An Italian expression that means “little shoe” – or the shape bread takes when used to soak up a dish — Scarpetta represents the pure pleasure of savoring a meal down to its very last taste. Amongst many accolades, Scarpetta NYC received a three-star review from The New York Times and a nomination for Best New Restaurant in the country from the James Beard Foundation in 2009.

Love this restaurant!! It has a great vibe, amazing service and delicious food! The Seville downstairs is an awesome after dinner spot!
I took a client here and we actually weren’t even able to stay at the restaurant because they notified us after sitting down that their grill wasn’t working and we couldn’t order anything pretty much besides pasta (my client is gluten free and this wouldn’t work). I’m disappointed because i understand things happen but i should have been notified of this beforehand or at least when i originally got to the restaurant.
The food was extremely bland. Very disappointed.
Had reservation for 7:30 PM, got seated at 8:05. I requested to see the manager and he never showed up.
Food selection was limited but the food overall was tasty. Service was not the best and there was a minor annoyance with the service. The music felt totally off for the restaurant and was oddly loud and annoying. The pricing was atrocious for what was offered.
I was a bit disappointed in Scarpetta. It is clearly more a restaurant that's about the scene more than about the food. We waited 30 minutes for a table (after arriving on time for our reservation). We were put into a very small table, and then waited a while before we were approached for drinks or food. The waiter we had was very friendly and nice, and we wanted to like him! The problem was he forgot our drinks, took forever to take our order, and get the check, and then pick up the check... The only thing that wasn't slow was the pace the food came out. So the experience overall was extremely bizarre. We probably waited all in over an hour for things like our table, to order, get the bill. But the meal itself was likely only 40 minutes because they practically threw the food at us. Not sure if I'd recommend it. Good food, but not the best experience.
Awesome venue, everyone enjoyed the food, service and looking forward to coming back.
We had a booking for 9 pm and they made us wait 30 minutes till our table was ready. There isn't space to wait so you are crowded at the door being pushed out of the way. For the price of the food.... $35 for a small pasta dish, it was really disappointing to have to wait. The hostess was rude too and wouldn't give us any updates. The food was good but as expected but the design of the place is poor for a restaurant of this caliber! It used to be better a few years ago, I was really disappointed!
Terrible experience. The hostess is the rudest person in nyc.
New space is beautiful even if we were sat in the bar area which was quite noisy. Staff was very nice but not effective as we asked 4 times for more bread, instructed them that we needed to be out by a specific time (not adhered to), and hard to find the waitress. Food was good but not as good as I remembered it from its former place.
The food was absolutely delicious and the venue is beautiful. Can’t wait to come back again soon. The service was excellent as well!
We came here to celebrate birthday. FABULOUS fun atmosphere. Excellent service, FANTASTIC food. Drinks were over priced, but good. Have traveled the world for great food. This place was not disappointing.
Great service. Very loud. Night time there would not be good for business meetings or conversations. Difficult to hear each other. This could also be the time we chose (8PM). Drinks were fantastic. Will return maybe just for drinks as apposed to dinner.
Waited 45 minuted before getting seated. Manager only attended to modelesque figures and was unattentive and unapologetic. The table that got seated way after us and waited less got free champagne and excellent service while we were constantly treated with rash rudeness and abrupt mannerisms. Is it because we were not 8 ft tall and adorned with jewels that night? The food was also quite rushed and the quality did not meet my previous visits here. We were in the room on the inside, where the noise was above average. Horrible experience.
Food and experience is wonderful - one of my favorite restaurants in NYC.
Our server Fables was great.
I went to Scarpetta for my husbands birthday. It was very loud and the tables were very tight to the point we had to climb over each other’s chair to use the bathroom. The waitress was aweful and unpolished for this level of a restaurant. We had to ask for bread three time and it took 20 minutes. The appetizers were served to the wrong people and we all had to exchange plates. Even though it was on our reservation we had to tell our server to bring a candle on the dessert. We had to ask for grated cheese on our pasta and then I had to wave the server down for the bill. Once she gave me the bill she forgot about it and it remained on the table until after we left. It was very loud and we could hardly hear each other unless we were sitting right next to the person we were speaking to. It was an expensive dinner, the portions were pretty but tiny, and the service did not reflect the quality of the food. I would not go back and I would not tell friends to go.
I had the braised short ribs the were chewy.
I have had this many times usually is perfect
My main was the cod it was pink in the middle, I should have sent back but too disgusted at that point
This is sentinel time I have had undercooked fish there in last year
Food was okay. TERRIBLE service. Everyone there is extremely rude and feel entitled, it was like they were doing me a favor by serving me. From the hostess (minus a very nice african american girl), to the server, it was just awful. And I'm a New Yorker... lol
We came on time and waited half of hour for table.
Food was good.
Good service. Nice place but food was average. Not a place we’d recommend to a foodie.
I hate to do this because this is my favorite restaurant in NY and I go there a lot. But tonight the food was a little off- the yellowtail could not have been fresh. I didn’t finish it. To be extra nitpicky the butter was served hard as if it had been refrigerated at too cold a temperature for a long time- it’s supposed to be very soft and whipped. The little things start giving this institution a bit of a factory feel as Conant extends his winning brand across multiple cities. They all suffer from an ever so slight inattention to detail that never, ever, troubled the 14th street original. I do hope they get back to the exacting brand standards.
Celebrated our first anniversary together here - food, service, and ambiance were amazing!! Couldn’t have asked for a better night.
Front host was very rude about honoring main room reservation. No reason to come back to this restaurant as there are 100’s more with friendly hosts!
Birthday dinner. Appreciated the complimentary dessert
Came for dinner with a business partner friend. The food, service and ambiance were top notch. I ordered short rib pasta which was some of the most delicious pastas I have ever had. My friend had pasta with crab meat which he also liked. Upscale crowd and terrific ambiance. Totally recommend!
Overrated, ultra loud, bad service and food was not great.
Had a wonderful meal.... if you haven’t tried this flat iron classic you should ...!
Consistently good, pasta’s are a must.
Well located, warm and sophisticated dining , awesome prix fix lunch menu. Great food, great ambiance.
Food and service were great!
Prices were reasonable
The place is absolutely gorgeous. Subdued and elegant. The reception staff was somewhat cold. The food was delicious except for their main pasta dish which was unbelievably over cooked. Our server Leo could be a little pushy but was very attentive and got us a reasonably priced bottle of an ice Tuscan wine. All in all a good experience that could be tweaked here md there to make it an exceptional dinner. Work in progress.
Worst Italian food ever
Service sub par, server knew nothing about menu or wine, sub par, overpriced, and disappointing experience . Not exactly a fine dining experience.
Great service and excellent food
Great food and great service. Too noisy by the bar but the ambiance was great
