The food was overpriced. Small portions that were good, but nothing particularly special. It was extremely loud and difficult to have a conversation, so not a great place to bring a date.
Honestly it was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. My parents were in town from LA and I wanted to take them to a nice restaurant for brunch. Despite being late for our reservation the staff remained very accommodating. From the decor to the live violinist providing music to accompany our dining pleasure and of course the food itself we could not have asked for more. Definitely coming back!
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner. Wanted to try a new place rather than our usual faves, so wasn't sure what to expect. Food was great all around (had the razor clams, mushroom polenta, zucchini mezzaluna, striped bass, lemon cake and espresso budino). But as good as the food was, it was the service and attentiveness of the entire staff that left a lasting impression. Now adding this place to our regular date night rotation.
Great food and great service
A very underwhelming experience to say the least. Although we had a reservation, they left us waiting for nearly 15 minutes. The servers were extremely rude and unhelpful and the food fairly tasteless. Would not recommend this place.
Excellent staff!! Bartenders were fantastic. And dining room staff was excellent. Food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Excellent dining experience!
Great! Got the short rib risotto and spaghetti. Perfect
The food was great but the service was terrible. After being seated, probably 5-10 minutes to get menus, then probably 15-20 minutes before our waiter came over. After we got our meals, took 15-20 minutes for him to come back to check on us. I had to order a second glass of wine from another waiter. After bringing dessert menus, another 15-20 minutes before he came back. We were so tired of waiting they lost out on pre-dinner drinks, appetizers, post dinner drinks and dessert.
The value of doing the brunch at this place is really fantastic and the service is great as well as the food. Love this place will come back here as often as I can for sure.
Dined at Scarpetta on Sept. 6, 2019 and had a delicious meal. Our server was Tabatha and she made our meal most enjoyable with her great energy and excellent service. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped steer us through the many choices available. All courses were divine. The food is exceptional. A special thank you to the dining room manager, Michael Lopez. He keeps a close watch on the dining room and is most gracious in helping to make everything right! Many thanks for a wonderful dining experience! We will definitely return.
We had to wait 1hr to be seated.
Food is solid but past favorites all fell just a little flat. That being said the space is welcoming and conducive to a nice night out. My biggest issue was how rushed we felt. We ordered our wine first so at least got to sip a but before apps serviced literally 3 min after ordering. Then they came our table 2 times during our apps asking to clear our table when we were clearly still enjoying. Then the 3rd time they said our mains were waiting. They delivered the mains right after clearing table with covers on them and the food was at best luke warm. We did not let that stop us from enjoying the night and lingered over cold pasta. However the poor couple next to us ordered a bottle of wine as the same time as their meal and they were rushed through, feeling ambushed the whole time and walked away visibly upset. Hopefully Scarpetta will read this and allow their customers to enjoy a nice night out without the hassle.
Very romantic, we thought the food was great ! Perfect for out date.
Honestly one of the best meals I have had in a while! I felt like I was eating dinner in the heart of Italy. It was my anniversary and they went above and beyond to make our night special. We will be back. I LOVED our dinner and above that I loved our dining experience.
Eh. Nothing special
The first time I dined here it was an incredible experience. The second time I attempted to come here, I came with a few friends to enjoy brunch. There is no notification on their website or on Opentable, but they told us that they did not serve alcohol for brunch in the mornings, so we left. The next time I came here, my pregnant friend ordered a mocktail. We let them know that she was pregnant and not drinking alcohol. They brought her an alcoholic version of her beverage and we notified them. They then told us that we were wrong. Once checking with the bar, they realized they were wrong and brought a new version of the drink. They did not take the drink off of the bill, which would have been the polite thing to do. I came back to this restaurant recently and it was a horrible experience all around. I notified the bar that two people in our party were running at least 20 minutes late. They said it was no problem and to wait at the bar. Once we went to check in, they told us that they gave our table away (without notifying us). We sat down and put our orders in at a bar table. We ordered their famous polenta. After 10 minutes or so, we were notified they were out of the polenta and short rib. We also asked for separate checks, which I know is not the New York standard and we typically don’t ask for, but needed to do so in this instance. He said he would do it but that we were making it extremely difficult for him. We said never mind and that it wasn’t a big deal but he said he would do it, visibly annoyed. To top it all off, we left an item at the table and realized later. We have called several different numbers and each one says their “office is closed” even though the restaurant is open. For all of these reasons, I won’t be returning here. The food was very good, but I was embarrassed three times I brought people here.
Awesome service! Awesome food! !
Excellent delicious great ambiance cuisine and service.
All good, all trendy, but with that the dishes and presentation were very well done.
Not so much quantity for the price... but on a date it was perfect.
Not for adults
Having visited the original Scarpetta on the West Side, I expected far more. Club music was inappropriate. Lots of people in shorts and tee shirts. Very commercial hotel ambiance. Food OK but not worth a return.
Service was bad. Waiter never checked on us. Steak was undercooked.
Spectacular! Great service and food was excellent
This new location has gone down hill fast, beautiful space but the service was just bad and the main courses par. The once amazing simple beautiful tomato basil Spaghetti is no longer life changing but boring. We had a 8:30 dinner and our waiters rushed us like their jobs depended on it. I know this because the waiter told me if I didn’t put it my main course order In with my appetizer the chef would have him fired. If you go only order the appetizers, aka the mushroom polenta. This place has been around far too long to act so cool. Go to a trattoria in Brooklyn where the severs enjoy their job.
Staff was incredible. Food amazing. Awesome evening.
Early reservation, nice table, personable attentive service
Too busy. Small portions. Over priced. $$
Sommelier was incredible
The only word I can use here is “perfect”. The food is amazing and the staff is lovely. Think twice before making a reservation anywhere else.
Probably the best halibut I’ve ever had. I also truly enjoyed the mushroom polenta appetizer. Great experience! Recommend highly!
Amazing dining experience, if you like great food, great service and a vibrant energetic crowd. Scarpetta is the place to be!
Small portions, good but nothing memorable about the food, way overpriced...even for Manhattan.
Extremely disappointing. We had been looking forward to trying Scarpetta but sadly it was overrated and overpriced.
The choice of food and menu selection was very disappointing. No daily specials.
Not the Scarpetta of days gone past. Too bad. Food was very disappointing.
If there’s ever a place in NYC that lives up to the stereotype of having snooty and clueless front of the house staff, non-knowledgeable bartenders and mediocre food, Scarpetta is it. The concierge got my reservation incorrectly, the bartenders couldn’t tell me what on their wine list would taste like a Reisling, they seated us at the bar entrance (crazy noise level), and when moved to the dinning room, the BAD-ATTITUDE maitre’d actually said to me: “if you don’t like where we seat you, there are options you can take”- basically telling me I should go somewhere else! I’ve been to numerous Michelin restaurants in the world, and never have I encountered a more hostile, rude and just overall poor dining experience. Will NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone in my network. So sad because i was hoping that my overseas friends who were visiting would have a good NYC dining experience. They were aghast at the service level and crap attitude from the senior wait staff.
The room is lovely and the booth and seating very comfortable. I quickly noticed that the music didn’t seem to match the room. It was an upscale dining room and yet the music was club like. The bread (sourdough) tasted like day old bread. My guests at dinner felt the spaghetti sauce was too oily and both of us who had fish (branzino and halibut) agreed there was too much salt in our dishes. The dessert with the espresso in the glass and the hazel nut ice cream was perfection. We also did get help finding wines by the glass we liked.
We have been to this location before and have also been to the Miami and Hamptons locations. We took my son there tonight to celebrate his 21st Birthday - big occasion and we were quite disappointed., when we arrived we were seated in a table we were not comfortable with asked nicely to move ( there were 20 other empty tables) we were told we could not move - no tables. This is very unusual- we were really surprised that they did not even try to help. Next came the waiter who was not great - did not make us feel welcome-made us feel like we did not order enough- we had a bottle of wine - 2 appetizers- 4 entrees and 3 desserts-never asked us if we wanted cheese, very poor service not attentive- did not make the occasion special and it should have been - not going back -like the food - very unhappy with service.
My friend and I had an amazing brunch experience here. The Good-Life-Brunch is totally worth the money. The service was excellent. The bread was amazing and their classic spaghetti was as perfect as usual. Can’t wait to go back!
First class prepared meals, healthy and delicious at the most reasonable prices. Best Sunday Brunch
