oo la la was the motto Chef Liz established for the night and boy did I go oo la la a lot. Focaccia and pane carasau(?) paired with olives and pickled peppers to start the night. Pane Carasau is sort of flat bread made in Sardegna during a time without yeast. Crispy and topped with a drizzle of olive oil. Fritelle de zucca. A sort of omelet filled spring veggies and topped with spring herbs such as parsley, mint, and others. It was such a simple dish that reminds you herbs can do the heavy lifting in a dish as well Lorighittas. A laborious hand braided pasta. It was absolutely made with love, but I'm sure after all was finished, the staff bore a lot of hatred in the making of that pasta. I tasted all of the love they braided into every pasta and it was fantastic Culurgiones. A stuffed ravioli topped with summer truffles. This felt like a dish that had a lot of thought put into it. Raviolis alone were delicious, but allowing the summer truffles partner up and elevate the dish to a new level. It was definitely more of a dish built for truffle, rather than a dish with truffle thrown on top Cod. Flaky. Soft. Delicious over top a slightly acidic tomato broth Ending with Tiramisu. There's only one other tiramisu I love in the city and it's at Barbuzzo, but girrrlllll, tiramisu made with chiffon rather than lady fingers is S tier I loved the brief summaries of the dishes Chef Liz gave in between courses. The wine pairing they suggest on their page is also very good

Scampi is a perfect and unique dining experience. It’s high end food in an intimate setting without being pretentious. Liz always sets the right tone, telling us about the food she’s lovingly made and why we’re eating that food at that moment. She’s warm and funny and her Italian history moments add to the experience. My favorite spot in Philly!

The food was delicious and seasonal. I especially enjoyed the Chef providing insights on the cultural influences on the dishes.

A dream. This is such a special experience and we’re so lucky Liz welcomes us into her living room 2.0. The tiramisu and shrimp are so special. But everything is a banger — especially Liz’s walkthroughs.

If I could give an overall star rating of 3.5 I think I would. Most of the dishes were tasty. However, this requires physically splitting single dishes for each course with your partner. I don’t think I saw shrimp in any of the dishes, which makes me wonder why they call this restaurant Scampi… and I was, in fact, looking forward to scampi! The decor is bare bones, and like so many other restaurants, the noise level is nuts. There were a few acoustic tiles suspended from the ceiling. However, these were completely ineffective, and the din was unacceptable. I appreciated the owner/chef’s attempts to convey the regional culinary particulars of the menu to the diners, but she seemed very nervous and could not stop pacing back and forth while attempting to convey this information. I couldn’t understand a lot of it again because of the acoustics and could have done without the lectures. One of the courses was a very skimpy potato and octopus dish (single skinny tentacle), and one of the other courses took a very long time to come out. Service was impersonal. I appreciate the efforts made by chef and staff. I stand by my observations and appreciate that chef/owner responded to my review.

Hi! Scampi refers to langoustine, not shrimp! The story of that word changing through immigration is what I named the restaurant after, not simply shrimp scampi :) I funded this restaurant with my life savings as a cook, apologies that what I built with my two hands wasn't to your preferences. As for the shrimp, I can personally guarantee that there was rock shrimp in our rock shrimp orrechiette, since I'm the one who cooked it. I do wish you would have spoken to me or my staff to voice these concerns so we could have tried to fix it in the moment.
