We had a 9:30 reservation and we were not seated until 10:15. We were told this would be made up to us with something being sent to the table, nothing was ever sent. Food was very good the service was not.
If you like a lot of food this is not for you. Even my French wife who is used to French sized portions said “whoa this is an entree??”. Tiny tiny portions. Come on it’s pasta (albeit excellent pasta), make the size a little bigger.
Delicious! I had the tuna starter followed by the branzino. Yummy! They give you stromboli to start which was also delish!! My coworker had teh Cavitelli whcih he also loved!
Best restaurant on this visit
It is hard to find good, authentic Italian food, in my opinion. Scarpetta delivered. I had the lobster with spinach pasta. The dish was full of chunks of lobster and the pasta was clearly made fresh and tasted wonderful. The restaurant was a bit loud, because it was very busy. The decor is well done, and if you happen to have a seat that faces the wall, at least they have huge mirrors, so you can still see the entire dining room. One thing that is a negative is that if you are only a party of two it seems you always get sat at a tiny table that shares a bench seat with other parties. It is not pleasant to feel like you are crammed in with strangers and its also very hard to have a conversation or a romantic dinner when you are basically sitting with strangers. I guess this is just the way it is when you are trying to get as many tables as possible in a restaurant but it feels like parties of two get punished. Anyway, aside from that the food was great as was the service.
The food was excellent, as was the wine. Once at the table, the service was good, if slightly intrusive —too many different people checking in a little too often. The check-in process, though, was chaotic, and the front desk staff were both officious and disorganized. The bar area in which we were made to wait was very noisy and crowded, both with patrons and with staff rushing to and from the dining room.
Outstanding in every way!!! We loved it and will return again and again!!!
The food was delicious
I had such a great experience that I went back with a larger group of friends for dinner 3 days later. Michael the manager is amazing at what he does and is a great host. we will be back weekly to have drinks at the bar and keep introducing friends to Scarpetta.
Thanks

I’ve been a regular at Scarpetta at Meatpacking. This was my time at the new Madison location. I went for lunch to celebrate my birthday with co-workers. I was thrilled to see that neither the food quality nor the service had changed or suffered. I love Scarpetta. I love it’s balance between beautiful, clean presentation and modern approach while preserving some classic tones and flavors. It is a meal that is satisfying to all senses. Everything tastes flawless and looks beautiful. The bread basket is out of this world. Every piece is fresh and delightful. The eggplant tapenade that comes with the bread basket is wonderful. I had the tuna-sushi appetizer. Absolutely beautiful, delicate dish. Melt in your mouth tuna with carrots and micro greens. Then I had to go with one of the best dishes that Scarpetta has and will ever offer: the spaghetti with basil & tomato. That chewy toothsome consistency makes that simple dish exquisite.
The chocolate cake we shared was clearly fresh and had not spent days in the fridge (which unfortunately is often the case with little chocolate cakes in many restaurants.)
It had perfect flavor, perfect sugar content, perfect consistency. The caramel ice cream that it came with was divine.
Everyone else loved their dishes. Our server was wonderful. Scarpetta is fantastic and I would always go back and bring family and friends.
Great food, we love the spaghetti, never fails. New location as good as the old
Great time and very attentive and friendly service.
It was very good I will be back tomorrow
Used to be great the new location is not nearly as nice, food wasn’t good and the bathrooms are a mile away we won’t be back
Service was poor and food was mediocre. I reminded the receptionist several times about celebrating a birthday yet dessert arrived without acknowledgement. Far far better restaurants to choose from.
Great as usual.
Scarpetta is one of those restaurants that you always look forward to dining at. We first discovered Scarpetta during our honeymoon in Montauk. Scarpetta Beach was part of the Gurney Resort. The service, ambiance and food was beyond expectation. At this point, we have tried almost everything on the menu and we couldn't find a dish that we didn't like. Every dish was thought out and carefully prepared. Even the bread basket is something to write home about.
Since our honeymoon experience at Scarpetta Beach in the Montauk, we have been going to Scarpetta in the city for our anniversary. Have NEVER been disappointed. By far, one of our favorite restaurants in the country.
We loved our dinner at scarpetta!! The service was beyond amazing and the food was insane. Pasta was a MUST and I don’t eat carbs!!! It’s a cool vibe with an amazing professional bar scene. It is connected to the James hotel that also has an amazing lounge bar/club in the basement.
Great food and drinks
First time I have been to this location. Glad that the food is still so good! The restaurant is beautiful, service was good but we felt a bit rushed because they were clearing the plates a bit fast. Happy to see that they still have the Stromboli in the bread basket! Started with the beet salad and the mixed green salad. Shared 2 pastas (Spaghetti and Cavatelli). Both were outstanding! Highly recommend everything on this menu! I will be back!!
Overrated food. Service was mixed
Not only is the restaurant stunning, but the food was absolutely incredible. The spaghetti is totally worth the hype. Incredible evening, can’t wait to go back!!
Amazing all around!
My entree was room temperature. When they brought it back it was on an extremely hot plate but again it was room temperature. Disappointing. Ambiance was very pretty. Service was attentive yet fish not cooked through as chefs like to serve it at room temperature leaves a lot to be desired.
Literally my favorite restaurant in New York. Have been coming here for about eight years and the new location in nomad is actually an even better experience then 14th St.If you have a chance to visit Scarpetta in Miami or LA I highly recommend it as well. Service is impeccable and the food in comparable.
We had a reservation for 9:30 pm and were not seated till 10:40pm, party of 2. Nothing was done to rectify or smooth over the situation. The appetizers ( tuna crude and octopus ) were excellent. The tomato and basil pasta was phenomenal. The main dishes were just average ( black cod and branzino ). The desert ( lemon cake ) was also nothing special. The service was good however the completely forgot my coffee. I guess they were tired as we ended up eating dinner at midnight.
Amazing food and service
Absolutely exquisite!
Amazing place!
Amazing food and service. Definitely worth the $$
I was a big fan of the West village location. However, they relocated onto Madison Avenue and the service is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Made a reservation at 8:30 and did not get seated until 9:15. Our server was rude, blatantly ignored us, and did not give us bread for 20 minutes. The food was great as always, but I would not recommend this place for a visit.
Was great from start to finish. A little on the pricey side.
Food was amazing, the hosts are lackluster
Best spaghetti ever! Our waiter, Ben, made our night!!
Great dining experience!!
Easter Brunch
Food was delicious and well-prepared but was inconsistent from what was described on the menu. This was explained that it was their first time doing brunch. Service was a little spotty, but overall was pleasant. We loved the live music. We would go back.
This is my 3rd visit (first at new location), and every time I go, I think it can't possibly be as delicious as I remember. And then, it is! Always order the spaghetti with tomato sauce (I know it sounds silly, but it's the best you'll ever have), and any of their stuffed pastas. The duck and foie gras ravioli were insane, and I could have eaten a hundred of the short rib agnolotti. Pasta portion sizes are just hefty enough, without being too much, and it's a great place to share lots of plates.
Note on service: they were very attentive to my husband's nut allergy, which we appreciated. So many restaurants make you feel like a burden for dietary restrictions, so it's always a relief to feel welcomed and taken care of.
Food was ok, but service was not good for an expensive restaurant.
Service and ambiance were excellent! Food overall is good but spaghetti is overrated. Prices are high for what you get and overall value is not worth it unless you just want to experience a FN chef restaurant.
