In a Greek revival townhouse on the edge of the Meatpacking District, LDV Hospitality brings a deft touch and unwavering passion to creating food that is unexpected and soulful. An Italian expression that means “little shoe” – or the shape bread takes when used to soak up a dish — Scarpetta represents the pure pleasure of savoring a meal down to its very last taste. Amongst many accolades, Scarpetta NYC received a three-star review from The New York Times and a nomination for Best New Restaurant in the country from the James Beard Foundation in 2009.

Scarpetta Ratings and Reviews
The food was absolutely delicious! It far exceeded our expectations. The polenta and cauliflower appetizer were perfect in taste and presentation. The spaghetti with tomato and basil was out of this world!! Definitely in the top 5 meals we have eaten! We will definitely be returning the next time we are in the city.
We’ve been coming to Scarpetta for years.
We made a reservation weeks in advance for a Wednesday night dinner.
When we arrived, we then had to wait an additional 45 minutes to be seated (even though we had reservations).
If we didn’t have reservations I would understand the wait, but we made reservations weeks in advance — 45 minutes to wait in a small space was a bit much.
Then, we were extremely explicit to say we were vegetarian. We started to eat the bread only to find ham inside (we are Jewish, totally not ok for us to eat pork).
Food is always good but this past experience was beyond terrible for us.
The service was extremely attentive. The flavors held our interest and kept us looking forward. My only issue was the layout of the space. As a long time opentable user, I have grown accustomed to a strategic seating placement even when dining at hottest spot. Even though we were seated at a window, I'm interested in the space not the sidewalk. I never got the chance to see anymore than the bar area. This caused us to eat quickly and only spend about 30% of what we might have if we were sat closer to the heart of the space. Instead we had drinks and dessert elsewhere.
We had an excellent dinner at Scarpettas. The service was excellent and comfortable, welcoming and not stuffy. The food was delicious . The spaghetti, octopus and fish entrees were all excellent. The dessert was outstanding, especially the Coconut Panna cotta! I have to find that recipe to make! It was incredible! We will definitely return when we come back to NY!
The restaurant is lovely, the tables are spaced far enough apart that you don't feel like you need to raise your voice, and the waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive. It would have been a lovely evening had I not bit into my $60 appetizer (I was splurging on the black truffles) and found a long hair in it. Needless to add that was my last bite of the evening. While the manager came over and offered his apologies and refilled my wine glass, the evening was ruined. In fairness, my husband's dinner was very good and hair-free. I will not be going back.
Scarpetta is a staple go- to spot. I sent my parents and their best friends here last night and they haven't stopped raving about how good everything was. My dad is a tough critic and he said it was one of the best dinners he's ever had. Great place, amazing food and spectacular service!
This was our first time dining at Scarpetta and I was very impressed. The food was incredible and the server was very attentive. He explained the highlights of the menu and made some recommendation. The polenta was the best I've ever had. I would skip the cocktails and go for a classic glass of wine, the polomas were not the best.
This was the fourth time we have been to Scarpetta. The food was as good as always, but this time it was so loud we had trouble carrying on a conversation with 4 people at the table. The table was not ready when we arrived so we had to wait about 1/2 hour after our reservation time for the table. They were sorry and tried to compensate us with some complimentary pastas, but honestly we would have preferred just getting a discount. The extra food wasn't necessarily a great idea. We will go back, but hopefully the next time it won't be as loud.
We LOVE this place so when OpenTable gave us a $100 gift card we jumped at the chance to try Scarpetta in NYC. The waiter was not too happy we were paying with a gift card so the second I showed him the voucher on my phone he did not feel like giving us much attention. We did not really care though because we were enjoying the atmosphere and it was our first time out together in a really long time.
Now for the food: SPAGHETII ALL DAY LONG. My husband and I both got it. It is our favorite. The short rib appetizer is pretty incredible as well.
They provide bread for you with a few different spreads which are also SO delicious.
The food came out and we were in and out in about an hour.
This is a perfect romantic date spot.
It was a wonderful evening starting with drinks at the bar. We had a table in the bar area which was less noisy than the inside dining area. We had a wonderful server who was attentive and friendly. Starting with the appetizers braised octopus and braised short ribs which were delicious. We had the spaghetti & tomato basil and farfalle w/sweetbreads. The pasta is perfectly done. Since it was my date's birthday, we were surprised with a dessert. The end to a wonderful dinner.
I'm pretty finicky about Italian food, but Scarpetta can really dish it out. My dining partner and I each had an app, a pasta, and an entree. There was no overlap so I got to eat three dishes, and taste three others. There was not a stinker in the bunch. We also indulged in their cocktail menu and wine list. The cocktails were very well done. Even standard cocktails like a Paloma were given a Scarpetta twist that made them more enjoyable. The service, too, was right on target. We told them about about a nut allergy at the beginning, and they were knowledgeable about what would be problematic. They also knew exactly what nuts could be omitted or placed on the side. All told, the food was excellent, and the drinks and the service were flawless.
The food was excellent. We had seared scallops and cauliflower to start, followed by their signature spaghetti with tomato sauce and Brussel sprouts. The service was very attentive, but not overwhelming. We sat in the front section of the restaurant, which was really the bar. It was way too noisy. We couldn’t hear our waitress and she couldn’t hear us either. I assume the back is quieter. I was surprised that we got sat at the bar considering we had a reservation. I would definitely come again but I would insist on sitting away from the bar.
We ordered drinks immediately after being seated and they did not arrive until after our appetizers were served .Both the maitre d and the waiter apologized but I was quite surprised when the round of drinks were not taken off our bill or a dessert was offered because of the inconvenience
