I was disappointed in food....I thought I was getting the shrimp and grits, I had gotten before, only to find out you changed it with a fried grits version. I became in love with skillet version...truly disappointed.
We had 10am reservations. We were seated right away, there were only 3-4 other tables there for the first 30ish minutes we were there. The food was amazing. However, wait staff kept coming and trying to take our plates that still had food. We were there an hour and 20 minutes. When we left, while busier than when we first arrived, they were by no means swamped. There were plenty of open tables. Yet, every 5-10 minutes, they'd again come to take our plates, with food, that we were eating from.
I had the mussels and the halibut and it was delicious! My date had the Branzino fish with the chorizo inside and he was not very impressed; he rated it a 6 out of 10. Our waitress was wonderful; excellent service! The ambiance was very nice. They offer valet parking for I believe, $6 (I'm not positive on the price, but it was around there). It's a great place to go because it's walking distance to Brennan's, The Pagan Wine Bar, Gamlin's Whiskey House, and several other bars to grab an after dinner drink at.
All of the food we had was excellent. It was well prepared and fresh The service was excellent, though a little slow as they were pretty busy. We had a romantic dinner and the noise level was moderate but not overwhelming. Will recommend Scape to friends and family.
It was amazing food service everything, experience was fantastic.
Everything was great! Our service was awesome and the FOOD was amazing!! Definitely worth it and will be coming back!
Very enjoyable time. Though it was cold outside it was very warm and comfortable inside. I would also like to praise the wait staff who were excellent.
We were there to celebrate Valentine’s Day and also our 27th Anniversary. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful.
The location and presentation is wonderful but the food was not at it's best on this night. Although the staff was amazing.
Scape is wonderful for a special occasion, date, birthday, business meal, leisurely (adults) family & friends dinner - so many occasions. The service is excellent, the food wonderful, the drink choice great And the atmosphere elegant - I have been there multiple times for brunch and dinner and have nothing but high praise for Scape!
Highly recommend the Macadamia Nut Chicken and the Kale Salad for dinner!
Inventive cocktails, creative menu, all cooked to perfection. Hearty portions of food served. Our waiter was attentive without being obtrusive, and was helpful with suggestions. The valet parking was welcomed, but we did have to wait quite a while for the valet attendant when pulling up, perhaps another attendant would be in order?
First time going to the restaurants because I heard so many great things. I like the food but thought the price of the mimosa we very high.
Also, I was hoping for a brunch buffet but the only option is Ordering off the menu, though that was a bit dissapointing nonetheless the food was good; and the crepes were excellent! Next will have to try the dinner, hear great things about the food choice on the menu.
The food wasn’t as good as it has been in the past. It was almost like a back-up crew was working in the kitchen.
Also, the staff was fantastic as always, but many of them were wearing clothes that looked incredibly worn out. I found myself wondering if there was somewhere I could donate things like belts, pants, and maybe an iron or two to help them out.
It was fantastic
Scape is a wonderful restaurant with a beautiful setting. We went on a Saturday evening and had a 6pm reservation. It was almost empty at that time, so if you want a more lively setting I suggest making your reservation a little later. We all enjoyed the filet special that included scallops and wild mushrooms. The filet was cooked perfectly and everything was wonderful. We had a bottle of Malbec and found the bottle prices to be fairly reasonable. We finished the meal with Creme Brûlée and individual sized bottles of champagne. Lovely experience!
Brunch was excellent as usual and the service was great as well.
Went here for bottomless mimosa brunch on Sunday and absolutely fell in love. Not too noisy and wonderful staff.
I got their breakfast burrito which was outstanding and my wife got their crab Benedict which she loved.
Their mimosas were made great (not too much orange juice) and they’d leave the carafe with you which was nice. Highly recommend this place.
Only thing to consider is it is pricier.
I am normally a big fan of Scape, but it was only OK this time, and it is a lot to pay for only OK. I ordered the Bronzini fish, which was stuffed with chorizo, but the fish was so small that there was more chorizo than fish. My wife ordered the Day Boat, which was lobster, but again she said that it was only OK. The service was good and it is a great space. Maybe we ordered wrong or they just had an off night. We will definitely give it another try because we have been there several times and it is normally much better.
New Year's eve supper with special menu was delicious. We had a family dinner and everything was terrific. Glad we chose Scape to ring in the new year.
New Year’s Eve 7 course meal. Felt rushed, often bringing the next course out when the current wasn’t finished. The filet was excellent, but the noodles for the duck were thick and overpowering. No ricotta in the duck filling. Overall was a nice evening, waitress was fantastic.
It can happen, but our service was just average. While our server was pleasant enough, one order wasn’t right. The English muffin was delayed and not toasted as requested and the butter came as I was finishing. There was no garnish at all, and no side of fruit offered which made for an unattractive presentation. The place was attractive and the omelet was good, but Scape for brunch did not live up to it’s high recommendation.
Christmas with family.
Christmas Eve gathering with my daughters and their family, and we were very happy with Scape!
Great brunch spot, with varied menu that satisfies breakfast and lunch yearnings. Food consistently good.
Food and service was amazing! I would recommend to everyone. Thanks
Ambiance was extremely nice and the service was excellent. Server was totally attentive and addressed our needs. She was friendly and courteous.
I have been here for my family lunch on Thanksgiving day and we came back this time for a small get together with friends to enjoy a good meal and exchange Christmas gifts. The cocktails and wine list are great. On Thanksgiving, I had the Old Fashioned which had a hint of pear and was very nicely balanced! This time, I had the blood orange margaritas and a few of my friends had the endless Bloody mary bar. Both were quite lovely! The California Eggs Benedict came with perfectly poached eggs (hard to find) and flavorful crab cakes. They were even accommodating to our gluten-conscious diets and were willing to sub out the English muffins for roasted poblano pepper, which played very nicely with the dish. We will be back and will definitely recommend to friends!
Food not prepared as ordered nor did the waiter check on us after the food was brought to our table. We won't return.
Great brunch! The ambiance was good. Great place to meet friends or family. Service was great. Chicken and waffles delicious! Decor very pleasing.
Two people had the duck. Very good. Two had lobster pepperdell. Very good. One had filet. Very good. We all agreed we would go back. Chef is very creative.
Fabulous, creative food. The shrimp and grits appetizer is to die for! Plenty to share, as are the mussels. The rack of lamb was perfectly prepared with an inventive red beet gnocchi that was delicious! Our server, Bob, was delightful! Great evening!
I don't live in the Central West End of St. Louis, but my son does, and we all went there for sunday brunch. It's a lovely place, with upscale pub type food. It was excellent, and while not cheap, it was a good value. What made it excellent was Nick, the waiter. A total professional, he combined midwest friendliness with an efficient professionalism. If he didn't know, he asked. If he knew, he told us why. He did his job really well. Scape is a large place, I can see it being wonderful on a warm day outside, or a private party in a very pretty separate room. Overall, an excellent place, and worth a visit.
We came here before a Christmas function. The staff was considerate of our time constraint. The food was great. It’s just a block from the Chase Park Plaza, so it’s a good alternative to the Chase’s (also great) restaurants. The Christmas decorations are nice, too!
Amazing food and amazing service! Can’t wait to come back
We will definitely go there for a regular dinner. Their Thanksgiving buffet was only fair to poor. Stuffing ( which is my favorite) was hard, dry & tasteless. Turkey & beef were moist & tender, but no flavor at all. Salmon was ok. Vegetable dishes were cold. On the bright side, the chopped salad, shrimp, & pumpkin cheese cake were fantastic.
Pasta was cold. Server always managed to interrupt for everything--getting the order, refilling water, clearing dishes, etc. Food was nothing amazing. The entire experience was not worth the price lmao. I could go to a million other places in stl and get five times the food, with better service and better quality. No wonder the clientele was all old white people lolol. This kind of restaurant might be the next Applebees.
This is our forth time to Scape. Each time we have had an excellent dinner. The last two times we have eaten at 6pm as we had other events to attend. At six the restaurant was nearly empty but filled up and became more energetic as we were leaving.
The food and service were great. This past summer we ate outside which was very pleasant.
I have also attended a business dinner in which the upstairs dinning area was reserved for us, I can strongly endorse this for large groups.
We live in the Central West End, and Scape is our favorite local restaurant. The food is great and the atmosphere is very classy. The view from the windows at the fountain is very pleasing. The service was very professional, friendly and prompt.
This is a wonderful restaurant for a business dinner or for "date night".
Couldn’t have been better! We had Saturday brunch and were blown away by the food and service. We had lemon beignets, crab omelet, smoked salmon omelet, Monte Christo and the farmer’s cheese pancakes. The pancakes alone were worth the 6 hour drive to St Louis! Our sides included potatoes and bacon. We had spiked apple cider and a morning margarita. The food and drinks were the best we had on in our weeklong visit to St Louis. On top of that our server, Nick, was amazing. He was attentive, helpful, gracious and friendly. He definitely set the tone for a great experience and then he kept it up for the rest of our meal!
Great cocktails and all entrees were top notch. Lively space with live musician preforming. Can’t beat the location for a night of bar hoping.
