Scarpetta Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time dining at Scarpetta and I was very impressed. The food was incredible and the server was very attentive. He explained the highlights of the menu and made some recommendation. The polenta was the best I've ever had. I would skip the cocktails and go for a classic glass of wine, the polomas were not the best.
This was the fourth time we have been to Scarpetta. The food was as good as always, but this time it was so loud we had trouble carrying on a conversation with 4 people at the table. The table was not ready when we arrived so we had to wait about 1/2 hour after our reservation time for the table. They were sorry and tried to compensate us with some complimentary pastas, but honestly we would have preferred just getting a discount. The extra food wasn't necessarily a great idea. We will go back, but hopefully the next time it won't be as loud.
We LOVE this place so when OpenTable gave us a $100 gift card we jumped at the chance to try Scarpetta in NYC. The waiter was not too happy we were paying with a gift card so the second I showed him the voucher on my phone he did not feel like giving us much attention. We did not really care though because we were enjoying the atmosphere and it was our first time out together in a really long time.
Now for the food: SPAGHETII ALL DAY LONG. My husband and I both got it. It is our favorite. The short rib appetizer is pretty incredible as well.
They provide bread for you with a few different spreads which are also SO delicious.
The food came out and we were in and out in about an hour.
This is a perfect romantic date spot.
It was a wonderful evening starting with drinks at the bar. We had a table in the bar area which was less noisy than the inside dining area. We had a wonderful server who was attentive and friendly. Starting with the appetizers braised octopus and braised short ribs which were delicious. We had the spaghetti & tomato basil and farfalle w/sweetbreads. The pasta is perfectly done. Since it was my date's birthday, we were surprised with a dessert. The end to a wonderful dinner.
I'm pretty finicky about Italian food, but Scarpetta can really dish it out. My dining partner and I each had an app, a pasta, and an entree. There was no overlap so I got to eat three dishes, and taste three others. There was not a stinker in the bunch. We also indulged in their cocktail menu and wine list. The cocktails were very well done. Even standard cocktails like a Paloma were given a Scarpetta twist that made them more enjoyable. The service, too, was right on target. We told them about about a nut allergy at the beginning, and they were knowledgeable about what would be problematic. They also knew exactly what nuts could be omitted or placed on the side. All told, the food was excellent, and the drinks and the service were flawless.
The food was excellent. We had seared scallops and cauliflower to start, followed by their signature spaghetti with tomato sauce and Brussel sprouts. The service was very attentive, but not overwhelming. We sat in the front section of the restaurant, which was really the bar. It was way too noisy. We couldn’t hear our waitress and she couldn’t hear us either. I assume the back is quieter. I was surprised that we got sat at the bar considering we had a reservation. I would definitely come again but I would insist on sitting away from the bar.
We ordered drinks immediately after being seated and they did not arrive until after our appetizers were served .Both the maitre d and the waiter apologized but I was quite surprised when the round of drinks were not taken off our bill or a dessert was offered because of the inconvenience
Perfect fresh pasta sums this place up. Every time the pasta is fresh and full of flavor as is the sauce. I had the scallops for an appetizer and we shared some spaghetti at the table. The halibut was also cooked to perfection as was the flavorful puree and garnish veggies. Do not skip out on dessert. The chocolate cake with gelato and coffee finished the meal perfectly. The service is top notch from the hostess, waiters, maitre'd and management all made us feel at home. Great place and I always find a way to eat here while I am in town.
Incredibly poor start to the reservation with the table a good 30 mins behind our scheduled time. Walk ins were somehow seated before us. The restaurant tried to make up with an app and desert on the house after we blew up regarding the delays, but candidly it was too little too late. A great night had already been ruined with such poor service from the hosts and bar at the start of the night.
I was really disappointed by this restaurant . I took my family here for my mother's birthday and was really disappointed by the service and food . The attention to detail was not there and our food came out cold . We ordered sparkling water but the waiter kept on refilling our glasses with tap water even though we told him not to . They just didn't care .
This restaurant is excellent. The food was outstanding. The only caveats are that there was a reluctance to seat us until all 6 were present (there were 5 of us). They agreed to do so after we registered concern. The wine list is spectacular, as are the prices. They need to have a far better balanced wine list in terms of different pricing levels. And the noise levels were on the high side; but the vibe was great
Truly exceptional. The polenta is the best I've ever had. Risotto... absolute perfection. Romanesco was delicious. Desserts were not too small, not too large... were perfectly prepared and presented. The panna cotta with guava soup is an absolute must-have. Cheesecake made with goat cheese is a wonderful departure from a more traditional offering. Service was impeccable and very attentive, but not overbearing. Food service was well timed. Highly recommend this restaurant. 2nd time I've visited. Will be back again and again!
The food is amazing, the noise is too much. They have music going on like a bar scene and everyone have to speak loud over the music. We did not like that. We thought it was fine dining. The food is definitely fine dining, the Servers is well informed...however the noise is too much
I went here for the seafood. Fresh and well seasoned but most importantly - Delicious! The staff is attentive and very nice. Although it was very crowded we did not feel rushed or ignored. Good vibe mixed fun with some business. Highly recommend this restaurant and will defiantly return.
We went to Scarpetta and had a delicious meal and great ambiance. We were fortunate enough to score a table on the patio and it was a perfect patio night! Geno took care of us in a professional manner; we ordered an appetizer of a caprese nature. They also bring out a "appetizer" of delish bread and cheese, jam, etc. I had the spaghetti and spouse had the shortrib tortellini; a real treat! Our Only wish is that the glasses of wine weren't as pricey; but overall for a super nice dinner in the Chelsea area; we highly recommend it.
