It was my first visit. We were sat immediately. Then the long exhaustive wait ensued. We could not rouse ANY server to acknowledge our table. Not even get a glass of water or place a drink order. I waved my hand a a server several times and it was as though she was blind. Finially a manager passed and I stood to get his attention because he'd have scooted by too. He was apologetic, took our drink orders and disappeared for another 15 minutes. Our supposed server full of smiles and stage whispers said she'd be right with us. At least 15 minutes more passed and I waved the manager who ultimately took our orders. The food was very good. Portions on the smaller side which is fine but you should be aware of that if you are hungry. Oysters were so good and my super Tuscan wine was excellent. Trying to get the check and pay as absolutely painful. The level of inattention by the servers would almost be comical were it not so maddeningly rude. I'd love to go back but not after my experience with their servers. Definitely need reservations. Very cool vibe. Interesting menu. Prices are not out of sync with other restaurants of this ilk, but the lack of attention by the servers is inexcusable.
The service was friendly and efficient. The Saxon burger was very delicious!! The egg, maple bacon mmmmmm!! This is an awesome brunch spot and will certainly be back!
Great vibe , great bar , great service ...
Food was yummy if a bit overpriced,26$ for a burger seems high but it tasted great ! Sit upstairs in the main room !
I love the ambiance and the food there. We had the Burger and the Brussel Sprouts, both were excellent. The cocktail was too.
Everything was great. The hamburger and cheesecake sundae were outstanding. The service was excellent-attentive but not pushy.
We both got the burger and it was simply delicious as were the fries. There was a mayonnaise that came for the fries that was incredible. Service was excellent - friendly, easy going and professional. I had a non-alcoholic mint drink that was excellent and appreciated that the restaurant used a metal straw instead of a plastic one. Only drawback is the price - it's expensive but overall a great experience.
Good experience overall. Tried the Virgin Voyages tasting menu and it was excellent. And fantastic service.
Vale la pena
Delicious food and cocktails!
Loved this restaurant-the ambiance was so romantic and cozy. The chef was very accommodating with food allergies. The food was so flavorful and definitely worth the price. Will be coming back here!
DIY Bloody Mary bar was very very disappointing. Drinks were weak, garnishes were lacking. More trimmings and fixings must be added.
Food was very good, and our waiter was attentive and pleasant - which I cannot say about the front of the house. Despite an early reservation and a relatively empty restaurant, "policy" is that the entire party (of2) needed to be there to be seated. OK, I waited, standing at the bar since there were no seats to be had. When my guest arrived, the woman staffing the front desk said we had to wait for her colleague to return to seat us. So we waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, another staffer came to the front desk, and I told her my party was now complete. She replied that seating guests was not her role, and we should wait a bit more. So we waited. By the time we got finally got seated, I was pretty steamed, but determined to put it behind me. I ordered a drink, neat. It came and had to be the stingiest pour. The food though was good, as was our waiter. We sat in the back room, which is quieter and good for conversation. A great evening given my companion - but I won't be rushing back to S&P anytime soon, despite living in the neighborhood.
Great service. Amazing food. So much fun
The cocktail menu was amazing and the food was fantastic. I loved the ambiance and the service was friendly and very professional.
wonderful food and exceptional service
Having been to Saxon and Parole on multiple occasions, I was extremely displeased with my recent visit. The menu was not what I had expected for a brunch meal. There were virtually no egg shops other than the Turkish Eggs, and the fried chicken sandwich I ended up ordering was wildly disappointing. The sandwich consisted of a bun and two VERY large pieces of fried chicken with some sort of sauce. That was it. I had to basically deconstruct the sandwich. I’ll admit the chicken had good flavor but it was so difficult to eat that I gave up after a few bites. The iced coffee was a bit bitter and the aioli that came with the French fries was inedible. Overall it was not what I expected, and was quite possibly the worst brunch I’ve had in a while. I will not be coming back. Shame.
New Years eve
Already one of our favorite restaurants in NYC, we chose Saxon + Parole to celebrate NYE with a group of people (ourselves included) who felt like celebrating NYE in the city is often over-hyped and more trouble than its worth. I am glad to say that our experience could not have been better! The S+P team pulled off an amazing night for all their guests with lots of fun details, like dancers, a champagne toast, and an amazing prix fixe menu. Cheers to S+P for making a night barely remembered truly worth remembering!
Saxon & Parole was Incredibly gracious. We had misplaced a gift certificate to The Public (former restaurant by same owners) which we came across only recently. They readily honored the gift certificate. Knowing that it was my husband's birthday they brought some sorbet, punctuated by a candle at the end of the meal, having previously brought us some complimentary sparkling wine. Food was delicious.
Amazing food, huge serves and great service. It was a great night with a romantic atmosphere
Excellent restaurant that took very good care of us. When I made our reservation I specifically asked for a table away from speakers and as quiet as possible and they delivered. The food was good and our server, Steven was terrific. Saxon + Parole is super close and convenient to the Sheen Center. We will be back.
Wonderful ambience and scrumptious entrees.
Lovely restaurant— truffle fries were the MOST worth it. One of my very best friends and I celebrated our friendaversary here and it was excellent. The deviled eggs are VERY good— wish there were 4 instead of 3 to a plate— and the steak and avocado salad was perfection. Can’t wait to come back.
Solid food and drink, very good service. If want to have a conversation ask for a table away from the bar, which has great music.
Saxon + Parole is solid. The oysters were amazing. the burger was good with a nice twist on condiments. The space is beautiful and the ambiance cozy and romantic. The wait staff was attentive without being annoying. I would recommend Sazon + Parole.
Had a wonderful dinner. Everything was so delicious. Thank you.
It was so loud and noisy it was uncomfortable. I left with an upset stomach. We definitely are not your demographic.
Great atmosphere and delicious food!
Excellent food, very innovative vegetable pairings. Despite active (SantaCon) night, staff found us a quieter table, and never missed a beat. Trust them on the inventive cocktail combinations: delicious.
Half of our party was underwhelmed with the brunch food, the other half enjoyed their entrees, which is disappointing given the price of the meal. The DIY bloody mary bar is a bit overrated, and service was quite slow.
We were visiting NYC from DC and went to Saxon + Parole on a recommendation from a friend. Food and service were great. But we loved the bar. Great ambience. Great bartenders.
Some interesting dishes - cool in concept almost there in experience. Like the Foie Brulee - great idea. Was disappointed to discover it was a cold dish and it lacked a little in the riches I expected from Foie Gras.
Our entrees took ages - and the wait staff did not come to us to let us know why the delays until we started to look around desperately. They did then apologies and sent us a yummy smores dessert on the house to apologies - which did make up for it some. But after all the wait my husband's pork chop was a bit under cooked. I would go back for cocktails but probably not my first choice for food with so many options in the city.
Fined at bar. Incredible cocktails, friendly staff, delicious food.
Kip at the bar was great. We came a bit early for our reservation so he chatted us up about living in Williamsburg and was generally likable.
When we got to our seat all was well. We were greeted by a female waiter (can't remember her name, dark hair, early 40s?) My boss ordered a salad with the dressing on the side. That didn't happen. He let it slide since it wasn't over-dressed. I got the shaved brussels sprout salad.
We put in our food order and waited 45 minutes. When we inquired, because we were waiting a long time, she looked at us surprisedly and said, "I was waiting until you finished your appetizers." My boss and I just looked at each other, then to our salads, but she had left. Another fifteen minutes went by and she again came back and explained she waited until we finished our appetizers to put our order in. That was when we pointed out that they are salads, not appetizers, and that we both would continue to nibble on our salads while eating dinner.
It was a long wait for the food, but the food was excellent. I had the scallops, and probably too many Manhattan 'on top"s.
delicious unusually ingredients that worked well together! Great for foodies. A bit noisy. The computer was having a problem so our drinks took a long time....they apologized and brought us a second one on the house.
Amazing place and delicious food! Beautiful!
This is a great restaurant. From the moment you working until the moment you walk out you are well cared for. We went for Thanksgiving dinner and the food was perfect. I will definitely be going back.
Thanksgiving dinner was memorable. Thank you!
When you advertise $95 per person for a meal I expect to get what I ordered and what was detailed online when I made the reservation. Which is the reason why I made this special reservation at your restaurant (anniversary & thanksgiving dinner). Why do you have the menu online detailing that each entree is $95 per person but when I received the menu in the restaurant there was print that stated that it was going to be $20 extra for the NY steak strip. Couldn’t you have wrote that on the menu on the website as well ? It’s really upsetting when you make a reservation at a restaurant for an anniversary/thanksgiving meal and you’re met with disappointment because it’s nothing like you expected. This was our first time in New York and It was extremely sad for us because we were so excited about this meal and we were celebrating a holiday and our anniversary. It’d be one thing if the food was great but it was mediocre at best and the pies were stale. I also shouldn’t order a drink and have wait twenty minutes for it just for multiple waitresses to tell me “oh I’m sure they’ve got it”. Also when you put a down payment of $25 for a reservation that should be included in the meal end price no? I should’ve walked out happy and excited about my experience but all I walked out with was a $300+ bill and a huge regret. It seems like focus wasn’t really on our experience. Not sure if it had anything to do with the big party downstairs. And it would help if you’re staff was informed about what was available for the day. One didn’t know how many ounces the NY steak was, one didn’t know you had limited drinks available (you promote CBD drinks but none were available today? Really?!)..
