Amazing burlesque/circus type performances over dinner. Food was lovely, quite expensive but felt that was ok given the entertainment. Excellent service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for more than just dinner.
Not just a restaurant - although the food is delicious - but a unique D.C. Experience!
The experience was great. I would definitely go back.
Amazing ambiance, super cute decor and great service.
Service was a little slow. Don't particularly like the 7 minute segments since they interrupt dinner being served. At times we couldn't see. I like the ongoing show on Sunday with the men rather than the shorter versions on Saturday. Overall it wasn't bad.
Reservation was on time. Waitress was super friendly and entertaining. Food was good ( especially the fried Brussel Sprouts).
Very underwhelmed by the performances. Not burlesque level and the performers seemed very robot-like.
Omg this place was amazing. First off, the restaurant itself is visually stunning. From what I know it is the only restaurant in the DMV that provides Cirque du Soleil style entertainment while you dine. I was worried that it would be one of those places where the food is not worth the expensive price tag. This was not the case. The food was absolutely delicious. I am someone who is very critical when it comes to my food. Sax did not disappoint. I had the Pan Roasted Chicken and my friend had the Pan Roasted Salmon. Even the vegetables that came with it were tasty. I don’t even eat Lima beans but I did that day! Last but not least, our waitress Alyssa was wonderful. She was attentive, relatable, she answered any questions we had and was just very accommodating. I rarely write reviews but this place really wowed me. I had a great first experience and it most certainly won’t be my last.
I can’t say enough good things about Sax. The food and beverages were all excellent. All of the service staff we interacted with went above and beyond to make our celebration go well. And the performers are amazing!
Went for a date that didn’t show, ended up by myself, however the atmosphere was pleasant enough that it took my mind off of the bummed evening. The salmon was Superb!
Celebrated my wife’s 30th birthday and had a blast! The ambiance was amazing and every show that took place every 20-30 minutes was also great. My wife and I can’t wait to bring friends here from out of town for a new experience of Dc’s hidden secrets! Surprisingly the food was also 5 stars and the only reason I say that was because everything else seemed to good to be true but thanks ‘Sax’ we’ll definitely be returning soon.
It was wonderful the food entertainment and service. Can’t wait to back.
We had an awesome date night. Our server, Alyssa, was very personable and attentive to our needs. The food was amazing and the drinks were made superbly. We are definitely returning with friends. Loved this place.
Had a great experience, but didn’t read some of the most important info on the site until, after we were bumped out of our seating by security telling us. They have people who reserved the seats for bottle service and would arrived in 10minites! At least that could have being clarified, when we first got there, by our waitress or waiter or any of their staff! That we are only limited to dinning for a certain number of hours. I think staff should give guest heads up that when you reserved for dinner, it’s later changed to bottle service, so we can be prepared to leave immediately after dinner! Especially being our first time, for a table of 4 with almost $400 in Bill! So I learned now! And the whole night we were there, the guests for bottle service never showed up until when we left a little after midnight!
We went to Sax to celebrate our wedding anniversary and boy we made such a perfect decision. The food was amazing our server Maria “Maite” was wonderful and super helpful (as this was our first time @Sax) and shows were outstanding. We loved every second of more than 2 hours that we spent there. It’s perfect for dates and off course is a little pricey but worth every penny. I would definitely go back soon for every thing. Food, service, ambiance, and the show.
SAX is a great place for a date or a couples night out. The establishment is very nice and elegant. The dancers add to the dining experience and the food is portioned perfectly. The staff is friendly and the experience is a once in a lifetime for visitors.
My husband and I dined at Sax for our Anniversary. It was our first time at Sax so we didnt really know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Our waitress was extremely helpful at making drink and food recommendations. The show was awesome. We never saw the same performance twice. The food was delicious, very flavorful. After our meal and 2 hours was over we spent time at the bar. Juan hooked up our drinks at the bar. We had a great time and an unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I are fans of burlesque shows and decided to book one at Sax while we were in DC. Admittedly, we had some high hopes as all the restaurants that we’ve attended previously were highly interactive with a show that pulls you in and makes you feel a part of the show. Sax, was very disappointing.
First, the show. The show is designed to happen in spurts. Every 7-10min during the evening, the ladies come out in various costumes with a slight striptease. The dancers were beautiful, however the choreography seemed forced, unrehearsed, and it seemed as if they were not having fun at all. Every few shows a line would drop from the ceiling and a dancer would swing from a circular or rectangular object. Some spinning and twirls, but nothing noteworthy. Also, at one time there was a dancer with a hula hoop of fire behind the glass stage, dancers on the floor, and a dancer suspended in the air. In my opinion, it was too much at once and we couldn’t focus on one area at a time.
The food. My wife had the Oscar style NY strip and I had the lamb chops with a side of butternut squash purée. The crab topping on the steak was bland but the steak was decent. The lamb chops were bland and over cooked (ordered mid rare). The rack came cut in half, not individually, and was very boney. The vegetable side that came with it was actually better than the chops themselves. The butternut squash puree was the best out of it all.
The service. Other than feeling rushed to order, the service was decent.
We enjoyed ourselves, but there is certainly room for improvement.
The food was fair for the price, service was adequate but often left waiting for a drink, and while the venue was absolutely beautiful and impressive, the entertainment wasn’t quite as varied as we expected. Lovely evening overall but likely would ‘t return for a second time.
I attended Sax on a Saturday night to celebrate my husbands birthday with a group of 6 friends.
Despite a hiccup early in the night where they made us wait 30 minutes to be seated, we had an 8:30 reservation, my group had a great time at SAX. The service once, we were seated was good, ( they gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne for the inconvenience and free round of shots for my husbands birthday). The food was excellent and far exceeded my expectations (I had read not so great reviews of the food), and the ambiance at SAX is simply superb (the shows are hypnotizing and made for a very sexy vibe.
After 11 pm the restaurant turns into a club. We lingered and danced for about an hour. But since they only played house music, we left in search of a more diverse music selection. Overall, I would recommend SAX for a sexy night out or a special occasion.
I reserved this restaurant for a friends birthday. My party was 7 people in total. My reservation was for 9:00pm, I got there at 8:40pm. The hosted at the first was amazing and kind. She informed us that out table wasn't ready and try still had guest there but they where leaving now. We waited and waited and waited. Its now 9:35 and the guest of honor guest was still waiting. I felt like when you reserve a table time wise 20-30 before the next party everything should be clear. I had to clean around the section and fluffy up the pillows myself. I had to go to the bar for silverware myself. Its now around 9:45-9:50. The waitress comes and inform us that the kitchen will be closing at 10:00pm because it turns into a club. We never even got a chance to read over the menu! Or even enjoy the performance! When our food came out 20 mins later cold and not all fully cooked. There was no time or room for anything to be sent back to be heated back up. Its now around 10:40 the waitress comes and say you and your party didn't hit the $75 per person limit that's for Saturday only, plus we have to leave the space because at 11 its club night. So I felt like there should be some accommodates for the wait and service we where receiving. Finally she came back and said we will charge you as a regular night. Which was nice! And you could stay here at your table for additional 45 mins. I said ok thank you. She then came back and said you only can stay if you buy a $200 or higher bottle of your choice. At that point I said No Thank you and at that point she said well we need this section. We where rushed and disappointed with our service, food. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE UNLESS ITS JUST FOR HAPPY HOUR AT BAR!
Saturday night at Sax was fun. The burlesque show was great entertainment during dinner. The food was delicious. I had the steak with imperial sauce and It was cooked just as ordered. Unfortunately, our waitress was crumbling under the weekend pressure. It took her 15 minutes to come to our table for a drink order. And equally as long to facilitate more rounds of drinks for our empty glasses. After ordering, she disappeared. The bar's ginger ale was flat, so my Jammie and Ginger had no carbonation at all. Also, I wasn't a super fan of auto 18% gratuity plus the $75 head minimum on Saturday nights--more so the auto grat than the minimum. This could simply be because our waitress was nonexistent.
Food and show was great
Went for their first Fetish night, had a great time once we understood what was going on. Will definitely be returning. There were a few kinks in the food delivery but hopefully that will get worked out in the next few weeks.
Went to SAX for a bachelorette party dinner. I loved the vibe of this place, and the shows kept you very entertained. I requested a good seat ahead of time not thinking that would be honored but BOY was I surprised. We have a table right in from of the stage/bar with the best view in the house. The waitresses were very attentive, the drinks and food were good (but super pricey $$). I think this is a great choice if you are looking for a great girls night/date night or a special occasion if your willing to spend a little more on the tab.
First time here very impressive venue and service. Food was excellent, as well.
The seating was horrible & they should invest in ways to fix it. We were a table of two on 2nd floor & we were away from glass area to see the floor performances & also our table was not staggnet so it was hard to see performances passed another tables head. So I would not go often unless it's for a big celebration..they lost me on going there for date nights unless my seat can be guaranteed.
A great place for a date night. The overall service, entertainment and ambiance was outstanding.
The Burlesque performances were extremely tasteful, enjoyable and VERY pleasing to watch.
We had the Pan Roasted Salmon and The Lamb Chops both dishes were delicious!
This was a great place to have for a birthday dinner. The vibe of the place is awesome as well as the show. As for the service and food that was just mediocre. I also think the drinks and food are a little on the pricey side but overall it’s a great value when the show is included.
From the time you enter SAX to the time you leave, you’ll be impressed. The setting is perfect for a romantic date or an adult evening. The menu doesn’t have a bad choice but the fondue is a must have. Book in advance especially for a Friday or Saturday night.
Good Girls Night Out!! Performers were Awesome!!!
The venue is very ornate, the food was delicious, and the performances were fantastic. I highly recommend Sax as a unique dining experience- especially for a special occasion. The only critique I have is that our waitress seemed to be rushing us at the end of the meal. She brought us our check before we finished dessert. I think they have a strict 2-hour policy for each reserved table. Still it seems a little rude.
We ordered steak and scallops, both were good. However, the potatoes that came with the steak were absolutely terrible, they tasted like they were very old. The potato cakes that came with the scallops tasted old as well. Not worth the $75 minimum for each of us. The concept is good but needs some work. Probably will not go again. That being said our sever was great!
Very nice atmosphere & food was great! I highly recommend it there
This was my second time at Sax. Last time I went on a Saturday which had a better show. All in all it was excellent. They really treat customers well.
Sax is unique dining concept with theatrical aerialists and dance acts during dinner . Service and food was top notch and provided for a fun memorable evening
Took my wife for our anniversary and the place did not disappoint. Performances, food, staff, and atmosphere were all amazing. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back again!
Oh would recommend requesting a seat near the glass barrier upstairs to be able to view performances conducted both above and below.
The wait staff was great. The food was OK. The hostesses were the worst part of the entire experience.
My mother, husband and I were denied the ability to use perfectly valid gift cards totaling $120. The General Manager (GM), Nate Montgomery, rudely refused to accept the gift cards and ignored any obligation to honor the gift cards under federal law. He claimed SAX was not required to honor the gift cards because the business changed hands since the gift cards were acquired. The GM brushed aside legal arguments regarding the acquiring company assuming liabilities as well as assets.
Food and drinks are mediocre for the price. The Truffle fries for $12 were lacking in truffle flavoring and portion was barely big enough for two.
Martini drinks were nice, but overpriced at $16 each considering specialty speakeasies in the area charge $14 and most.
Waitress was lovely and prompt.
Amazing experience with phenomenal food
