Sbicca - Del Mar

Food was great.

We were there for Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately a crowd of white guys were seated next to us. They were yelling like it was a college bar. It was hard to talk and everyone else in the room was clearly unable to enjoy their dinner. Two servers eventually acknowledge the problem and asked if we wanted to be reseated but by then we were done with dinner and they guys were finally leaving.

So this place attracts an undesirable crowd. What can they do?

I assumed either our drinks or dessert would be free, and that was all I expected from the restaurant, but when the check came we were charged full price for a totally unsatisfying experience, and that was a huge blunder that suggests this must happen all the time. With tip it was $160 for the ambiance of a Pizza Hut. I won’t go back.

Very romantic ambiance. The service is very nice and the food was very flavorful. I love that this is a local hot spot.

Sbicca is consistently good. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. Drinks were good. Our waiter was great; attentive without hovering. Will say that the noise level was pretty high, don't know what you can do about that. Will definitely be back.

We had a delicious dinner and our waitress, Amanda, was wonderful.

Sbicca’s always a great place to dine and especially so on Tuesdays or Thursdays when bottles of wine are 1/2 price. We shared a wonderful calamari appetizer and our pork chop and mushroom ravioli entrees were very tasty. Decadent bread pudding finished our lovely meal. Amanda’s service was prompt and very friendly- typical of Sbicca.

Was disappointed in our experience here. The service was below average and felt awkward. Aside from the bisque, the rest of the food was very average.

been to Sbicca often, but this time was the least pleasant. WAAAAy too noisy (this time time floor, and prior time 2nd floor, also noisy). there must be some method of ameliorating that (glass, hard floors, hard tables merely make it all worse). I recognize that larger parties, on nights with half priced wines tend to increase the noise level, but as we intended serious conversation, which was near impossible, not sure I can bring myself to return in the near future, if at all.

My only complaint was that I put on the reservation we were celebrating a birthday and the waiter did not acknowledge it.

Great location! Food was excellent, however, we did have to return the prime rib of pork as it was too tough and normally it's very tender. The replacement was perfect - we had the s'mores pot, excellent. Service was wonderful!

As always the service and food is fantastic. The only negative is just how loud the upper dining is with not even a full room.

First time at Sbicca. We were pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, parking can be tough. The food was very good! Amanda gave us outstanding service!

Sbicca is a great local neighborhood restaurant. They do a great job with the menu in terms of options. They always do a great overall job on both the food and the service. The wine specials are a very nice option between the half price wine nights and the no corkage night. It's a great place.

We had requested a quiet table with a view (we were a small party), but we were seated next to a large, loud party downstairs near the fireplace, and it was still cold. The staff was kind enough to supply blankets. After we ordered an appetizer, a server brought it immediately to the table next to us, one of whom then asked if we had ordered the item.

Our initial server came back and apologized and asked us for our main entree orders, which come with a salad or soup. I mentioned one member of our party is vegetarian, and the server kindly helped select a vegetarian item from the menu. By that time our menus had been taken and we forgot to choose soup or salad. The second server returned with seafood bisque for all three of us, including the vegetarian. She summoned the initial server, who returned and explained that she had decided on her own that we would get the bisque. None of us eats seafood, though we figured, we're out to eat, and other than our vegetarian companion, we tried the bisque.

That was not a good idea. The bisque upset my stomach, and we had to pack up our main entrees and leave.

At home, we discovered the fried chicken and pork chop were exceptional - the generously thick pork chop was soft and flavorful (though the kitchen had not included the mustard sauce in the take-home box), and the fried chicken and sides were juicy and filling. From our experience, the service was lacking that day, and we felt shortchanged in attention compared to the larger party next to us, but Sbicca makes excellent food - rather than sitting in the restaurant, I'd rather take it home to eat.

We had dinner here on my birthday and everything was amazing. From our cocktails (I had the Neighbor) to the appetizer (meat malls and garden salad) to our entrees (the special which was pork belly and rice and veggies and the flank steak) and for dessert we got the s’mores pot de cream and the chocolate chip bread pudding! Everything was amazing. The service is incredible to the atmosphere is amazing we can’t wait till we come back into Del Mar and share another meal with them. You won’t be disappointed coming here!

We enjoyed a late lunch with friends . The lettuce wraps were excellent. And the ahi salad was very good and very generous

The price on Braised short ribs was too expensive for the portion they gave . I’ve had it before at The Market and it’s way better served sliced and good portion and taste better so I was disappointed and it was my birthday. The waiter didn’t even ask if any occasion. So far the swordfish was great. My husband didn’t like the butternut squash pasta. It was just ok. Too loud, tables are too close together. It’s just ok I’m not that impressed I had bettter food other places. It’s over priced for the quality of food.

Sbicca's is one of our favorite spots. The food, service and location are the best in Del Mar. We have never had a bad experience or bad food at Sbicca. Definitely give it a try you won't be disappointed.

It has been our special occasion destination for years. Southern Cal funky in a very good way. Tuesday and Thursday are half price wine days. Embrace them.

Sbicca is a gem. One of the best menus around combined with outstanding service and a top 5 wine list make this our go-to place.

Great location by the water - we sat outside on patio I recommend highly for the view. Brunch was excellent we had a variety of food choices including the crab cake eggs Benedict flortine and fish taco. Guava juice was tasty coffee was fresh. Service was excellent.
