Outstanding food and service. Nice ambience. Only downside was how crowded it was with waiters constantly bumping into you.
Not recommended for Valentine's day dinner. Prefixed menu sas never showed prior online, meaning if we didn't like what we saw, would not have booked the reservation. The host and the wait staff where either borderline rude or clueless to what's going on. Food portions for the prefixed were barely a tasting menu. Also, everything came out as available. Appetizers and desserts took less than 5 minutes, whereas we had to wait for over an hour to get the main course.
We enjoyed a really nice dinner. We had the grilled octopus and calamari appetizer, the impossible burger and the ricotta gnudi with lobster, which were all delicious, well prepared and beautifully presented. We also sampled several wonderful cocktails including the Manhattan on tap, Old Fashioned, Negroni, and Fig Sazerac. Comfortable and cozy ambiance with the horse theme. Attentive and courteous service. Will definitely be back!
Very good steaks. Takes a long time to get drinks served sometimes but otherwise a good experience.
Saxon + Parole is one of my favorite brunch spots. The ambience/decor is great, the food is always exceptional (French Toast stuffed with house-made Nutella? House-made whiskey jam? DIY Bloody Mary Bar? So. Good.), and I've always had good service. Highly recommend.
Salmon and quinoa entree was very good. Delicious Brussels sprouts. Sorbets (guava and blackberry) were fine but not spectacular. Good place to go once.
Went for Sunday brunch- fabulous service, incredible food and drinks, great music. Can’t wait to go back!
The food and drink, the ambience and the wait staff were all excellent. We look forward to returning.
Less kudos to the hostess.
Food and waiter wonderful !
Very noisy and had to speak over the loud noise .
Not the best place for a business meeting .
As always, Saxon and Parole delivered an excellent evening for myself and 7 other college friends! Wine and the Holy Cow absolutely stunned the crowd... staff was great, the digs are beautiful and the bar was lively as always.
I've been here for dinner before with a wonderful food & dining experience, so was strongly disappointed with the brunch. The food options were limited by what was not available, plates came out in spread out timing... but the server was wonderful and attentive in the process. Love the space, but wouldn't return for brunch unfortunately.
Hi Matt, I'm so sorry you had a less than stellar experience at brunch. Thank you for your feedback, we are working to improve our brunch service so that it meets our standards. We hope to see you back soon!
The service was awful. The waiter took so long to get our order even thought we told him we were ready, had to ask for things more than once, and he would disappear for long periods of time and all his tables around us were as lost and needing him. Our water glasses were empty and no one would come around to refill, had to ask for water everyone. I won’t visit again due to the lack of service
Thank you for choosing to celebrate New Year's eve with us! We apologize for the delays in service, NYE was definitely one of our busiest nights of the year, but that is no excuse for the lack of service. We do hope you'll give us another chance to wow you!
We have always wanted to try Saxon + Parole and decided NYE was the perfect night to do so. Unfortunately, we were just completely underwhelmed by everything. We split the NY strip with truffle butter add on, the fries, and the crispy brussel sprouts. Everything was just fine. Not great, just good. We also each got a cocktail to start and a drink with dinner, but each one was $16-$18, which is just totally overpriced for what they were. I wouldn't come here again. If I spend $200, I expect to be blown away, which we were not.
Service was also just ok - took a while to get the check and when they finally did run the card, they returned the check without our credit card which we spotted on the ground by the server's station. It had fallen out. Not a huge deal but after the underwhelming meal, kind of just secured our opinion that S+P is overrated.
Hi there, I am so sorry you had a subpar experience at Saxon + Parole. Our cocktails are made with high-end spirits and fresh juices squeezed in-house, which does add to the cost. We do hope you will give us another try!
Our server Esme was incredible! Great food and great service!
Food was delish! The gnudi pasta dish and the sea bass are not to be missed!
Very knowledgeable server who went above and beyond the usual effort. Our dining experience was spectacular.
Perfect place for dinner with friends our couple, friendly and cosy
Good afternoon, good food, but better the attention of the girl who attended us, a charm that knew how to take us to choose a very good meal and looking around the restaurant by asking us for the tasting menu for a price that we would not have chosen be for her.
Sorry I don't remember the name ..... your Congo girl
Todo muy bien
Great food and drinks. The tonka old fashioned and burger were amazing!
undercooked, but they replaced it almost immediately! it is a very nice restaurant for dinner i believe , just not brunch
Service could of been better. Was not to attentive as the waiter was busy with two big parties seated next to us. Shame on that. Hostess should of seated us somewhere else if this was the case
Hi Joey, Thank you for sharing your feedback! I'm sorry the server was not attentive to your table due to the large parties. We will definitely pay closer attention to staffing and seating when there are big groups dining with us. We hope you'll give us another chance to wow you! Cheers, Kiera
I love the food here but today it was quite slow getting from the kitchen to our table, but more distressing was the portion size. I mean, I don't expect portions like I'm in the south or the midwest, but come on! All jaws at the table were agape when the food finally arrived. Disappointing. We left hungry. I *want* to love this place and have in fact really enjoyed it in the past. But with so many other restaurants to choose from in NYC, I don't think I'll be going back to S&P. Not unless I hear they increase portion sizes so I get something for my hard-earned money.
Hi there, Thanks for your review! I'm sorry that you were disappointed by the portion size. We pride ourselves for using fresh, high-quality ingredients in all of our dishes, which does drive up the cost. However, we will take another look at our pricing and portions to make sure guests are not leaving hungry or disappointed. Thanks again for your feedback, and we do hope you'll give us another chance to wow you. Cheers, Kiera
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service! Can't wait to revisit.
Wonderful meal (try the impossible burger!). Even better service! The only downside is that our party of 5 was seated in a booth in the bar area. The music was very loud, so conversing was difficult. Other than that, great place!
Great menu, service was outstanding and has a wonderful energy to the space too!
Room was very cold and the space heaters were a good idea, but there were none by my table. My friend was dairy free and ordered a burger. The bun had dairy so the burger arrived with out any bread and we then had to wait for that situation to be corrected.
Other than that the food was good and all the brunch cocktails were delicious.
Hi Matthew, Thanks for your review! I do apologize for the cold dining room. We were having some trouble with our heating system and quickly pulled out the space heaters we had, but we will definitely be purchasing extras in case this happens again. Cheers, Kiera
Nice neighborhood place but a bit overpriced and they had already run out of the starter we wanted with an 8:30 reservation.
Food was good, service was slow. Very loud
S&P has a really lively vibe which is fun. The hosts could not have been nicer - high, high marks for them - they were incredibly accommodating. Food was really solid - highly recommend the Impossible burger, octopus and lamb.
Service was quite slow and impersonal which let it down but everything else was good enough I would give it another chance.
They took forever to seat us, took forever to bring the main courses, then forgot one of our party's dishes which took 15 minutes to bring. They took our dessert order (3 espressos, 1 dessert) and returned 10 min later to tell us the espresso machine was broken, and then when we finally were ready to leave, took 10 min to bring our checked coats. But the food was good. Just didn't need to be a 3 hour meal.
Dear Catherine, I am so sorry about the subpar service you received during your meal. This is definitely not the level of hospitality we aim to provide. I have addressed this incident with the general manager so that it doesn't happen again. Please check your private messages so we can make this right. -Kiera
What a gorgeous evening at a beautiful neighborhood restaurant. The service was gracious and lovely (which I find rare), the dining room elegant, energetic and so pretty, and the food outstanding. Somehow at our table of 4, not 1 of us ordered meat at this carnivorous outpost, but my friends loved their fish dishes, and my roasted tomato soup was divinely creamy and my carrot bolognese not to be missed. For dessert we had smores, a cheesecake sundae, and the divine house-made sorbets, and no one could stop moaning. Worth a visit even if you don't live nearby.
Hi Penelope, Thank you for your lovely review of Saxon + Parole, we're so happy to hear you had such a wonderful time! We pride ourselves on our extensive selection of plant-based dishes, so thank you for the wonderful feedback. Since you loved the Carrot Bolognese, I'd recommend trying the Ricotta Gnudi on your next visit. Cheers! Kiera
Impossible burger was amazing.
Hi there, Thanks for your wonderful review of Saxon + Parole, we're happy to hear you enjoyed the Impossible Burger! -Kiera
I had the impossible burger. Confirmed it is mankind’s greatest discovery since our Neanderthal friends discovered fire.
Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to review Saxon + Parole. We love the Impossible Burger and we're so happy to hear you loved it as well! Thanks! Kiera
The moroccan spiced lamb shank is not to be missed. It is excellent; and I am not typically fond of lamb but I would definitely order this again. We ordered sides as appetizers and they were also fantastic. The blistered shishito peppers and crispy brussels sprouts. The waiter staff brought out an appetizer that e didn’t see on the menu but it was probably the best appetizer, it was a mushroom spread with different layers and it was served in a jar...delicious. We loved this restaurant we visited twice while visiting NYC.
They were short staffed and overbooked but everything was good. We were given free rose champagne at the end.
The prices for oysters are absurd though - range from $4-5.75 a piece and there is no option to add a 4th oyster to an app that comes with 3. Kind of ridiculous - restaurants should accommodate that if patron pays extra? Why should food be so strict? It’s a meal that should be enjoyable and flexibility makes things easier!
Hi there, Thank you for being patient and understanding when we were short staffed! I'm so sorry that the server was not accommodating when you wanted a 4th fried oyster, that is not the kind of hospitality we pride ourselves on. I have brought this up with the general manager so that it doesn't happen again. Cheers, Kiera
Tables are very close together but food was great and drinks were good.
Very bad bar service - it gets an F minus. The food, however, was an A+.
Bartender didn’t seem to care that people waited EXORBITANT amounts of time for a drink. Other staff seeming capable of making simple drinks too stood around and Socialized mostly - every now and then pitched in to make a cocktail
Got to Saxon and parole at 1:40 and was asked to wait at the bar as I was first to arrive
Didn’t get to even order my drink until 1:50 (a Bellini)
Watched bartender continue to make dozens of other drinks until 1:58 when he made my Bellini, a combination of literally 2 ingredients (did this slowly while socializing with other staff). Bellini was put in front of me at 2 PM- a whole 20 mins after sitting down and him seeing me
Once we were seated, the drinks also took 15 minutes. But again, the food was amazing.
I thought restaurants made most of their revenue from drinks? If so this is bad business...
Hi there, I'm so glad you enjoyed your food at Saxon + Parole's brunch. I do apologize for the extremely slow service you received at the bar, that should not have happened. We've talked with the bartender who was working that shift to make sure this doesn't happen again. Please check your private messages so we can make this right. Thank you, Kiera
Amazing service, our waiter was the best:
