Scape American Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This used to be our favorite brunch spot. The crepe wasn't really a traditional crepe but rather seemed to be made with a kind of filo dough. The chicken and chorizo burrito lacked the prior flavor it used to have. The iced tea was the murkiest, cloudiest, most bitter we have ever had.
My wife and I went to Scape to celebrate Valentines day. We had a gift certificate, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience with or without the certificate. We shared an oyster appetizer which was wonderful. She had salmon, while I enjoyed boulliabase. Both were excellent as was the wine we shared.
The server was attentive without being overbearing.
We both loved our evening!
Extremely poor customer service. There were multiple menus floating around with different prices for items. I saw one price for a filet and was charged another (higher) price. Management was no help. He even accused me of lying about the price ($100 meal and a $9 discrepancy). The manager had no regard for customer satisfaction and walked away without resolving anything. I will definitely not be back and plan to tell everyone I know about the poor treatment I received.
Visited on Valentine’s Day.
Restaurant called a couple of day ahead to make sure we were actually going to use our reservation.
Very Nice place. Food was very tasty.
Beet salad, while delicious, was woefully short of beets.
Salmon was fantastic.
Asked for sparkling water, but was told the shipment did not arrive.
Server forgot to bring the desert menu.
Server was very polite.. I liked him.
Overall, a little pricey, but we would go back!
Great food for brunch and very reasonably priced. It wasn't loud like a lot of places. We had a nice round table and the conversation was very easy.
The waitress tried but wasn't the most attentive and they weren't all that busy. Plates sat on the table long after we had finished eating.
First visit but won’t be the last. Clayton valet met us as we pulled up and we were seated immediately by the hostess. She took a moment at the table to describe a few of the specialty drink selections. The ones we tried were generously poured and interesting.
Our server, Cobi, was attentive and helpful with suggestions or descriptions when needed. The ahi tuna poke is a MUST! The French onion soup is a shareable size and very rich.
Looking forward to trying Scape for brunch!
Service was spotty at best. Once seated we were waited on quickly but once drinks were served our waiter did not ask us about refills on hot tea or coffee. Water was readily supplied but coffee was refilled once at my request but the additional cream I asked for never materialized.
Good came out in three chunks with much too much time between deliveries. My bring item was the biscuits and gravy that were very short on gravy, not more than a couple of tablespoons. I asked for additional but by the time it came the biscuits were dead cold.
Overall a disappointing visit.
Normally, we have enjoyed great food. However, the short ribs were mediocre: as if they were reheated and a bit dried out. Great service, and drinks fine. Somehow, the meal was not up to snuff on Friday after New Years. But, have had other great meals. Will try again.
The New Year’s Eve pre fix dinner was disappointing and mediocre. The carpaccio was a little tough. The soup, although tasty, was barely warm. The duck enter was good. There were two choices for dessert and they ran out of one of them. Scape is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Louis, but it missed the mark on New Year’s Eve. That being said, it would not stop me from coming back to Scape, except for a pre fix dinner.
We have enjoyed meals at Scape in the past but were very disappointed in our New Years' Eve experience. We were not told when we reserved that the full menu would not be available. Instead, there was an $80 fixed price menu. We found many of the menu offerings unappealing. A seafood sausage had a mushy unpleasant texture. The kale salad was largely large under-dressed leaflets of kale. The hanger steak was tasty, but hardly the centerpiece of what was a pretty pricy menu with limited choices.
We also enjoy the experience at Scape. The servers are polite, informative but not too engaged. The food is consistently good and when the flatbread was a little overdone (which we didn't notice), the server discussed with the chef and they made us another one. The chicken dish is awesome and the ambiance is great. Thank you!
Fantastic meal! My husband and I made a last-minute dinner reservation the Saturday night before Christmas. We had been for brunch but never for dinner. It turned out to be an absolutely wonderful date night. The service was very friendly, easily accommodating us arriving half an hour early, and the food was phenomenal. I definitely recommend it!
We had an amazing dinner, great wine, and A+++ service by Chris!
Wonderful evening!!!!! Not one complaint. He made sure we had enough time to eat and make our show! His food /wine suggestions were fantastic! We will be back and promote the restaurant and open table on social media!
Chris was an amazing server. We were celebrating our engagement and he did everything he could to make the night enjoyable for us. His knowledge of the menu was great and he did an amazing job giving suggestions based off our taste. The food and drink was exactly what you paid for. And the truffle fries were a table favorite. Thank you Chris for making our family celebration a great night.
The food was delicious and service excellent. I'm vegetarian and had the spinach and goat cheese omlette (with egg whites). My friends had various other brunch items and everyone enjoyed their food. Our waitress was attentive and the food came out quickly. The ambiance was lovely and the prices were reasonable.
My wife had the special which was fish (I can’t remember which kind) and scallops. It was ok. She liked the scallops but the flavors of the dish were not great and overpowered the seafood. (Vinegary and peppery was how she described it)
I had the pork porterhouse coooked medium. Served atop cheese grits. The flavor of minw was quite good but the pork was tough and over cooked.
I also ordered the fried doughnuts with coffee ice cream for desert which was the best thing that I had that night.
Service was great and our waitress was cheerful and attentive.
Casey is probably one of the best, most reasonable managers I’ve met. She is custom to each table she visits. Our waiter was terrific, explaining the chef menu and making great recommendations. Excellent food and service all around. Scape did not disappoint.
