Scarpetta - Fontainebleau Miami Beach Ratings and Reviews
I was in Miami for work and friends were traveling through coincidentally the same week. I was able to get a reservation with pretty short notice. The atmosphere was beautiful. The food was delicious and just the right portion size. I would definitely come back again.
Very noisy and staff was moving at a frenetic pace. Pace seems to be set by floor managers who looked nervous and unfocused. The speed that the all of the staff moved was really unnerving, unpleasant and distracting. Our server acted anxious and in a hurry when taking orders. Drinks took a long time as well as the entree.
We were really excited to try this place for my 40th birthday on vacation here in Miami. We arrived early for our reservation and sent to the bar because they were not ready to seat us in an EMPTY dining room where tables were preset. That meant spending an extra $20 at the bar for two drinks. After being seated we got what we thought would be a helpful, attentive waiter. He was helpful in choosing our courses or at least approving of our choices. The sommelier was helpful as well in choosing a bottle of wine. Modest by thr wine list prices, but rather high for my budget. Still it was my birthday so I felt justified in a 2009 Rosso di Montalcino. Bread service came and was very tasty. The wine was perfect and our two appetizers were delicious. One was an octopus dish and the other scallops. Between this course and our main we had an arugula salad they split for us. At this point the dining room filled up and our team of two waiters began to focus there attention elsewhere. Water service was slow, began pouring our own wine and waited awhile between salad and main. My wife's Lobster tagliatelle was very salty. No one checked back after delivering the main course. Waters were empty, my food was finished and we waited. Our table was cleared except for the wine. We had to flag someone down to get offered a dessert menu which was banal and the server who was so helpful before was dismissive. We asked for the check, it took ages to come and then ages to return. All in all very disappointed in a meal that was expensive with an autogratuity. No mention of my birthday even though I added it to my open table reservation. So I think Scarpetta falls short of my expectations of chef Scott Conant.
Management and staff go above and beyond to satisfy and attend to everyone. We had a minor issue and it was immediately resolved so a huge thank you to the management. The food is amazing! We come back time after time and Chef never disappoints! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
The food and service were off the table. I ordered the Tagliatelle with Black Truffle one of my favorite dishes and the cheese overpowered the truffle. I explained this to the waiter and he said "I can understand that". The second dish was prawn - overcooked to liken baby food. We ordered an arugula salad without balsamic/sweet vinegar, and yet we received just that. When questioned, we received a polite this is what we serve. it was removed from the bill. Spoke to the gentlemen in the black suit and explained our situation assuming he may do something to assist, he said he was unaware of the order and walked away. Net - service was dismissive and food well was just not cooked correctly. The large expectation based upon the owners reputation was not realized. It was indeed a overpriced unpleasant experience. Would not recommend this restaurant. Staff training in food and service are needed to deliver an amazing experience.
Dont waste your money people. First off , from the beginning the wine sommelier assisted me with choosing a wine and from the bat not knowing my budget recommended a $200 bottle of wine. WRONG!!! That turned me off, but I figured its Fontainbleu so its typical. Ordered the octopus for my appetizer. Was tough and inedible. Being Italian and eating pulpo my entire life, it was a disgrace to serve that piece of rubber. Second course was the short rib agnolotti. It was tasty but they were more like tortellini and the portion was so small and not one speck of short rib in the dish. Third course was duck which was tough, tasty but unedible. My husband had the filet. TERRIBLE. It was a thin filet medallion which was overcooked and tough. The menu did not state it was a tiny medallion and it was a huge disappointment. I have had food cooked better at a cheap banquet hall than this place. After that we were done. No more courses for us and money out the window. Seems like the product is cheap and the chefs need to brush up on basic rules of thumb, how not to overcook delicate items such as Octopus, duck and filet. Ridiculous!!
The tasting menu was fabulous and inventive. Overall a great food experience. Service was on point. Downside was an excessively noisy environment. Perhaps if was our table position, but since they accommodate large groups, if is difficult to find a quiet spot. We might give it another try for the food and service. If your intention is to experience a quiet romantic dinner, this might not be the place.
We had a lovely dinner and the food was quite good, however I would not recommend this restaurant to others due to the logical challenges entering the hotel (miami fountainbleau). We were staying at a resort about a 15 minute walk from the fountainbleau and walked along the boardwalk to the hotel. The walk was lovely but we were greeted by a very rude security guard who would not allow us to enter the hotel from the boardwalk (she did not even offer to radio up to the restaurant to confirm we had reservations). We had to walk around the massive property which took an additional 15 minutes and I showed up for my birthday dinner sweaty and in a very bad mood. A great restaurant, but the fountainbleau's terrible service ruined it all.
This is the third Scarpetta location that I have visited and it does not disappoint.
Impeccable service, great cocktails, and amazing food.
They were even accommodating of our 3-month old in a stroller, giving the two of us a booth meant for 4 people during a busy dinner service.
We liked it so much that we returned for cocktails in their beautiful lounge on two additional nights during our trip.
last visited scarpetta when he was at Montage in Beverly Hills - he has evolved with menu at Fountainebleau - great menu - healthy portions - wonderful flavors - kudos to wait staff
If in South Florida and know of Scarpetta lore -- you will love the cuisine here
Well worth the drive if not staying at the hotel
We were vacationing in Miami and wanted Italian dining. Scarpetta was an excellent choice. We had a cozy table in the corner. I chose the scallops and my boyfriend has the short ribs we also split pasta. It was an unforgettable experience and we will definitely return on our next visit to Miami.
Scarpetta is an energetic, highly stylized environment enhanced by a top notch staff of service professionals. Of course, it’s location in the Fontainebleau Hotel sets it apart from any other Miami Beach Italian restaurant. Cocktails are made and served with diligence. Our food consisted of a Frito Misto that was one of the best I’ve ever had outside Italy. Chunks of fish, calamari and zucchini lightly fried and served hot with a delicate sauce. Perfect! For main courses, we had pasta dishes, a special oxtail ragu, and the other a lobster with saffron from the menu. The tagliatelle pasta was cooked perfectly, but we assessed the overall quality, main components of the dishes, flavor, etc. to be unremarkable more consistent with what one would expect in a trattoria. The main ingredient in each pasta dish was stingy. It was good, just not notable. For dessert we shared a lemon tart that had a brûlée topping that really set it apart; it was delicious. We would go back again for the fun time we had, probably opting to share a pasta dish as a first or second course, followed by other main courses such as fish or chicken. Kudos to the staff for their kind attention.
Great food, cool vibe, and creative cocktail menu. Our server was excellent and patient with us as we navigated the menu. Loved the Sinatra connection and history of the venue. Started with the "Sorrento" cocktail and enjoyed a scallop dish and tender ravioli as appetizers. Fresh pasta and nice presentation!
Food is great. I really don’t understand if 4 our 5 people are there why won’t they seat you. They do the same thing in NYC, makes no sense and it delays the whole dinner.
Other than that, can’t go wrong with Scarpetta. The polenta and the pasta is mind blowing.
