Phenomenal as always
We had a wonderful time for a group dinner of 8 on New Years Eve. We all thought the food was wonderful, the servers and everyone were very nice and accommodating and it was a really great value! The place is adorable, a little tight since the place was a full house but we will definitely be going back!
Loved everything about it. Great food. Great vibe. Cozy and quiet.
Fantastic, creative food and wonderful variety of dishes. Atmosphere was rustic elegance, unique and lovely. I’ll go back regularly!
We really enjoyed our meal at Schillling. We were a bit disappointed when we arrive Sunday night, not realizing that they have a smaller menu on Sundays, but ended up all enjoyed our food and drink. They take reservations and are one of the only place open in Wall Street late on Sunday. I would go again.
The restaurant had a super homey vibe, with pillows lining the booths. Food was unique and delicious.
We had an early dinner reservation for 4 at 5pm on a Saturday. We ordered the shrimp ajillo and the ricotta crostini for appetizer. Sooooo good! We also had burgers with fries, the Wiener schnitzel and roasted chicken. We ordered a peach dessert and apple strudel. Everything was outstanding!!! Probably one of the best dinners we have ever had! Service was fantastic and we loved the ambiance of the place. Highly recommend this little gem!!!
Great night with friends. Good food. Special without being fussy or pretentious.
The food as always was top notch. However on this day, the main wave of seating come in at 12:30pm and service suffered because of it. Long wait times for food and service. Understaffed? Just don't be in a hurry when you go here. The dessert, apple strudel with nuts was small for $11, even by New York Standards. Of course I'll be back. Espresso at $2 made up for it.
We were surprised by how crowded and close together the tables were - even by New York standards. The food was just ok. My husband had Wiener schnitzel. I ordered the spaetzel, which sounded delicious, but was actually quite salty (and I love salt). Since we reall like Austrian food, and Schilling is in our neighborhood, we hoped to find a place we would enjoy regularly. We did not.
We have eaten here multiple times and each time is better! The brussel sprouts and the cauliflower dish were amazing!! Definitely going back for more.
Great place, attentive staff, solid menu, unique for NYC
I made a reservation for lunch for 4 people. We waited nearly 20 minutes to order then an additional 50 minutes for our food. Luckily, we had a flexible schedule.
We live close by and thought we had discovered our new weekly go-to dining place, but unfortunately our experience was pretty awful. The service was beyond lousy, the waiter was rude, arrogant and unwelcoming, I have rarely ever experienced a service that bad in NYC.
The food was good, even though I was disappointed that an Austrian restaurant would serve pork Schnitzel instead of veal - which is the meat of a typical Schnitzel. The portions are pretty small - quite opposite to what you would get in an Austrian restaurant, both for entrees as well as desserts.
The setting is really nice etc, but given how we were treated we unfortunately won’t come back - such a shame.
The food was horrible.
A weekly regular for us. Food is excellent. We have tried most everything and it’s terrific. We are particularly fond of the burger, chicken and schnitzel.
Very creative menu. Nice space. Excellent service. Suspect it is very busy in the Summer when the doors are open.
Good efficient service. Went for lunch. Portions were decent sized for lunch. Schnitzel and chick pea soup were very good.
Great food, good service, a little crowded, a little noisy, but not overwhelmingly so. A little pricey but I would return.
Warm comfortable atmosphere, very good German influenced food, nice staff. Tried it for the 1st time for lunch, and plan to go back.
We dined early on a Monday evening, so we had the restaurant to ourselves at first. Everything about the expetince was very good except that the menu is limited and there were no specials. But we all enjoyed our dinners.
Food was very tasty and creative. Server was outstanding! Really felt comfortable here
One of the best spots in the area! A really hidden gem. And Alana is an amazing server and host!
Aside from what has always been an excellent dining experience, our server A.J. was fantastic. He was not only efficient, but also extremely entertaining.
Great food , nice flavours ! We tried a lot of the vegan potions as sharing plates which worked very well ! We are not vegan but the menu was a delight .
Grapefruit beer was probably one of the best beers I’d ever tasted. Service was fantastic very knowledgeable and attentive
Needed a place not too far from the Museum of Jewish Heritage that would satisfy foodie relatives visiting from LA. We made 5:00 pm reservations because we were catching a show at the museum afterwards, so we had the place to ourselves for most of the meal. Food was outstanding: fresh and inventive without trying too hard. (Austrian inspired but on the light side; same owners as the popular Edi & the Wolf) Our server was helpful and cheery but not in our face. Even we jaded New Yorkers loved it. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Great experience at Schilling! Such quaint decor and flavorful food. We loved the cauliflower and the burger. Both mezcal cocktails were wonderful.
Great specialty cocktails, do a simple burger really well.
Met some clients here for lunch. Great spot to get seating for a large group. But the conversation was sectioned in 1/2 because of the long tables. 6 out of 8 of us got the Avocado Toast so it would be unfair to rate the menu. However, no vegan options but the soup which didn't work for a hot summer day. I heard the desserts were incredible though. The group ordered 3 and shared.
The service was great. Our table was ready ahead of our reservation so we were allowed to sit and wait. And we were not rushed during lunch.
Please reply to my e.mail of yesterday, as l cannot find a way to get gift certificates on line.
kitchen was slow and our food came out slowly (nd not at the same time). I think they were short staffed, because the diningroom was not that busy.
Went out for a coworkers birthday. It was NYC restaurant week- their meal choices were very interesting! Ordered the Romain lettuce lemon salad, Wienerschnitzel, and tiramisu ( honestly- the best tiramisu I have had in my life, especially for a German restaurant! ) The host was the waitress and bartender and that girl deserves a raise! She was the only person working at the time it opened til the time we left and it was a typically NYC lunch rush- she kept it together so perfectly- I give her props! Would defiantly good back for a Date Night or birthday dinner. Easy location too!
Went here for restaurant week and was not disappointed! The food was delicious and the service was great!
Food is excellent but service was a bit spotty. Desserts tasty but very small. We had to order them twice!
Very laid-back, which is both its strength and weakness. Service was a bit flaky at times, but that somehow echoed with the low-key, homey ambiance. Noise was ear-shattering at first until the restaurant went down to half occupancy. However, food is excellent, and staff is very friendly. We always enjoy dining at Schilling and its parent restaurant Edi & the Wolf. Only significant negative at Schilling is the noise level when the place is full.
Food was great. Apple strudel was sensational although they did forget we ordered it. Cocktails looked fantastic, although we stuck to wine which was fine. Service was chaotic and we ended up eatimg at the bar, even though we had a reservation for which we were early. Great food, let themselves down on services. They appear a bit confused as to whether they want to be a bar or restaurant. The place is a bit to small to do both. Minor point of note Wiener schnitzel is veal, this was pork but it was a good schnitzel nonetheless
Food was good but portions were ridiculously small. $20 for 4 oz. of salmon (the waitstaff confirmed the portion size after we debated internally amongst ourselves). $10 for one medium sized beet cut into 4 slices. Would have much preferred paying more money per plate and getting enough to eat. I can't recommend this place for a full meal, but would recommend for drinks/cocktails.
Excellent food & drinks. Cute, casual atmosphere.
Food and setup was good. In half empty restaurant table seated next to us with a kid watching loud television on a parents phone sat next to us.
