Sayola Montclair Restaurant
We were there for the Sunday Buffett. The selection of breakfast foods and lunch/dinner foods was excellent. There was live music however where we were sitting it was a little loud competing with our conversation. The staff was accommodating and we were able to linger as long as we wanted to. Definitely would go back
Ambiance at the restaurant was very nice (the only good thing at this restaurant). We had reservation, and we did not wait to be seated. The Waitress appeared not to be experienced. She lack the touch for the type of establishment that Sayola inspires to be. The food lack taste. There are better restaurants at lower prices at the Ironbound Section of Newark. My experience at Sayola lack the touch that a restaurant at this price level offers.
I will not recommend Sayola to my friends. My visit at this establishment was not a good One, and I will not return.
Nice attentive staff, good food
To begin, another party of two walked in with us, without reservations and was seated before we were. We were slightly earlier than our reservation time but why bother making a reservation at all if you will be seated before a party of the same size without one? A huge party was going on (of about 20 people) in the middle of the restaurant, which obviously took up MUCH of the waiters and bus staff attention, meaning service was less than mediocre. The server did not even bother to tell us the specials, and we had already waited at least a half hour after being seated for him to arrive at our table that I don’t thibk either of us really minded. Lastly, my husband being FROM Spain, was not impressed with the food, especially when compared to other Spanish restaurants in the area.
1st time but definitely not the last time here. Service was incredible, food was amazing. Couldn't ask for a better night out.
Delicious food and service was good. Hard to have a conversation at a table for 4 since the background music was very loud
We really love this restaurant and service and food are always very good.
But every time we go there for dinner, 3 times now, they are set up for a party in the main dining room.
To have birthday party’s of 20 people in the main dining room I feel it makes it too loud and too crowded. The party’s should be in the back dining area not in the main dining room.
Sayola presentation and taste were wonderful. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would recommend a larger party to the restaurant so they can taste everything. They have great dishes for sharing.
Friendly and attentive wait staff who never intruded but were present when needed. Food was outstanding and portions very generous. A bit more expensive than comparable restaurants in the area but everything was very well-prepared and presented. I appreciated that our group could sit and talk with no pressure to rush through the meal or even leave when we decided against dessert. It felt as if we were treated like family and not just a customer. Great selection of seafood and choices for non-meat eaters. A place I will definitely return too.
TWICE IN ONE WEEK. We had such a great meal Friday night that we went back to celebrate our son's birthday the following Wednesday night. This time we tried something different and everything was excellent as well. Great friendly staff and very efficient. Our new favorite.
Such a great time at Sayola! Personable service, great food, ambiance and music, so much fun!
Amazing brunch/ birthday celebration with family. Great Food, and Live Music with Exceptional Service. Can’t wait to return!!
Great Sunday Brunch with the girls! Fabio, our waiter was attentive and very accommodating. The food was DELISH and the live music was amazing! What a wonderful experience!
Loved everything about this place!
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. The serve was excellent. Like how all the wait staff helps one another. Food was delicious and we had a hard time choosing what to eat. Some many wonderful things on the menu. Will be back very soon to try more great things. Very friendly staff.
Just so so
Really liked this place. Wish they were a little bit more of a tapas place, but the food was uniformly good and the service was excellent. Will definitely return.
I was there with my family for a birthday celebration. I was very impressed with the food & service. I had a great time. The food was outstanding, and authentic. Service was amazing . I can’t wait to go back & try the rest of the menu.
Just way too pricey for what it is. Bowl of Lentil soup was 13.95. Broccoli Rabe side was 12.95. In New Jersey? Pretty place and nice wait staff... but the prices are simply not justified for the area. Paella dishes are nearly $30 and if you share they hit you with another $8. Let’s face it... Paella is mostly rice. I will be very surprised if this makes it much longer.
Awesome New Restaurant Alert!:
Went tonight for a rescheduled Valentines dinner and it was fantastic.

• Wonderful, friendly service from the GM, John!!

I had the best meal ever in Montclair last night at Sayola
The food was unbelievable
Service was fantastic
Ambiance was sexy
Can’t wait to go back again
This is a very elegant restaurant but if you dress casual, it’s totally fine. Your experience starts out when you are greeted at the door. The waiter was really nice. We felt like first class patrons from the amount of attention we received. They took our full order, appetizers and meals so that there was not a large gap in between. We had the garlic shrimp and the fried calamari. Very good. The sauces were excellent. Two of our party had bronzino. So delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The stuffed shrimp was very well seasoned and nicely prepared. Not over cooked. Desserts were excellent. The only thing I didn’t like was the crepe brûlée. It didn’t seem authentic.
Everything was awesome! Specially I loved the service that was provided to us. From the host to the waiters and waitresses to the help. Will def come back.
Food was good, I wish they would have live Spanish music
Amazing!! Can’t say much but that my girlfriend and I had an amazing time! The service, food and drinks were great! And the live music really brought the place to live and the vibe in the restaurant was very relaxing and outstanding! Will most definitely be coming back soon!
Fantastic spot for Valentine's day dinner - ambiance was romantic, service was excellent and food was great.
Great food and service! Our favorite new restaurant. Highly recommend
Went here on a Sunday evening to celebrate my friend's birthday. Upon walking in, I really liked the decor. Our waiter Fabio was great and very fun with an cheerful demeanor. For an appetizer, We had the calamari with ginger glaze which was delicious! There were bread rolls served with 2 compound butters and olive tapenade. The bread was a little to tough for my liking but my friends ate some of it.
My entree was good. I had the lamb chops with roasted potatoes and veggies.
For dessert I had a chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream which tasted ok. Dessert was served to my friend with a happy birthday serenade.
Overall, we had a really nice time and I would definitely recommend.
Service was phenomenal and everyone there was super attentive. Given that this was a holiday weekend, I was impressed by the level of attention given by the staff. We ordered the pulpo gallego, filet tips, paella negra, and stuffed monkfish and everything was delicious. Would come back again.
My husband and I thought we would try Sayola for brunch on Sunday. We have had dinner here a few times and loved it. Well we were not disappointed. The brunch is excellent and the music was the best. I was able to sing all the words to all the songs. The guitar player was very good. The buffet had many choices from breakfast food to salads and chicken, fish, soup etc.
we will return with our friends.
We loved the food but the service was quite spotty. We liked our waiter when he was present but we were ignored most of the evening. We will be back because of the food but the entire experience could be better.
Food was uninspired and felt tired, especially for the prices. I wish they would have put less into the Disney level decor and more into the food. The service was warm and attentive, but we won’t be back.
Our visit here for the first time was sort of a mixed bag. The restaurant and Decour is beautiful and the service was top notch. The prices are high for a restaurant in North New Jersey however the food doesn’t really match the price. We had a delicious appetizer of chorizo and shrimp with avocado the prices for that were sort of in line for what a high-end appetizer would be an overall it was good. The Issue it was with the main course of Chilean bass and the special stuff porkchops. These two entrees were nearly $70!! Once you experience this place you will realize why the prices are so high. The build out and decor are very high end - unfortunately the food doesn’t meet top notch expectations. BYOB is the only reason this didn’t become a $200 meal for 2 !!!!
Great Spanish Food, very authentic, tasted great and the portions were plentiful. The Paella was fantastic.
Ours servers were extremely attentive, very professional.
The ambience of the restaurant was what you want, Great atmosphere.
The Flamenco Show in Sayola was amazing!
Will definitely be back.
We really liked the place. Great food. Big and warm on a cold night
Everything was terrific. From service to food. We enjoyed our meals immensely. Don’t forget to try the specials. The chorizo shrimp and potato appetizer was our favorite. Best chorizo I’ve tasted. We will be back and soon
Great Service. I did not pick well off the menu so wasn’t thrilled with my dish but I will go back and try again. Love the Interior and vibe of the place.
Amazing food, service, ambience. Can't wait to go back.
Our server Fabio was attentive and enthusiastic making our group of 8 celebrating a birthday special. The staff was friendly and warm to us. It made our night out feel special and worth the visit. The food was excellent, everyone in the group enjoyed the ambience, and menu selection. The specials for that evening had a considerable amount of options aside from the regular menu options.
