktails were also on point, servers and bartender were friendly, attentive and welcoming.

Ambiance, service and drinks were all excellent. Food was... just good. We went for the Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe menu. They sat the whole restaurant at set reservation times, so every meal came out at the same time. When you charge higher end prices for dinner I expect at least one course to have that "Wow" factor, something special you can't get anywhere else. Everything was just ok, almost as it had been sitting for awhile before it was brought out. Maybe it was just the prix fixe, but we tried every dish available and weren't amazed. There is definitely better value in Portland.

I brought my daughter who is 9 for a pizza after her theater performance. The staff were super kind and she said it was her favorite pizza she’s had. I enjoyed the gnocchi and Buffalo chicken livers!

A comfortable atmosphere with exposed brink and soft lighting. My friend raved about the white pizza and I enjoyed my pasta. Portions are quite generous. Friendly, efficient service. We will recommend and go again.

The food was great, a bit too overpriced but still delicious. The glass candy drink was really delicious!! Service was professional and always around. I absolutely love the old world styling with a touch of modern- really sharp looking. Was really impressed by the wireless rechargeable usbC lamps.

The food was fabulous with a great selection. There were 3 of us and we split two pizzas and the Caesar salad. We also had the fried gnocchi which was delicious. Our waitress was very personable and made great recommendations. The ambience was good. We will come here again when back in the Portland area. Highly recommended!

This is a neighborhood place for us, and we've been twice recently. The first was a somewhat mixed experience -- the server was completely slammed, as they'd had some staff cancels, and it took a very long time for us to get either drinks or food. Nonetheless, the server was friendly and apologetic, and the food was good. The service issues were resolved on a second visit (which was on a Friday), and both the front of house person and our server were great. The menu is somewhat limited, with great pizza choices, plenty of vegetarian options, but only a couple of protein-forward choices. On a low carb diet, the menu can be a bit sparse. That said, I highly recommend this new iteration of that space (before it was Iconic and several other things). I hope they succeed as a neighborhood venue and expand the menu as custom allows.

Drinks extraordinary - made with passion and very tasty. Owner very attentive despite managing new employee and we enjoyed his attention and information. Noise level tough for us. Second seasoned server was great. Food bland and they were out of our first choice. Maybe still working out kinks. We wish them luck./

Wish the food here was better becasue the staff was lovely, great ambiance and delicious cocktails. Eggplant Parmesan was truly awful, underdone, chewy eggplant, fried gnocchi very bland, fall salad also bland, needed more dressing, pizza was fine, buffalo chicken livers were delicious, the best of all. We’ll go back, but just for a drink at the bar.

Second visit. Everything from the cocktails to the appetizers, pizzas and entrees were absolutely delicious! The menu is limited, which allows for super fresh ingredients. The pizza crust is on point and the flavors are superb. The service was outstanding and the ambiance is great! The lighting is perfect. We will be back!

Great place, attentive service, fine food and drink. We especially enjoyed the gnocchi and (of course) the pizza. Unique menu - Now that the weather has cooled, may we suggest adding a soup? The check was delivered in a book of haiku. Nice touch!

Appetizer was great! Kale Caesar salad and buffalo chicken livers were so tasty. However, the entrees were lackluster. Pasta wasn't al dente, parts of it were cold. Not a lot of meat in the Bolognese.

Happy to have this spot in our neighborhood - above average bar food, attractive space with a good vibe, friendly staff who are clearly proud of their offerings. We really enjoyed the pizza special with it's unusually good crust!
