Italian
An Italian expression that means “little shoe” – or the shape bread takes when used to soak up a dish — Scarpetta represents the pure pleasure of savoring a meal down to its very last taste. Amongst many accolades, Scarpetta NYC received a three-star review from The New York Times and a nomination for Best New Restaurant in the country from the James Beard Foundation in 2009.

Fantastic service with a great ambience. We had family style with the scallop appetizer and the braised short rib as well as the classic spaghetti. Everything was mouthwatering.

Every dish was incredibly good. The house specialty spaghetti is just the way you want it, not too acidic and very tasty. It is really balanced. The lobster tagliolini was fresh and delicious and I've found that any pasta at Scarpetta is amazing. If you are a burrata fan (which I am not) then try the stracciatella. It's a mild creamy cheese served with roasted squash and apple (with truffle?). The cheese goes very well with the squash/apple. We also had duck, which was cooked to perfection. Probably not everyone's favorite, but a great dish if you like duck. The wine list is varied and vast and the cocktails were great. Highly recommend.

The team of people that serve you were very pushy to order, they were on top of you most of the time we couldn't finish a conversation without some one and asked if we want to order more staff, it wasn't trhe best experience that we have in a restaurant.
the food overall was good.

Perfect apart from the fact we needed to wait 30 minutes for our table. What’s the point of booking a table then? But we were offered 2 Prosecco glasses while waiting so it’s fine :)

Started off with the best Old Fashion cocktail I’ve ever had while one of my guest had her best ever Margherita! Spaghetti was an appetizer ...of course, it was delicious! Already knew it would be since my son told me from his previous visits that I had to order it! My Branzino fish melted in my mouth along with a taste of a guest’s braised oxtail. Don’t pass on the dessert either... worth all the calories. Definitely going back since there were too many items I wanted to order but can only eat so much at one sitting. Heading back to NYC in 3 weeks and taking my husband this time!

Fun place with good food, but the tables are so tiny. We were 3 of us in a small table that would squeeze in 2. Also they don’t have side plates so it made it difficult to share our starters.

Lovely , upscale restaurant in Nomad. At first I arrived and said my name and reservation. I was told to go to the bar until my party arrived. I didn't feel welcome. There were seats and I thought I should have been escorted to my table. The food was very good and the prixe fixed is a lovely menu When I got the bill the cost was about $20 too much. I finally got my server and she apologized. All of this means that I would go back but not eager to go back.

This was our second visit to Scarpetta and we could not wait to go back. While the food was absolutely outstanding, the service completely ruined the experience for us. Despite being very clear right up front with our server that we did *not* want to be rushed, he rushed us through our meal anyway. Days later I am still so upset about how it all unfolded and how rude and disrespectful he was. He insisted that we tell him right up front what we wanted for every course "so the kitchen could prepare" and he just kept bringing each course one immediately following the other which is exactly what we told him we did NOT want! I need time in-between each course; plus, it's a beautiful restaurant and we really wanted to enjoy a lovely, relaxing evening and meal. Lesson learned; I will never again tell a server at Scarpetta or any other restaurant for that matter what I want to order until I'm ready for them to actually put the order in.

Had to try their Manhattan location after having went to Scarpetta beach at Gurney’s Montauk resort a few times. Had a lunch date with my friend and my 2 year old. I left a note that I would be having a 2 year old with me when I made my reservation. So happy to have great seating! It was a cozy corner for us, especially the little one. Service was great, Charlott was very attentive before and after my friend came. Even gave us 2 servings of ice each time I asked to keep my daughter occupied. Food was delicious and it was a nice lunch vibe. Looking forward to trying it out at night. I highly recommend it!

Note if you’re a parent, I usually hire my sitter for night time dining. This location was good with a child but be aware there are some stairs before you meet the hostess. FYI I had brought my tiny fold up stroller that carries like a small bag.

I love to visit Scarpetta when i'm in town, the meal was terrific as usual, the service started out strong, but then our waitstaff disappeared. We had to flag down staff for water refills and to order dessert. It was a disappointing experience after looking forward to dinner with friends.

Closest thing to perfection I’ve ever witnessed. I am 62, a former vineyard/wine company CEO so I have had the opportunity to eat at some of the finest establishments in the country. This is right there at the top to me.

Killer Italian wine list. Our party (4 people) had two bottles of the Antinori Tiganello - a super Tuscan favorite of mine. Sommelier was spot on and was highly focused on making sure everything we had - food and wine - was managed to perfection. It was clear he was enjoying himself and loved his work.

Food was super. I have this thing about top of the line restaurants. I want to see if they have the discipline to make something simple while also making it great. I don’t want to be pandered to with something gimmicky - no armadillo pesto with Himalayan albino pine nuts, thank you. To me that is the sign of a chef with more ambition than confidence. I had the pasta main course with fresh basil and sauce. It was perfect. Simple, delicate and disciplined. That is the sign of a confident kitchen.

I will be back at Scarpetta. Soon.

You should too!
