Amongst many accolades, Scarpetta NYC received a three-star review from The New York Times and a nomination for Best New Restaurant in the country from the James Beard Foundation in 2009.

Scarpetta Ratings and Reviews
Second time in a month. Once before the holidays, once after. Enzo is the best. The three of us shared appetizers and a double pasta second course. Awesome!
Each had a different entree and no complaints. Fish entrees were creative as was a perfectly cooked lamb dish.
Enzo adds a bit of “old school” ( which is great ) to a great vibe!
Only downside ( if you call it one ) is that the music was way loud adding to a noisy room. Turning it dow just a bit won’t hurt the energy of the place!!!
Amazing food; plates are somewhat small so I recommend an appetizer and or dessert. The chocolate cake is one of the best I’ve ever had. They’re known for their spaghetti (it’s incredible) and we also had the short ribs pasta, which I was very impressed by. Will absolutely go again. Service was attentive and very kind.
Dining at Scarpetta was a disappointment. Made reservations because wanted a good Italian meal and this did not meet the standard. The food was mediocre, the pasta overcooked, the capretto meat was very tough, the Colorado lamb had no taste, and the high price did not justify the quality. Service was attentive and the ambiance nice.
Because the negative experience was not limited to one dish, we would not go back.
We found this on open table and loved the menu. It was delicious!! Hand made pastas. We shared a market salad and two pasta dishes - the squid ink tagliolini and the duck and foie gras ravioli. The ravioli was decadent. We were still a little hungry and dessert sounded amazing to me but we decided to try another spot for variety. Should have stayed for the flourless chocolate cake. I would go back and would definitely recommend.
Had wanted to done here for a while. While on a trip I was able to make it. It wasn’t that busy shortly after opening but about halfway through our meal it started to get busy which was around 6:30 or so probably. Overall the waiter was friendly, service was good, food was good. I think I had slightly higher expectations of the food than we received but that could be my fault. I really enjoyed the decor and building. It was one of my favorite parts of the experience.
Some of the best scallops I had was here, the dessert that I got, double baked lemon cake, they used goat milk for the milk jam.. which I did not like and wish they described on the menu. Goat milk is not for everyone.
The spaghetti, had so much basil which I love, but couldnt really taste any other flavors. The tuna wrap appetizer, was a little bland and needed more of the truffle mushroom sauce.
The food was absolutely delicious! It far exceeded our expectations. The polenta and cauliflower appetizer were perfect in taste and presentation. The spaghetti with tomato and basil was out of this world!! Definitely in the top 5 meals we have eaten! We will definitely be returning the next time we are in the city.
We’ve been coming to Scarpetta for years.
We made a reservation weeks in advance for a Wednesday night dinner.
When we arrived, we then had to wait an additional 45 minutes to be seated (even though we had reservations).
If we didn’t have reservations I would understand the wait, but we made reservations weeks in advance — 45 minutes to wait in a small space was a bit much.
Then, we were extremely explicit to say we were vegetarian. We started to eat the bread only to find ham inside (we are Jewish, totally not ok for us to eat pork).
Food is always good but this past experience was beyond terrible for us.
The service was extremely attentive. The flavors held our interest and kept us looking forward. My only issue was the layout of the space. As a long time opentable user, I have grown accustomed to a strategic seating placement even when dining at hottest spot. Even though we were seated at a window, I'm interested in the space not the sidewalk. I never got the chance to see anymore than the bar area. This caused us to eat quickly and only spend about 30% of what we might have if we were sat closer to the heart of the space. Instead we had drinks and dessert elsewhere.
We had an excellent dinner at Scarpettas. The service was excellent and comfortable, welcoming and not stuffy. The food was delicious . The spaghetti, octopus and fish entrees were all excellent. The dessert was outstanding, especially the Coconut Panna cotta! I have to find that recipe to make! It was incredible! We will definitely return when we come back to NY!
The restaurant is lovely, the tables are spaced far enough apart that you don't feel like you need to raise your voice, and the waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive. It would have been a lovely evening had I not bit into my $60 appetizer (I was splurging on the black truffles) and found a long hair in it. Needless to add that was my last bite of the evening. While the manager came over and offered his apologies and refilled my wine glass, the evening was ruined. In fairness, my husband's dinner was very good and hair-free. I will not be going back.
