Polished, excellent service with innovative menu and crowd-pleasing array of choices (would be comfortable bringing friends and family with diverse dietary preferences).
Three items should always be ordered! Pork belly steam buns, wood-fired artichokes and the porchetta. Anything pork based has been delish. The cocktail menu is creative and the traditional gin martini is generous and perfect. Service is excellent. The patio seating is slightly snug, and if you get sat next to a rambunctious table, it can be a little loud. This was my fourth visit and remains a favorite date night or out of town guest treat.
Sawyer is my favorite restaurant in Seattle. Every dish that comes out tastes fantastic and is beautifully presented. Awesome service. I love this place and can’t wait to take friends.
Food and service were rushed... in and out in 60 minutes? Felt the experience was to get guests fed and out fast! Not what we expected and far from a relaxed restaurant experiences.
Our server was fantastic in answering all our questions and helping my indecisive self choose what to order. We wanted to eat everything on the menu. Every dish we ordered was over the top delicious and had so much flavor. I want to go back and order the rest of the menu.
We had a great birthday dinner at Sawyer. This was our second time back. The food was great and our server was fun and attentive.
Literally one of the best dining experiences we've had in Seattle lately and will now become a new fave in our rotation! Love the unique & versatile menu with a fun play on otherwise familiar cuisines. Our service was absolutely excellent--our waiter went above and beyond to make us happy! The duck was amazing (with or without the steam bun) and we fell in love with the unique twist on a "bagel & lox" plate with the salmon mousseline. The short ribs were cooked to perfection. What a great new dining place to have in the old home of Kickin' Boot Whiskey Kitchen. We will definitely be coming back!
My new favorite restaurant in Seattle! The ambience is perfect for semi quiet dinner with friends for good conversation. Hard to find a place where you don’t have to shout to your dinner companions. The waitress was hilarious and charming. The food was excellent. Perfect pairing of flavors but who are we kidding? We came for that cookie dough dessert! Can’t wait to go back!
One of the best meals and overall dining experiences I've had in Seattle. My husband and I ordered several items to share and they were all amazing! The service was excellent. The overall vibe was on point. My only feedback is that we should have ordered two of the grilled artichoke so that I could have had one all for myself.
Bday dinner for my gf. Chef sent over a nice dessert and took care of us all night! Our favorite restaurant!
We loved the dinner! The food was incredible!! Our wait staff and the hostess - not so much. They didn’t seem very happy to be there or as if the restaurant was so posh posh that only snooty people belonged there. I walked in the hostess was in a call and I waited at least 10 minutes for her to respond. She didn’t even acknowledge that I was waiting or tell me to please hold on.
Sawyer is wonderful! Unique and fun ambiance with a beautiful mix of rustic modern decor. Great food, and each staff member was so kind. A new favorite spot for us!
Any occasion fits this place. There were things on the menu I couldn’t order because, well, I already ordered half of it. Spinach dip more like a cheese pea dip but fantastic, the buffalo potato things, big yum, udon soup surprisingly meaty, umami rich and addicting. Cheesey bread is huge and also fairly tasty. You really can’t go wrong. I will come back for that salmon thing and the clam chowder gnocchi, trust.
A little gem in Seattle! It looks so ordinary from outside but inside it had beautiful upscale booths with normal pricing. I really had a lot of fun here with my husband and cousins. We had wood-grilled artichoke that was amazing - such powerful earthy taste I have never had before. The artichokes look very big but it's only the inner cream we can eat - it's full of unique "freshly-earthy-grilled" flavor that one can't have enough. Everyone tried it in our group. Other than that the spinach Nacho's quite savory and I'd love to keep having it everyday. Lechee cake was sufficient for two people to enjoy great tasting dessert that was moderately sweet but very flavorful. The cake was perfectly baked with icing very soft in taste and texture like butter. It was infused with leeche flavored milky liquid and pistachios. The udon noodles were made better than any Asian restaurant I have tried in my life. It tasted very good. I'd keep going there over and over!
We were impressed by the decor and food offerings once served for our first visit to Sawyer. The wood-grilled artichokes and Buffalo Spuds were great shareable starters. Everyone in our group seemed to love the various entree salads and meat options, and the Animal Style Burger did not disappoint, truly among the best burgers in Seattle. The Cuatro Leches Cake was a nice celebratory birthday dessert to cap off the meal.
Came down from Vancouver, BC with 6 Chefs and we had an amazing experience. The Baos were insane!
Fabulous food and service. Really enjoyed all the suggestions made by our server. We’re going back for sure.
A lot of restaurants on a Thursday night can be loud and unenjoyable. Sawyer was not that way. The service was excellent, food was fantastic, and ambience was awesome. We will definitely be going back!
Service was great!
Incredibly delicious food. We had to flag down our server once to order another round of drinks before the entrées arrived, but otherwise the service was very friendly and the overall experience was great.
I ordered the Halibut based on the waiter's recommendation. It apparently is a best seller. It was cooked perfectly. Thought it was a slightly small portion. The biggest problem for me was that it was a very uninteresting dish. It came with a small side of...not sure. Overall the food was ho-hum. My friend ordered the noodle dish. He didn't think there was anything notable about it either. Halibut was $36. We will not return as there are so many great restaurants in Seattle.
The restaurant has a nice and hip setting. Initially the food was different and tasty. But it got repetitive and all seemed to be creamy and too rich. We got full with just two appetizers. We ordered another dish but we were not able to appreciate it due to mixed components not working together. :(
It’s was overall great but the food was very different. What I mean is that it felt like they were trying too hard with too many ingredients in their dishes. I didn’t find a dish that I loved.
Outstanding tastes in a casual environment. Try the artichokes.
Sawyer was excellent - my wife and I enjoyed our experience there. The service was friendly and the food was simply amazing. We split the Salmon Moussaline appetizer and my sirloin steak with cornbread, tomatoes and shallots was a wonderful presentation that tasted fantastic. I'd definitely go back but would even consider ordering the same items.
The food choices were limited and very expensive for the food they serve. All the food was very basic with no fries or salad on the side.
Portion size is very small too.
Food was bland, under seasoned, underwhelming. Service slow, ambiance very noisy
Absolutely amazing food! Great service and a fun trendy place for every occasion!
We loved the variety of the food and being able to share everything. The suggested amount to order was one or two small plates too much.
I’ve been to Sawyer several times and the food is always excellent. I’d never been there for brunch, we ordered the cinnamon rolls to start. They were delicious, great frosting and they came in a skillet. I had breakfast nachos, which were also great. Good portion sizes too. If you have been to Sawyer for dinner, the brunch portions seem to be slightly larger.
Amazing brunch! Loved all the different flavors and menu option. The egg sandwich and the cinnamon rolls were heavenly!
Sooooooooo great! The service was not only prompt and totally on point, but super friendly! The food was just fantastic! Building is funky and Ballard is just the right amount of "crunchy." Really great experience all around.
Fabulous staff and even more fabulous food. We enjoyed the sleek and open space and not too loud noise level. Our server was amazing!
Great ambiance, creative menu. Lots of
Shared plate options.
service and food were fantastic. Server was a sweet heart
Birthday brunch for two. Settting is lovely, food was delicious. Coffee excellent!
Great restaurant! We really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. We will go there again.
Service was slow, food was meh. Hope they can turn it around.
Great service, amazing ambience, and delicious food. Recommend!
Everything was well executed, we had the duck and the sirloin, as well as the gnocchi, strawberry quinoa salad, and foie gras mousse. And dessert was the quattro leches cake that was fantastic!
Great atmosphere and great value, hats off to the chef-owner. Would love to meet someday :)
