There wasn't a meal that wasn't excellent. Absolutely delicious, great decor! Great place to have lunch with coworkers or a friend, will certainly be returning.
I have long been a fan of Chef Frauneder since Seasonal and the duration of Edi and the Wolf’s existence. Having Schilling in the neighborhood is a godsend and always a wonderful experience. The food is consistently excellent. I go all the time and that should speak for itself!! With Blaue Gans closed there are no other options in the area. Thank goodness Schilling is not settling for second rate! It’s a first class meal in every sense!
Noise level was very loud, food was good, service good
Pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere for the neighborhood; felt welcoming and food was very good.
The broccoli kohlrabi salad was a small unspectacular appetizer. The best was the Schnitzel, but not served in a typical Viennese manner. The Spaetzele were flavorful but over cooked. One would appreciate more Austrian options. The restaurant, choice of wines and beers were excellent, service congenial, pleasant evening despite all.
Small portions for the price.
I've eaten here a few times. The lunch service tends to be rather slow, which I find unacceptable. On the other hand, service was much better when I came once for dinner. The food is fine but not spectacular. It's a cute space, but the restaurant is quite cold during the winter. I don't think I'll come back here anytime soon.
Food excellent. Shared with wife chicken liver spread and then wiener schnitzel. Both enough food for us to share. Delicious!
Had 4 wheat beers between us. Good buzz.
Before tip $76 for lunch.
Very cold on winter day so get far away from door and take extra sweater.
Beautiful restaurant but food is too heavy for me.
Kitchen from Central Europé, disguised in cosy and whimsical design.
Area in Financial District without competitors. Compared to a restaurant in Vienna ,average in quality and
Simple, scrumptious food. Small restaurant, recommend reserving a table if party is more than two-people.
Love Schilling, but it was cold! Not sure if the heat was working for 5:30 reservation.
The food (Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat, Gurkensalat, und die Kurbissuppe ) was excellent...perfectly done, great flavor, and accompanied by a friendly staff. Many thanks!
The food was delicious with Austrian favorites on the menu. Will definitely
Phenomenal as always
We had a wonderful time for a group dinner of 8 on New Years Eve. We all thought the food was wonderful, the servers and everyone were very nice and accommodating and it was a really great value! The place is adorable, a little tight since the place was a full house but we will definitely be going back!
Loved everything about it. Great food. Great vibe. Cozy and quiet.
Fantastic, creative food and wonderful variety of dishes. Atmosphere was rustic elegance, unique and lovely. I’ll go back regularly!
We really enjoyed our meal at Schillling. We were a bit disappointed when we arrive Sunday night, not realizing that they have a smaller menu on Sundays, but ended up all enjoyed our food and drink. They take reservations and are one of the only place open in Wall Street late on Sunday. I would go again.
The restaurant had a super homey vibe, with pillows lining the booths. Food was unique and delicious.
We had an early dinner reservation for 4 at 5pm on a Saturday. We ordered the shrimp ajillo and the ricotta crostini for appetizer. Sooooo good! We also had burgers with fries, the Wiener schnitzel and roasted chicken. We ordered a peach dessert and apple strudel. Everything was outstanding!!! Probably one of the best dinners we have ever had! Service was fantastic and we loved the ambiance of the place. Highly recommend this little gem!!!
Great night with friends. Good food. Special without being fussy or pretentious.
The food as always was top notch. However on this day, the main wave of seating come in at 12:30pm and service suffered because of it. Long wait times for food and service. Understaffed? Just don't be in a hurry when you go here. The dessert, apple strudel with nuts was small for $11, even by New York Standards. Of course I'll be back. Espresso at $2 made up for it.
We were surprised by how crowded and close together the tables were - even by New York standards. The food was just ok. My husband had Wiener schnitzel. I ordered the spaetzel, which sounded delicious, but was actually quite salty (and I love salt). Since we reall like Austrian food, and Schilling is in our neighborhood, we hoped to find a place we would enjoy regularly. We did not.
We have eaten here multiple times and each time is better! The brussel sprouts and the cauliflower dish were amazing!! Definitely going back for more.
Great place, attentive staff, solid menu, unique for NYC
I made a reservation for lunch for 4 people. We waited nearly 20 minutes to order then an additional 50 minutes for our food. Luckily, we had a flexible schedule.
We live close by and thought we had discovered our new weekly go-to dining place, but unfortunately our experience was pretty awful. The service was beyond lousy, the waiter was rude, arrogant and unwelcoming, I have rarely ever experienced a service that bad in NYC.
The food was good, even though I was disappointed that an Austrian restaurant would serve pork Schnitzel instead of veal - which is the meat of a typical Schnitzel. The portions are pretty small - quite opposite to what you would get in an Austrian restaurant, both for entrees as well as desserts.
The setting is really nice etc, but given how we were treated we unfortunately won’t come back - such a shame.
The food was horrible.
A weekly regular for us. Food is excellent. We have tried most everything and it’s terrific. We are particularly fond of the burger, chicken and schnitzel.
Very creative menu. Nice space. Excellent service. Suspect it is very busy in the Summer when the doors are open.
Good efficient service. Went for lunch. Portions were decent sized for lunch. Schnitzel and chick pea soup were very good.
Great food, good service, a little crowded, a little noisy, but not overwhelmingly so. A little pricey but I would return.
Warm comfortable atmosphere, very good German influenced food, nice staff. Tried it for the 1st time for lunch, and plan to go back.
We dined early on a Monday evening, so we had the restaurant to ourselves at first. Everything about the expetince was very good except that the menu is limited and there were no specials. But we all enjoyed our dinners.
Food was very tasty and creative. Server was outstanding! Really felt comfortable here
One of the best spots in the area! A really hidden gem. And Alana is an amazing server and host!
