My boyfriend and I went to see a show at pantages and decided on Sadie for dinner. I love Brussel sprouts and theirs looked delicious on the menu. They exceeded my expectations and everything else was also so yummy. We got the salmon, a salad and a pork chop special. Just wow.
Loved the indoor/outdoor dining set up. Entrance thru the parking lot, much nicer than the street view. Chicken with maple syrup and siracha was excellent. Flat bread with chorizo is also a must.
Portions area tad small but quite tasty. Definitely try the Brussel sprouts and the Panna Cota
The room is the real star here, but the service is very good, as is the food. Shareable plates with an eclectic selection of food. Favorite dish that we had was the sliders, but all was good.
Drinks were very good, too and an outstanding selection of spirits. Impressive bourbon/whiskey/scotch menu.
Food was unique and very well prepared. Selection was outstanding. All the dishes were top notch.
Service was great, although the place was 3/4 empty so the staff had a lot of free time. Still, I believe they would have been quite attentive regardless.
My only below average comment is about the bartending. I ordered a Rusty Nail, my usual. A few minites later the bartender brings me a Salty Dog...I notice the salted rim and I say, "Is that mine?" She looks at it and says, "Oh, I made a Salty Dog by mistake." She returns the drink and double checks me for the ingredents, I tell her "Scotch and Drambuie on ice", she replys "...whiskey and Drambuie!" She mixes another drink. Now she brings me a whiskey sour with a lime garnish...I take it. After that I order off the speciality cocktail menu and the drinks are great.
We ordered 6 dishes. Tuna was excellent. Sliders were good. Pizza was decent. Steak was good, but absolutely covered in butter. Black cod was terrible. Fried chicken was not good. The atmosphere was very nice though.
Yummy shareable foods and a chill/cool vibe!
Would recommend it for a night out with friends.
Sadie has a beautiful large outdoor covered Patio with beautiful lighting. Heaters are all around so there is no fear of getting cold. They also have a buzzing circular bar.
Wonderful food selection . Very close to the Dolby Theater.
Was there over a year ago and was beyond happy with the food, service and overall place. Was super excited to go back but was very very disappointed from the food and the service. I don't know what happened but it got much worse.
Good ambiance, great outdoor seating, delicious array of alcohol, food was aight, waiter was meh
I had my birthday dinner here and the whole staff treated me like a princess. The table was beautiful and everyone in my party (of 8) was able to hear each other speak and share conversation. Would highly recommend this place to anyone having an event. Food and drinks we're great, too.
The food was divine, the drinks were on point, and the service was impeccable. I plan on going back for the Duck Confit Tacos alone. Patrick, the GM, took great care of us, and helped make it a most memorable night for the wife and I.
Such a cute space, but the occupant doesn't do it justice. The service was slow, spotty, and inept. The food was passable. There was morose live music that totally did not fit the vibe that Sadie's trying to achieve. A truly odd evening. Not worth a second look.
Love this place! Thanks for such a great evening.
Went to Sadie's on a Friday night with a group of six, with our reservation right at the time of opening. We we promptly seated, and were able to order our drinks promptly. (wine selection was limited, but the list had excellent wines! Very happy with our drinks). Plates are usually shared here, and we ordered 6 entrees. We also let our hostess know when we had to leave to catch a show. Unfortunately, when that time came, we were still waiting for half of the food we ordered! Hence, we had to leave before folks were "full." To the restaurant's credit, they did not charge us. I don't know if this was just an "off" night for the kitchen staff, or an on-going issue.
Overall, the restaurant outside doesn't represent it's interior, which was fabulous! Very open, very comfortable. Moderate noise level, but we could still carry on a conversation. Our waitress was very nice, and the food we did receive was really good. I do plan on going back again, with the assumption that there was just a one-time issue with the kitchen. Nevertheless....this is what we experienced.
Sadie is a wonderful evening of dining and great food in Hollywood which is hard to find. The service is fantastic and the drinks very creative.
The whole place is just different than your average restaurant. You share the plates not like your usual everyone has their own entree. Other than that some plates were really salty and others were bland and flavor less.
Food was good. Extremely small portions and not worth the price.
The restaurant has excellent service and presentation but the food felt short. The steak was salty just as the chicken breast that were ordered. It has a nice environment but without good food then its an okay restaurant
We were going to a concert at the Dolby Theater and were looking for something different before hand. The restaurant call at 3:30 to confirm our Saturday night reservation...I told them we were going to show and needed to be out by 7:30. Thay noted and said it would be no problem.
We showed up at 6:05 for our 6:15 for our reservation, walked arount nuerous rooter and septic trucks, and entered the restaurant to the smell of sewage. They said the wouldn't be opening for at least an hour, if at all.
Really...you can call to confirm a cancellation but not call to say your closed? What makes it worse it is in an area that has few decent places to ea, and those are always filled. Memory of sewage would keep me from ever returing.
We came early on a Saturday night for my sisters birthday with my family. At first we were seated in a small dark booth that made reading the menu impossible. We asked to move to a table in the back and they kindly obliged. The lighting was better but outside it was quite loud with the music. We shared our appetizers and entrees. Everything was good but nothing amazing. It was a pleasant evening.
Great staff serving wonderful food. Mac and Cheese is awesome. Venue is perfect for live music and it really enhances the experience. Courtney Lemmon and Ryan were really incredible
My girlfriend and I love Sadie. We weren't aware of it until a few months ago and we had a great time there our first dinner and went again a few weeks later. It's a really nice, low key place to get dinner or lunch. It's a really great atmosphere and a cool bar area too! I highly recommend this restaurant.
We absolutely loved going here before seeing Phantom of the Opera at Pantages. Our waitress was truly one of the best and sweetest we have ever come across- she even brought us a surprise dessert before our show! I will be recommending this as THE restaurant to go to before a show, or anytime anyone is down in Hollywood. Beautiful scenery, fantastic bar (very 1920s, classic), great food and drinks, and the best customer service... Who could beat that!
Went Friday night to celebrate my birthday. Everyone was very generous with they birthday wishes which made the evening particularly special.
We shared the crispy pork belly which was awesome. The charred frizee was the perfect counterpoint to the rich pork. My husband had the crispy wild salmon which he enjoyed immensely. I had the chicken and waffle. I enjoyed it but it was a bit over-spiced (salty) for my taste. The sriracha maple syrup was superb but they were a bit stingy with the portion as they are the butter. Very short wine list.
Must haves: crispy pork belly, the s'mores (they brulee the marshmallow!) and several of the Kentucky ninjas.
I went for dineLA. The menu was great! We had Three ppl so we ordered every dish. everything was amazing and delicious. Great for larger groups or an intimate date. It has such a great vibe! Would highly suggest this hidden gem. I am taking my girlfriend out here next week.
We were on a tight timeline to go to the Magic Castle, server was ultra prompt and helpful.
Amazing happy hour deals!! Trade-off is that you have to sit indoors instead of their awesome outdoor dining area.
such a gem!! The bar inside is really spacious and the layout is really cool. Outside space is even better the floor is leveled off and there is a great stage where live performances go on during dinner. Cozy yet romantic and it the live music is just loud enough where you can have conversations going.
Sadie definitely has great ambience. We were welcomed automatically and then had some drinks. The bar was pretty empty but it was early in the night (around 7pm). The drinks reasonably priced and strong enough. I visited Sadie during DineLA week and the food was tasty. Interestingly enough, I found the appetizers (first and second courses) to be a lot better than the actual entree (third course). The dessert was absolutely delicious and I was surprised with the size of itI My boyfriend and I shared the peanut butter s'mores. But what I genuinely loved about Sadie was it's outdoor seating/lounge. It is very intimate but the space is a bit small. We sat on the patio/deck and it felt like I was on stage. But the staff were friendly, the food came out fairly quickly, and it has an old-time feel. I would definitely recommend it for small groups or for a date night.
I went to eat during the dine LA week and each course of the prix fixe menu was better than the last! You can't beat Sadie's amazing patio! It was sprinkling that night but still absolutely lovely. Highly recommend.
Heading to the The Pantages theater for a show, we came across Sadie to an early dinner before the show. The location is in the midst of gritty Hollywood, yet the restaurant is a hideaway gem. Once you enter the restaurant, you are transported into an oasis of tranquility, hip, and high quality food and service. Some in our party took advantage of the "Dine in LA" multi course menu, and some of us ordered off the regular menu. The food was superb, as was the service. The wait staff/bus boy service was especially attentive. I now have a new and long-lasting go-to restaurant in Hollywood. Highly recommended. (And if you go to Sadie in combination with seeing a show at The Pantages, they will knock 20% of the bill by showing them your theater ticket.)
Service was great! Food outstanding. We ordered the gnocchi as an appetizer which was very tasty! The chicken and waffle was the best dish of the evening. The sliders was really, really good. The miso black cod was also really, really good. The duck breast was a little under done (I know it should be prepared that way but we like it a little more well done). A DJ plays tunes during dinner. It's party/dance music which I liked a lot. Remixes of old tunes by the Doors, Fleetwood Mac & Genesis was great. Our entrees took a while to come out but I think it was because everyone ordered at the same time. Wasn't a problem for us because we didn't have anywhere else to go to that evening. The outdoor lounge was beautiful and comfortable. We really enjoyed our evening!
The food and drinks are fabulous. We love the covered outdoor space. It is pretty, comfortable and tables are not on top of each other, and the music (a live DJ the night we were there) was not too loud so you could talk. The space would be perfect for an event.
Tasty fried chicken and mac and cheese. Ribs were ok. Service solid and a cool atmosphere. Overall a really cool spot that has it all - good food, good service, and cool ambiance. Enjoy!
3 of us went the other evening and sat in the outside patio. a good time was had by all. the hostess was charming, the drinks delicious and the food california comfort. would suggest the duck breast and a dessert for sure. ok wine by the glass. this is not a destination restaurant but certainly a well-priced and good vibe spot. you will come away happy.
Service was excellent, although it was a Tuesday night and there were only three tables occupied. The food was very good, but not up to all the hype. A bit pricey for the dish size for most dishes. There were three of us and we shared:
1. Brussel Sprouts-Served with diced apples, best dish we had
2. Beet Salad-Excellent and surprisingly large portion
3. Beef Sliders-Very good
4. Fried Chicken-Unfortunately, the waffle and chicken were both dry, chicken was good, but not great. Our server guided us toward this dish as it is their signature dish. We should have stayed with our initial choice, the duck
5. Miso Cod-Delicious, however, there were about 2 bits on the plate with some bok-choy. Not enough for one person and not worth the price
This being said, we had a very nice dinner and enjoyed the food.
We found this place on the Pantages website and took a chance since we wanted something close before the show. It was fantastic!! Personable friendly staff and service and the food was awesome. We have been telling people about it ever since. We will definitely go again. Atmosphere was fine for casual, but could also be great for intimate romantic dinner, fancy dining or just having fun with a group. Recommendation is a go!!
Went for the second time with a party of four. No one had anything worth commenting on. The charcuterie plate was dismal - 2 meats and one tiny wedge of cheese for $16 is ridiculous.
They seem to be concentrating on the bar mostly and need to up their food game. Would be except able if the prices were not so high.
I took my friend here for her birthday before seeing a show at The Pantages Theatre just down the street, and everything was great. I loved the ambiance and decor; we were seated right at our reservation time, and the food was excellent. We had an earlier reservation, so it could be much louder later in the evening, but it was pretty nice and quiet while we were there, and we finished with enough time to catch our show, so service was on point.
The sweet hostess went out of her way to accommodate us, but the waiter was forgetful and NEVER checked on us. I will also never understand why bartenders in Los Angeles don't know how to mix a simple whiskey and coke with lime. Once again, I ended up with a tall glass of coke, a little bit if Johnny Walker, and no lime. It's a cocktail...not a soft drink. Put it in a short glass! The food, however, was excellent and the ambiance great. As usual, it's over priced, but what are you going to do?!
